Don't click on anything that says "Guns" if you don't like to talk about guns. Sorry Scotta but that's a simple one. Just don't click. The thread title says "Pros and Cons", it doesn't take a side. You shouldn't have clicked and shouldn't have read. Guns are a part of American life, ignoring them doesn't make them go away. Sorry. With this thread you can read the other threads without seeing anything about guns. If this thread is removed then people will use the other threads to talk about them. I hope that it just fades away but if "guns" come up in any other thread we all have this one to point them too. Save the link.

People here are starting to get used to things, I think. Had a couple of ten foot conversations this morning. We're all just waiting. It's definitely quieter though, less traffic, both auto and people.

This is a WTF briefing. Must-watch. Trump is changing the topic entirely. Very strange. Counter-narcotics. Really looks like purposeful distraction. Not good. Trump even has the military thanking him for his leadership before they speak. Sad. Barr is up, thanks and grovels before starting... So, apparently, we are going to war with the Mexican cartels. Trump realizes that there won't be visible progress against COVID-19 for months so he is starting a new visible "effort" against another enemy. The first question from a reporter is "what has changed" since this has been going on for decades. Rambling answers. Even Barr is having problems keeping a straight face as Trump talks. Laugh/cry? Who knows. My apologies, I didn't intend to write anything. Just have to describe what I'm seeing, it's astounding. Trump made an order of PPE from Walmart and directed how to ship it. Really. Lots of talk about "The Wall". People can't get past it, they have to go around the edges. Trump reveals that he is #1 on Facebook. Yeah, the Navy guy answered a question about the Roosevelt without thanking or groveling at all. Just walked up and gave a straight answer then stepped back. The first part is over, the military, Barr and Esper leave. Trump speaks some more. The COVID-19 group comes in. Same old, name-dropping Walmart and Haynes. "Nobody's ever seen before" is on repeat. Back to classic Trump, rambling odd statements. Copying Cuomo and reading what Pence wrote, interspersed with his own bizarre phrases. No experts, just directly to questions. Trump answers a question about staying at home, nation-wide, and shows that he doesn't understand how the virus spreads. Incredible. Pence obviously does not understand "copays" in insurance. He thinks that the copay is a significant part of the overall cost of treatment. "The government will covering all copays for treatment". BFD, that's nothing. An earlier question to Trump about undocumented immigrants got the basic answer of "too bad, they're illegal". So they will get sick and spread the disease to everyone, legal or not. Another question to Pence about people without insurance got a bunch of BS from Pence about how the insurance companies are stepping up... for people that have insurance. He either doesn't get it or he's just BS'ing. Big failure in addressing how to stop the virus spread through people who don't get treatment. It's a lot of people. Now Pence is talking about transferring all test responsibility to the States. The end game seems to be to transfer all pandemic responsibility to the individual States. Typical for normal times, but these times aren't normal. Trump pretends to care about religion, and the fact that church groups can't meet. Although some do anyway. The new normal is going to be slow progress from the administration, daily death reports, and a focus on the new "counter-narcotics" war.

Watching the reporters wait for the briefing and many of them just can't resist rubbing thier nose or mouth after touching something. One guy will touch the back of a chair then another will touch the same chair and the second will sit down and rub his nose or cheek. You can watch these guys and see how the virus gets passed. They're like little psych experiments. Bill Barr is back... no doctors and a lot of military. Very different.

Does anyone really know what "stay-at-home" means? The message seems unclear even when an official tries to explain it. They say that you can go out to exercise but they don't really define what that means. Now they're threatening fines here in my state but I see people walking around the neighborhood all day. I feel lucky that Washington apparently is ahead of the virus, relatively speaking. That wasn't actually a question, it was a comment about myself. The questions were "have you, or any of your family members, had any guns stolen?" And are you advocating that every able-bodied citizen gets a gun, as a civic responsibility. To protect others. Just two basic questions.

I think that I misunderstood your comment here. Cuomo was the main topic but Kushner was the second one. Sorry, I think that I assumed you would be a Kushner fan, but maybe you meant Cuomo? My fault for not clarifying. I've been polarized. Various media sources are starting to turn their attention to Cuomo's past decisions. There's always something in the past. Here is a new thread to talk about guns. Some posts were made in a different thread making fun of people who were stockpiling ammo or buying new guns because of the COVID-19 virus. People have strong opinions about guns. So, here's a dedicated thread to talk about them. Here's where the other conversation ended.

Can we stop talking about guns? The number of guns in society will have no affect on the COVID-19 virus. I'm going to start a new gun thread. Give me two seconds. Here it is.

I think that's how vigilantes think. "I'm doing this for society". "They just don't know that they need it." I'm pretty well along in years and I have never thought "I really wish that I had a gun right now" or "I wish somebody here had a gun to protect me". Like I said earlier, different thought processes. Nice that you feel secure from a frontal attack. You might wake up someday from getting attacked from behind and your gun will be missing. Or a car or home break-in. Owned by a criminal. Have you ever had one of your guns stolen? All of the "I needed my gun" stories involve somebody being openly aggressive and giving time for a response. That's not real life. Here's the thing about these gun conversations - are you saying that everybody should have a gun and be trained in how to use it? Should we all have CCW permits, or even better, like some parts of Oregon, just open carry? Like the Old West. Because if you're not saying that everybody should have a gun then you're saying that only a select few should have a gun. How did you become one of the select few? Secretly protecting society with your concealed weapon.

Trump is talking now. He is still just a weird weird guy. I can't comprehend how his brain works. He started off by talking about how great the economy was before the virus. "Then we had to shut it off". Weird words. Now he's giving name shoutouts to corporate executives again. Bizarre. Has trouble pronouncing the big words. He's telling weird stories about people being "in a coma". Birx is up now. She is showing some good charts. Talking about hope, but it's still way early. Birx used the UW IHME model for her projections. Fauci is up. Talking about Italy's leveling off. Mitigation is the key. Keeps saying the word but hasn't defined it clearly. Masks or not? Not a word about masks... Pence is up. New motto - "30 Days To Slow The Spread". Nothing new. Just have to keep distancing and wait. Questions... Lots of good Q and A with the professionals. Now Trump is up and trying to spin things. "What would have happened if we had done nothing?" So that he can compare to 2.2 million. Trump is asked about face masks. So he decides to talk about New York and New Jersey. And Washington. Now he's talking about what if we didn't do anything again, and the guy in a coma. He's stuck in repeat mode. "Lotta death". He's really rambling and not making sense. He's asked again and says that if you want to you can wear a scarf. The experts don't have comments. And...back to classic Trump.

And halfshafts. I had a bunch. Usually the u-joints are fine and all you have to do is remove the screw on the Zerk hole, put a Zerk in, and regrease. Check the u-joint seals for pliability and rust. They dry out and break up. 280ZX halfshafts will work fine in a Z also. Cheaper and usually better than replacing yours with $20 u-joints that might be loose from the start. Also look for Tokico lowering springs. They're red and will say Tokico on them, I think.
