Interesting Differential.... R190?
It could be an R-190, they are typically 4:44 gearsets, but without a photo of the unit it is impossible to say. I did buy John's R-190 3:90, as well as several other R-190's for my Z and 510.

Adam Corrolla's "Ther Car Show".....hmmmmmmmmmmmmm!?
So I know Adam fairly well, as his cars are built and serviced where my cars are built and serviced, and I have raced with him over the last couple of years. First and foremost he is a Datsun Guy and that is a good thing for all of us. Adam's personal side is much different from his public one, and knowing the guy who has done as well has he has doing what he does is a good thing. He knows what he is doing and it is what sells. Adam wanted to do the Top GEAR USA, and would have been very good at it. Sometimes things dont go the way you want. Instead he has been picked up by SPEED with a better cast, and the beginnings of a new show. I think we have to remember this is new, and in being new they, (the producers) are trying to sort out the format for the show. Give them some time, I see improvement already, I think we will see footage from Monterey later in the year. I would cut him a break, give this some time and let them settle into their format, then critique what the show is or is not. PS Mr. Ganz is on this forum, so I would expect that Adam hears or reads about what you are saying about the show.

Oh, okay...The Blackburn car would have been the former Jim Gammon car which was the #3 BRE 240Z.

Hi Phil, your assumption is not quite correct. The Blue and white car in front of Logan is Dan Parkinson's 280Z #5 which is not a BRE car. The Logan blackburn car shown might be the BRE 3 car, but I am not sure. Dan had the #46 car but wrecked it prior to this photo, this shows Dan's later car that he built out of the salvagable pieces of the 46 car.

The only person I know with comprehensive parts for R-190's is Les Cannaday 760-940-6365. Ron

Great, that's even better news. My friend Tim Arnett will be there with his white and yellow roadster, and the plan is to try to group all the Datsun's together if we can. I will keep an eye out for you, and I will be driving my red and white Nissan Armada with RC Networks Racing on the side of my 20ft enclosed Carson trailer. Keep an eye out for us as well, I will be sure to add Lee and you to the list of known attending Datsuns. This should be a great time! Ron

Yeah you were Looose!! wow....Looked like fun!! So there are SCCA signups and HSR Signups and I have no idea who is where other than other racers I talk to. Come pit with us, we are working on a big lineup of Datsun's and if you know anyone else racing a Datsun let me know. We have had one 510 drop out so we are still at 15 Datsun's, this should be awesome!! Ron

An unusual sight, 15+Datsun's racing at Laguna the weekend of April 30th and May 1st. This is a spectator event come out and watch the Datsun's dominate. Walk the pits and see the cars and talk to the drivers!! We will be racing our Roadster, and are expecting lots of 510's, three roadsters and a couple of Z cars at one of the best venues for racing, Laguna Seca, in Monterey California.

Best option for a Lower Z
lowering springs will not lower your car very much at all, in my opinion. R

Best option for a Lower Z
Illuminas worked well in my street car with a modest spring rate. To get the car as low as you are mentioning, a shortened housing is necessary, otherwise you will have no suspension travel in the front of the car. Adjustability is a good thing too... Some of this depends on the wheels and tires you are running on the car as for how low you can set the car. Ron

A letter from Adam Carolla
Yes, I was there. It was a good event, several unique items were auctioned off. It was a good event that was well attended including John Morton, Tommy Kendall, Frank Honzowetz, Butch Leitzinger, Johnnie Gable and many others. We hung out with friends from the Z Garage, it was a good time. Ron

Alan, a little dry English wit! I like it!! Good to see a Nissan presence at Goodwood, Amelia Island and Monterey in 2010. Could Nissan be embracing their past??

Coronado Festival of Speed 2010
12 Datsun's this year! it was fantastic!! Great turn out and perfect weather. We lined up all the Datsun's on Sunday for a class photo. It was quite a sight to see! And it stopped traffic!! There were 45 cars in our run group of which 42 started the race on Sunday, so it was a busy 1.7 mile track with lots of action. We had a tough weekend compared to most, as we noticed issues with the roadster on the drive trough town on Thursday as my roadster seemed to be missing and hard to rev up. Friday's warm up confirmed that there was a miss and we spent all of Friday afternoon and Saturday until mid day dealing with this. About an hour prior to going out to the grid for our qualifying race we figured out the problem and repaired it. Only to go out in the 3rd lap of the qualifying lap when the #3 plugwire unplugged from the distributor, causing a miss again... We fixed this, and ran the car flawlessly in the Sunday morning warm up, and we had a great race Sunday afternoon starting at the back of the pack (40th) and finishing 22nd. I will be posting a more detailed update and the video of the race on my website www.rcnetworksracing.com in the next couple of days.

7.1 Earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand
Glad to hear that you and your family were not hurt, living in California we have had a little of what you have experienced....I was living in the San Francisco Bay Area in 89, for that quake. I am sure things will get better as time goes by, the Z community wishes you all the best.
