L28 HP on Dyno.
Hi all, Got my car dyno tuned yesterday, the jetting in the carbs was wrong and I knew it all needed some work. They ran it up, found out what jets needed changing etc on the carbs, changed the jets and fine tuned. After all that they ran it up one more time to check the results and this chart is the result of that. Remebering that I didn't go in and say "How much HP does this make" this was purely a tuning run and the chart that resulted. I was wondering if these are the sort of results I should be expecting from an L28 and how it rates as far as other peoples engines go? Also this is the HP / Torque at the wheels, how do I then convert it to HP at the flywheel? This test was done in third gear. Thanks OzLime240Z

Aussie Parts Suppliers / Servicing
Hi all, I’m a relatively new Z Car owner and I was wanting some help with where is good to buy parts from in Australia, by mail-order, internet, or walking in. I live in Brisbane and I am already aware of the Zcar Workshop, but I would like to know of others around the country. Then I can compare prices or track down that hard to find part. So the plan is to use this forum to develop a list of Z car parts suppliers (new or 2nd hand) and Z car servicing in Australia, complete with their contact details to help all the newbies out here (like me). So here is a couple to start: Z Car Workshop www.zcarworkshop.com.au Underwood, Queensland, Australia Parts and servicing for early Z cars. Dashboard Restorations www.dashboardrestorations.com.au Acacia Ridge, Queensland, Australia Specializing in high quality Z dashboard restorations.

Z Kid, Shure looks like your car was originally Nissan Lime 112, can't be 100% sure based on the photo but it looks like it. To be 100% sure go down to your local Auto Shop (Like Auto Bahn or Super Cheap) and get them to mix up a tin of touch up paint in Nissan 112 colour then go home and paint a bit inside the bonnet and see if it's the same. I got a tin from Auto Bahn just recently and for a 200ml tin it was about $10 or so so it's a cheap check. 112 isn't common colour so you won't find it in the tins or spray cans of pre-mix touch up paint you'll actually have to ask them to mix it up. Aussie help?
Check out http://www.dashboardrestorations.com.au/ for their local site, has a bit more detail on how they do it. Also this guy : http://www.usq.edu.au/users/degroot/240z/ used them to restore his dash. He lives in Toowoomba a town just out of brisbane. His car is very nice. I myself have no experience with them however my 240Z has a replacement dash that I assume was done by them (since I'm in Brisbane) and it is really good. I'd go as far as excellent. So how do their prices compare to dash restorers in US? Catch you round OzLime240Z

Radiator Overflow Bottle.
Thanks I'll have a look this tonight and see how neat the one they stock is. I want one that fits really neat, so neat that it looks like original equipment so I may have to see if I can use one off another car yet. Anyone else got a suggestion? Thanks OzLime240Z

Radiator Overflow Bottle.
Hi Guys, My 240Z doesn't have a radiator overflow bottle. So what? Yeah good point. 240Z's don't have one from the factory. Well, I have an L28 in my 240Z and I would like to put one on. As she warms up it dumps water out. And as she cools down it sucks air back in. So the level in the radiator slowly creaps down. So I think one would make a great addition, but I want to do it neatly and properly (show car). Has anyone fitted a over flow bottle to their Z? If you have, or even if you haven't can you recommend a bottle off an other car, or maybe even an aftermarket one that is easy to fit to a 240? Thanks In Advance ozLime240Z

Whatcha got planned for Mother's Day?
Sounds good, I'll try and get there. We could have a decent flock of Z's. That would be cool. Seeyas OzLime240Z

