  1. It should also not really draw any power away from the engine without the vains.
  2. you need some tools like this These will help you remove the pins from the connectors. Removing the connectors aught to not be that hard. I am sure there is a plastic latch somewhere you can depress to remove them
  3. That's gonna make the open casket visitation awkward...
  4. Walls in my shop are 30' long. I got plenty of room. Is there a colorized 240z diagram like this?
  5. Me neither. Good heads up from @Zed Head
  6. I will check on this, with my magnifier "B" mark on the hub Would be really hard to find if the hub wasn't clean
  7. That didn't show up in my unread content, sorry
  8. You need to make your nickname on your ID "Job" for all your tuning efforts!
  9. That is the one..thoughts? @240260280
  10. @Home Built by Jeff I don't think I ever saw you comment on your new primer gun. Do you like it? Is it worth it to invest in high quality guns?
  11. Thanks, me too. I think it had Shelley pretty wound up. I thought she was gonna kill us, driving us there! Did you see the dimensions in the other thread? Not interested!!!! They really aren't that tasty!
  12. 240z's don't really have much in the way of crush zones anyway, thin bumpers, light sheet metal, thin doors, lap belts, etc. The later cars got better but they are not modern multi air bag cars. Some risk comes with the territory. Sort of like riding a motorcycle, you just have to drive defensively. The likelihood that the tubing comes straight into the passenger compartment is fairly low. Personally I am glad my local government doesn't micromanage me. I'm a big boy and can make tough choices all on my own. That is not intended to be insulting to anyone here, I just don't need a bureaucrat parent...the two I had are gone now, God bless them, and I'm not shopping for replacements
  13. and then I get humbled Now admittedly I have some excuse. I was multi tasking on multiple cars and projects. Then I took a big swig of beer, which happened to have a wasp in it. Stung me in the throat, the little monster! Had to hurl him back up. When the swelling started to get spooky, ended up at Urgent Care getting shots in my rump. Spent the rest of the day asleep in my recliner. So the plating didn't turn out. I will strip them and try again on Saturday maybe
  14. The adblockers kill the revenue to the site though. If you are going to ad block you should just pony up and be a supporting member to offset it IMO...
  15. Interesting! I will look
  16. You are correct the dimensions are much better. Some of that may be because I can use some pressure when measuring as opposed to the way I was measuring. The distance piece is stamped "B". I am assuming it is original. The distance piece from the first side was also a "B" piece. I don't know what these pieces are made out of but they are very hard and dense and tend not to rust.
  17. Very creative! yeah, I can't imagine it takes much to torque the front end around on one of these cars
  18. Ok. So I received a package today and headed down to the shop. The bearings seats all look good except for a little overspray Initially I measured in the scalloped areas. That allowed me to back up against two points and set the heel of the caliper against both sides of the opposing scallop Distance piece @Captain Obvious I have another question, how firmly do you hold the caliper? I can easily move the needle 0.005" with finger pressure. I have also found you have to swing the caliper back and forth looking for the smallest dimension to be sure you are square to the bore... Off of these dimensions, it would appear the bearings are being crushed by roughly 0.007" That seems like a lot of the bearings don't have any slop...?
  19. I thought this would be my first choice. After I verify I can measure with the CO specialty tool...
  20. Good progress. Keep at it...
  21. Fabulous. I hope you are mulling a solution for me if my measurements prove correct...there's beer in it...
  22. By the way, that's a nice looking little shed!
  23. Yeah, I was a little incredulous at this thought I might be able to later. all these parts are masked up in the paint booth currently. That would be great! It would remove one of my variables I agree this is what I thought was going on. I was pretty careful when I set the bearings to make sure they were down on the seats. I wonder how thick that little washer is? Maybe I lost it when I pressed it apart...
  24. Those are all good tips. It is also nice that these cars are relatively speaking, easy to pull because the sheet metal is so light so there are no really high stress loads to speak of
