I'm trying to figure out why you can't use a '78 fpr. Is the zx different?

Try advance auto parts and use a coupon code. 20 to 30% off from retailmenot.com and advance pops up a 25% sometimes for online orders. You order online and choose in store pick up to avoid shipping cost. Takes a couple of days though. I've done it many times. Good luck. Can't wait to see that fuel rail. 8^)

OEM AM Radio- Will it add value?
Something else to consider. A aftermarket din cd head unit would require some cutting to get it installed. I've butchered a few 280s doing this. Your plastic may not all be there for the OE radio?

Datsun-240z Vs Fairlady-z432
You have that right! Those are some pretty high prices to pay for a vintage car. We are lucky, in about 40 states in the US you have the option of getting an authentic tag from the year of manufacture. For my '72 I had to buy an actual tag from the year 1972 and register it but I will never have to pay again. I guess the way they see it is you've paid taxes for so many years you shouldn't have to keep paying?

I would apply some stain or at least a water resistant sealer.

That's a great start! Glad you've shared with us on classiczcars.com. you'll find more info on here with helpful folks than the other sites IMHO. Black Pearls are going up, lucky you! Ask anything, you'll get many replies I promise. Welcome to the forum. Edit: 99% of the problems are old fuel. Put a a cheap clear Fram G3 fuel filter right out of the tank before the fuel pump.

Best place to find a Z?
I check searchtempest.com every Monday. I wasn't looking either and wound up with three. Luckily sold one and made double what I paid. The other two are downstairs and worth 10 times what paid. Buy one, you can't go wrong. Of course you should let us critique to death.

Storing Emrty Fuel Tank
I wrapped a whole 2.4 motor I bought off craigslist with shrink wrap from Lowes. If I remember right it was about $20? Worked great for a year or so until I tore it down. Carbs and all, no spider webs or anything like that.

Storing Emrty Fuel Tank
That's a great story! Before going on vacation I wanted to put my KX80 inside my Mom's upstairs apartment. Never considered the perpendicular railing that met me at the top. One of the dumbest things I've done so far. I was 13 then and close to 50 now so I'm sure they'll be more to come.

New member, anything I must know?
The most popular sports car ever, Porsche 911, has back seats but just try and get anyone back there. They are best, seats folded down and used as a rear deck IMHO.

1973 Rebuild
Can't remember the number of grams off hand but mine were all over the place. I ground the underside to get them all the same weight before sending them to Delta for resurfacing. Luckily they all weighed the same when they came back. Happy with that but they sit in the box still, life reared its ugly head but I'm going to get it put together this winter after I shine up my valves. My Dad told me about shining up the back side of his valves back in the '60s. He also told me, and of course I played dumb, to grind all the casting marks off the runners and smooth them as best I could. That will be much easier today with a Dremel and the flex cable attachment. He used a rod wrapped with rough sandpaper back then he says.

SU Hitachi 2.0mm Needle Valve Assembly
Seeing how the '72 float adjustment thread went on forever a month or so ago Mr Potholez and I went with private messaging. Much easier to stay focused. I just thought about a solution that @madkaw did with his front ears so they'd match the rears. He drilled the pinholes higher to match the rear lid and as I remember, it worked great for him. Fortunately I had a spare set and run two rear lids on my current SUs, no drilling. It pretty much turned them into the earlier style 4 screw SUs. @hatepotholez

Where is the Fuel Vapor Check Valve Located
My Stihl has a two hose valve at the top of the fuel tank. The cap seals so tight I can run it and my weed whacker upside down. I took it apart and cleaned that release valve and it's all good now. Don't lose any sleep over my comments. The nice rape kit with chewing gum and Tampax still has me laughing. I must admit I did not see Greg's post on the MacGyver kit. Sorry Captain. You know me... Edit: for the rest of the forum I will move to PMs. I am twisted in my thinking and 99% are not. Thanks you other 1 percenters!

Where is the Fuel Vapor Check Valve Located
Fumes from all the bouncing would be my guess? Like shaking a beer before handing it to your friend to open. EDIT: My reasoning is my backpack blower. The check valve that releases the fumes from the fuel tank got all clogged up after a few years of use. I used it one weekend and the next time I go to get it fuel was dripping out the air filter compartment, filter was soaking wet. The pressure had built up so high it pushed fuel backwards through the carb then through the filter. Until I figured it out I would loosen the fuel cap after each use to prevent the leaking. My experience only, I'm no mechanic just a guy with a computer and some figuring out sense. Thank you Dad!
