  1. I also put these on my car earlier in the year. I like the style and even put together a review for Motorsport. You can see the review here: http://www.classiczcars.com/reviews/showproduct.php?product=13&cat=22 If you could add your comments to the review and put a link to this thread it would be appreciated. The mirrors are very good looking and function well, but, my only complaint on these mirrors are their size. They sit a little below the window edge and care should be taken to make sure the passenger side can be seen correctly (especially before holes are drilled in the door).
  2. Not kidding, I text all the time while I am driving. I also talk on the phone. I usually do this while I am on a long stretch of empty highway and there isn't much traffic. When the traffic gets tight or I'm in a area that has people walking... I put the phone down. It really isn't that big of a deal, but, I do admit that driving some cars take more concentration than others. For instance, it's IMPOSSIBLE to text or even talk on my cell phone while driving my 240z. My truck is automatic and luxurious, so, it doesn't take that much effort to drive (one finger steering). A blanket statement that says all texting or even cell phone use while driving isn't fair. I do most of my "business" while driving and have had zero issues.
  3. I text all the time while driving. No accidents or close calls. I guess you have to be experienced. An 18 year old kid won't know how to do this correctly. When I have to concentrate, I put the phone down.
  4. Oh, I know Jason. I'll send him an email. Thanks for the connection!
  5. Has anyone seen the "How Stuff Works" website about the Z yet? Just ran across it today. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/datsun-sports-cars2.htm
  6. The other thread you mentioned started this off a few years ago. I was also in the market for a new harness and was going to work with another member on putting this together. Things sorta fizzled out and I ended up using my old harness and going through a repair. After overpaying for a firewall boot (I think it was $50), I had the thing installed and it worked great. The trick will be finding new connectors. I believe you can still find the colored wiring. You'll need to create a jig if you want to make more of them. Someone told me you can create a jig using a piece of plywood and laying everything out on pegs. Anyway, good luck with your venture on this. I would LOVE to see someone get this done with success. -- Mike
  7. Did you try the classifieds? We have a wanted section there.
  8. We need some photographers to attend the convention and post pictures to this club. Any volunteers?
  9. Awesome video, man. Very well done and I like the map integration. Where'd you get the map animation? Is that a Google Earth thing?

  12. Very nice! I haven't seen that one yet.
  13. Take the remaining car apart and dip-clean it !!
  14. I like "Old Skool"
  15. Here's THE BEST model I have ever seen of a Datsun Roadster. This is EXACTLY what I am looking for in the 240z. http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/222046 I contacted this guy about building us a model, but, his price is in the thousands.
  16. I found this pretty basic 3D model for Google Sketchup. It's very rough and looks like it was created after the 280ZX. http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=2f649524f9fd2223ae66278f4022455
  17. The SL engine isn't that great, but, you can do some pretty cool stuff in that place. If you do a search for automobile you will find a lot! Like anything else, the quality of the model shows just how much effort you put into it. Frankly, I am looking to create a mascot in that world and use it for our club. So, if you guys know where I can get a 3D model of the 240z (even 260 or 280z), I am all ears!!
  18. A 3D model would be awesome. I found a thread here that discussed CAD and models, but, it doesn't look like anything finalized. There are ways to take 3D models and map them into Second Life. That's what I'm trying to do now. As far as the bad parts of Second Life, there are also good parts to that place. Build your own shop, fill it with cars, create a virtual race team. It doesn't compare to real life, but, it's a way to express creativity and burn some time. Use it responsibly like anything else. m
  19. Hi guys, I wanted to re-open this thread from 2005! Did anyone find a CAD drawing or (better) a 3D model of the 240z ? If someone wants to digitize or scan my Franklin Mint model I can send it to you.
  20. Oh, sorry... VR is Virtual Reality. Second Life is a VR world created by a company called Linden Labs. It's an interesting world to explore, but, a lot of fun. You can create many different things in there (including an alternate reality). I'd like to create a club garage and start a cool collection of user rides. But, first we need to create a base-model of the 240z that people can modify. Check out SL at: http://www.secondlife.com -- Warning, it is addicting. -- Mike
  21. Any of you know if a Datsun has been put together for the VR world Second Life? I'd like to get one going if not.
  22. Konig does make a 16" rewind. You can find it at Motorsport: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/WWC001H/25-1151 Panasports are also on sale there as well: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/PFW/25-1016 They are only 7" wide though... Not sure if you wanted to stick to the 8" + wheels or not... I've been doing some research on this topic and Panasports are at least double the cost of Konig's. Konig's are good for standard drivers, but, Panasports are stronger and will hold up to hard cornering and racing conditions. -- Mike
  23. Nate, what did you pay ? I'm looking at 16's, but, have been trying to justify the cost. I wonder why those wheels cannot be done quicker, that company has been around for years. -- Mike
  24. You should post this in the classifieds.
  25. Very sexy! Excellent work and THANKS for sharing. I loved driving the curves of the Great Ocean Road even if it was in a Holden.
