Ya, for chat meetings and out of curiosity's sake. Nothing heavyweight. I know nothing about web site setup. I was thinking of just a link on the main page. Nothing embedded or anything like that that would be a burden. Thanks for your help and time Mike.:classic:

Since I have a difficult time determining what time it is where some of you all live and feel that I'm not alone, I've included a link here to a web page that'll give you the current time of anyplace around the world. It sure beats buying 24 clocks to represent each time zone! If you think this is a useful enough tool to post on our site, let Mike know and maybe he can incorporate it into the site somewhere. Mike, I hope I'm not being pushy here. http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/
  3. I just paid $2.20 for 89 octane at a Chevron station. Too high when you consider that California produces most of the gas we use here. Maybe the high price of gas will force the astronomical price for a fixer upper house ($300,000) down!

So Rick, Are you going to let us in on what it's going to cost you for your wife saving your life?!?! I hope it's not the rest of your blood!

Don't give up now. You're almost there! You wouldn't trade your sick wife in would you? Maybe I shouldn't go there. The point I'm trying to make is, you've gone this far and you have a lot of time invested in this 'baby'. You probably know everything there is to know about THIS car. On the other hand, EVERY new car comes with unknown surprises that cost money, time and aggravation. At least with your '76 you know what's been done and what needs your attention. Sure there's going to be surprises once in a while, but not as many as an unknown car. Someone a long time ago asked me, 'how long do you plan to keep that car'? My reply was, 'as long as I can still get parts for it'! I hope this reply to you convinces you to stick it out.

I owned a factory stock and well maitained '78 280Z from '80 to '92, so I know these cars pretty well. From the pictures I've seen, this car is completely original right down to the green insert in the shift knob, the hub caps, and how the rear valance above the bumper arcs down in the center. It also appears to be in very good condition. Everything inside looks to be well maintained or new. Like the lettering on the controls, the condition of the original steering wheel, door panels, and weatherstripping. If I were looking for a Z car to buy that didn't need a lot of work, I'd be interested in one of this calibre. But, I'd sure want to see documentation to validate the owner's claims. And since you're only about 60 miles from where the car is, i'd suggest a juant up north before you commit. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

That's a great one Nate! The last act of defiance.
  8. Well, since Iraq is considered the birthplace of civilization, I think we should ALL go back there! Do ya think they'll welcome us with open arms (anatomically speaking)? Gee, I hope the'll let us bring our Z cars with us! P.S. I've got dibs on a palace!
  9. That's OK Carl, Sometimes I'm Houston Central and sometimes I'm a space cadet. It just depends on the day!

    Happy St. Patrick's Day! http://www.danggoodjokes.com/irish/
  11. WOW David, Those are some awesome front rotors and calipers! And they're beautiful too! They must have cost quite a bit. You must be a DINK (Dual Income No Kids)! Man, I hope you a use 5 point harness to keep you from flying through the windshield!!!
  12. As far as Grey Davis is concerned, he doesn't do ANYTHING if there's not something in it for HIM! I wouldn't be surprised if the state energy secretary, the one who doesn't have a clue about energy, was appointed by Davis so she wouldn't know what he was up to with the so-called 'energy shortage'. I'm VERY proud to say I didn't vote for him in either election. Speaking of self interest, from what has been reported in the media (Fox News Network), France, Germany, and Russia have major 'oil' contracts with Iraq (pending and future) that will be in jepardy if Saddam is taken out. The US's interest is, by being the only super power left in the world, one of enforcing the 'elimination of weapons of mass destruction' that was established in 1991. Slimebag Clinton wouldn't enforce it, so now it's up to Dubbya to go in and take out the major contributor to civilian slaughter in the middle east. It'll be interesting to see who has been breaking the sanctions imposed on Iraq once we clean house over there! As for the United Nations. What a joke! Ineptitude at it's finest. We had to go into Bosnia to bail them out. 85% US Military, 15% everyone else. The UN gladly accepts our help & money where it concerns THEM. But when we ask for moral support (votes) to take Mr. Rape/Murder/Steal/Lie/Gas'em, the major players threaten to veto! And we US citizens are subsidizing them by the millions of dollars! Give me a break.

I had an '81 5 speed installed in my '75 280Z a few months ago when my original 4 speed went out. My mechanic/friend had to bend the shift lever towards the rear about 2 inches to place it at the original location in the tunnel/console. By doing so that lowered the top of the lever. It's still usable but, because I have an aftermarket padded lid/armrest on my console, I'm planning on installing a taller shift knob to bring it back up a bit.
  14. Hey Carl, Just be glad you weren't driving a motorcycle!
  15. Carl, Think Roman (numeral)!
  16. My screen name, 'GunnerRob', doesn't mean that I'm a weapons freak. The name comes from when I was young, about 13 yrs. old. As a kid I was quite thin in stature, so when I played neighborhood sports I tended to over play in order to make up for the lack of bulk (and talent!). This was especially true when playing basketball. Since I couldn't get close to the net to make shots, I'd just heave the ball towards it from a distance! My brother called that 'gunning' the ball and consequently nicknamed me 'Gunner Rob'. Gotta love brothers!:classic: BTW Carl, I instantly knew what your screen name meant. I've had to make evasive manauvers myself to keep my Z from being labeled as such. One of these days I'll have share with you about how a friend was killed by horses while driving, if you're interested.

Hi z_boi I had a '78 and now have a '75. They both got around 20 mpg on the freeway and 17 mpg around town. Both of them had 4 speed transmissions and were pretty well maintained. I now have an '81 5 speed in my '75 and am getting about 25 mpg on the freeway. The 'around town' mileage is about what is was with the 4 speed.
  18. Mike, I've noticed during my usage of the main page that I haven't used the 'Reviews', 'Club Stats' or 'Automotive' panels. And I've only used the 'Main Menu' a few times. Possibly, these could be accessed via tabs or links. But by far the layout of this site is the best among all similar sites! Thanks for the great job you do, and for giving us the opportunity to express our opinion on this matter. By giving us the chance to express our views concerning the site reinforces the feeling that this is everyones club.

Arizona240z Do ya mean like showing him how to toss up wet wads of toilet paper to stick on the ceiling while he's taking a bath? My daughter and I had a BLAST doing that...........'till her mother came home!!! See, you can be young again!