K&N Air filter systems
We all spend allot of money on our engine and carbs so I guess it's important to keep the fuel, oil, and air clean. I'm not convinced K&Ns keep the air clean. Until about 3 days ago I was set to buy a set for some exorbitant fee. Now I've done some research I don't think I'd put them on my car if someone gave them to me.... It would seem foam is better. http://www.pilot-odyssey.com/~hoser/web/K%26N5.htm http://www.pilot-odyssey.com/~hoser/web/K%26N4.htm Some good points about surface area. http://www.seansa4page.com/resource/airfilter.html I like the comments in here about stopping the big stuff. Dont' we want to stop more than the big stuff? http://www.ctracing.com/air.htm It strikes me that K&Ns can't be all that good a "filter" because if you hold them up to a light you can see through them. Paper or Foam you can't. Also Paper and foam have a lot more surface area so air can pass through at a slower rate overall to acheive the desired flow rate. Sure Maybe K&Ns flow better, but that's no good if they don't stop anything! My 2 cents, but I can still be swayed. OzLime 240z

L28 Redline
I have an L28 in my 240z, it was there when I bought it. I have no idea what it came out of. I'm curious as to what it came out of.. but since it's an Australian car I suspect it's out of a 280C, or maybe a 280ZX, we didn't have 280Z's Either way it has a F54 block and an N42 head. My main concern is if it is out of a 280C how does this effect the redline. What is the Red line on the 280C? Is it as high as the 240? Or have I been over revving my engine So I guess my question is what is the redline on a L28 with F54 block and N42 head? Thanks In Advance Ozlime240Z

Brisbane Z Car Club
Hi All, I've only recently, like one month ago, become the proud owner of a nice 240Z. Anyway I'm chasing a Car club worth joining in Brisbane Australia. It doesn't nessasarily need to be a Z club, just a good club that does good runs and I can get help from to get me involved in the occasional competitive hill climb. The 240 begs to be raced so I'd love to give that a try. Thanks in advance OzLime240Z

National Z Show in QLD, Australia?
Yeah I'd be in with bells on. Maybe it's being held by the QLD Z Car Club. I'm not a member yet, but plan to be. Also the guys at "The Z Car workshop" in Brisbane might know.

Firewall grommets
Original Engine would be nice, but then it wouldn't be an L28 :classic: Anyway this one seemed to good to pass up. You can spend ages looking and see nothing but crap. This one was nice, local, and quick :devious: very original bar motor and gearbox. (interior is awesome) and has the original 72-73 no emmision 240z SUs I can put back on if i want.

Firewall grommets
Yeah that sounds like it. I payed allot less than $14K tho, it's been up for sale for a while. It's a really nice restored to original car but just needs a few things to be complete. It is at the end of a three year restore so it is in great condition with fresh paint. It was in desperate need of a tune but a little time with the Dopler radar (piece of pipe to the ear) and she's running a treat now. The chokes for the triple carbs aren't hooked up the the interior lever and really needs to be as it's hard to start on these 6 degree C mornings we've been having here in brissy, even though it lives in the garage. Most of the rubbers have been replaced except for a few firewall ones. I'll stick some pics up in the members area when i get a chance. Hey where do you get your Zed parts from in OZ. Any good suppliers / mail order crowds. Seeya OzLime240Z

Firewall grommets
Hi Guys, I'm new to the Zed scene having just bought my first Z. Anyway It needs the firewall grommets replaced. I've just put in an order for a motorsport catalogue but it hasn't showed up yet (it could be a while I'm is AUS). So I was wondering if somone out there could give me a price from motorsport (or some other reputable mob) for a set of firewall grommets kinda like these. Thanks in advance. OzLime240Z

What Year SUs are these?
Hi I have these SUs that came with my car. My car has an L28 with triple Delortos but I was considering putting these back on to restore it's 'stock' appearance. Anyway I was just wondering if I someone could identify them as I beleive the 70-72 SUs are the weapon of choice when it comes to standard carbs. Thanks in advance. OzLime240Z :devious:

please hep me find this....
Dude, a little patience, geez. :hurt: I was trying to track down where I originally got the picture from. It om here. http://www.autotrend.com/9519.html I modified it a bit, cropped, inverted, coloured to make it look like a blue print so it looked like the attached picture, but that's the best I can do for sourceing it.
