Why does an L28 make less HP than a L24?
...and why are there two threads created by the same member on the exact same topic?

Why does an L28 make less HP than a L24?
Welcome to the club, Art. I think you may be confusing accelleration times with HP. The 240Z (L24) is quicker due to the pounds/HP ratio advantage compared to the 280Z's (L28). The L24 in the 240Z is rated at 151 HP at the flywheel, while the L28 in my '75 280Z is rated at 170 HP at the flywheel. So, if you put the entire 280Z engine, including all of the original intake components and engine control unit, into a 240Z, you'd have a quicker (170 HP) 240Z! :classic: A significant number of members here have swapped in L28 blocks into their 240Z's because they wanted the additional HP and torque gains associated with the increase in displacement.

Hello Forum members...
Thanks Gary! Now I can go to the grand opening of the local Harbor Freight. They're having a BIG sale! By the way, can I get you anything while I'm there?

Screen Names - Where Do They Come From?
Hi Rick, I kill incompetent doctors. JUST KIDDING! Actually here's the explanation...While driving around a blind corner at about 50 mph, I killed a duck that was walking across the road. When I came upon him, he tried to launch straight up to avoid the collision and hit my car just above my windshield.

Upholstry: 5pc or formed?
Personally I'd select the 5 piece set. The main reason is because if one of the pieces fades, gets stained, or wears out, I would only need to replace the one piece. And, if I needed to make a repair under one piece, I would only have to move one small piece instead the whole carpet. Also, I would think having seperate pieces would make it easier to fit and adjust to get it to fit right instead of wrestling with a big piece.

OK, now, if you could also include your VISA card number and expiration date, you'll be all set.

Hello Forum members...
Welcome to the site Gary. I feel the same as you when it comes to the wealth of knowledge this club has to offer, and I'm sure you'll get just about all the help you'll need from these good folks here. I'd suggest you go into your member profile and add your location there. Considering there are hundreds(?) of active members here, and this thread will probably be history in two days, only a handful will see where you're from, and maybe one or two will remember.Congradulations on the commencement of your journey into Z-land? I've been on this journey for 25 years and have loved every minute of it! By the way, I have family in Spokane and they love it there.

Hurricane Katrina
Good find Rick. According to this article, it appears southern Louisiana hasn't learned their lesson, nor listened to the experts and locals concerning the threat to their entire existence. I suppose the recent events will have little impact on their thought processes for the future. They'll probably still try to circumvent nature, and in the end, lose again.

Upholstry: 5pc or formed?
5 piece upholstery? Did you mean 5 piece carpet? Because normally upholstery refers to the 2 seats.

Fuel Pressure Regulator
A simple search on this club site turned up this: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18449&highlight=Fuel+Pressure+Regulator This thread is only a few days old. I can understand the need for conversation at times by not looking for answers yourself, but like the old saying goes, "God helps those who help themselves".

Does that include shipping?

Cheap Source for Tokico HP Series Shocks
The price you show is for the Illumina Series Shock kit. The kit prices include new springs. Miles bought the HP series shocks. The kit with HP shocks and springs would be the HPK Suspension Kit and sells for $395.52.

Who are you??
It's like Gav240z said, there is a section in the photo gallery assigned just to member's pictures. It's probably the best place to post them if you want people to be able to find them in the future, because in a few days this thread will be long gone and forgotten. Personally, I'd like to see a link on the home page, with the other photo links, that would take you directly to the mugshots. Mike, what do you think?

Drive shaft u-joints
Aside from what's already been discussed (u-joints), the only other things that could cause the vibration would be a damaged shaft (essentially a piece of pipe), mud or debris stuck to it, or the paint slipping to one side causing it to be unbalanced.

280zx tranny swap
Did you do a search here on the site first? Since you didn't fill in your location when you signed up with the club I'll assume you're in Bombay, India. So, no, I don't know of anyone close to where you are that can help you.

Very good! Would it be possible to post your poem here on the club site? That is unless you want to copyright protect it.

Electrical problems after restoration...?
How's the ground? You just stripped and painted the whole car, so, maybe the antenna's not grounded properly.

Back to my simple idle ?
Don't forget to check EVERYTHING connected to the valve cover for vacuum tightness, including the oil fill cap and valve cover gasket. I know from personal experience that having the oil fill cap off will cause idling problems.

Forgive me brothers...
STAY AWAY FROM HER! You'll wind up with herpes or something (or at least high repair bills)! Listen to your mother. After paying exorbitant prices for imported parts, the only fuel savings you realize is when you're pushing it to the rich Alfa mechanics garage.

MSA BRE rear spoiler-heads up
Just out of curiousity, why are there black bars over the men's eyes in that photo? Were they afraid their wives might find out they were at a Z car presentation instead of a strip club?

MSA BRE rear spoiler-heads up
I can understand that the spoiler mounting configuration can vary by manufacturer, but if the shop producing the spoilers can't/won't manufacture them according to MSA specifications, they should provide the template(s) to mount their spoilers from. And drawing up a mounting template is childs play to anyone with cad experience. I produced templates for cutting MFD for a 8' X 6' desk without having a prototype or a finished model to work from. There's no excuse for the problems you encountered. So much for "Pride in Workmanship".
