anyone....
actually if I read it right the bench top one was 535.00. I did a search on google and came up with some informational discussions on using the wheel. I'm thinking the bench top model may be just the one that would be perfect. This thing would make some real nice inner fender well patches and under the batter tray replacement. Be nice to get away slightly from the sheet metal brake and shot bags. The first time I saw jesse James use an english wheel to make a gas tank I was hooked. HS30-H...those prices are frightening! I have a subscription to "Practical Classics" and I am always looking at UK prices for tools. Some of the stuff is much cheaper over there but the shipping is what gets yah. I priced the full size model of the wheel, just about three g's.
-
anyone....
If I'm reading that right, 535.00 for the unit isn't bad at all. I can;t see that I would need anything bigger than that for the repairs that aren;t covered by replacement panels. I have def bookmarked that site! Thanks 2 many!

Insanity at its finest!
there is no stopping the mullett who owns a welder, some spare parts and a few cans of beer. Haven;t we all seen the pic of the 4X4 280?

anyone....
2many hit it on the head. This would make my job much more enjoyable for sure. The only one I have ever seen other than plans on ebay was in the 1500 range. That's a little steep on the budget right now, however they are hard to find for sale because they are still very widely used.

73 for sale---bit of a mess
You CA guys better hope that I do not win the lottery. I can promise all of you this....:devious: There will not be a Z to be had from the average Joe. I will buy every last one of them to be brought back to the massive warehouse I will acquire here on the east coast and then one by one, pump out fully restored cars. I will not stop at having just threee

Remove old undercoat or not?
Well in all honesty I would say yes you need to remove the old undercoating. See, rust starts under the undercoating, so something that looks solid, when you hit it with a scraper will reveal another story. I found several places in the inner fender well and even in the firewall that had rust you could not see. if you have the suspension off of the car already you are already halfway there. The car is probably never going to be apart more than it is now so why not address EVERYTHING now, rather than after the fact. do a search on the site about this process. Escanlon, 2manyZ's, myself and a host of others have posted tips about the removal of the undercoating, rust prevention, and restoration. Doing it RIGHT at this point, will surely help provide a long lasting, solid project.

ah ah got my new Z at last...
Great weathering technique on the exhaust. I have the 1/12 Tamiya kit also, however it's in the same shape as the real thing out in the garage. Undone!!! I kind of wish the tamiya wasn't a 'g' nose though. Revell made a special series of 1/8 scale kits, however no Z though

Need purchase advise
well if you offered the guy 5800 for it and he declined, then ZMEFLY's car is the next best option. you;re getting a realistic price for a club member;s car and you know the entire history of it!!! Take a weekend and a trailer and slide on up to the burgh! Honestly, your search for an east coast car in good shape is going to be pricy. Looking at the rust buckets I own, and have owned I could have bought two West coast cars and had them shipped. The major benefit to not doing that was the emchanical experience I gained. I do say though, this guy is waaay overpriced for the car he is selling. That car at best is around 3500. MOST IMPORTANT!!! you made no mention of what the underneath looks like
-
anyone ever seen one of these?
240Z...thanks for the write up link. The picture on Zhome looks much better in the silver, black and blue. That white one is totally hideous! and you'd have to leave it that way to retain it's originality. Off to a museum that thing would go
