I'm both a Z guy and a Porsche guy. I have done the newer ones but they have lacked the soul my old air cooled 914-6 has and the Z has been with me so long the kids tell me they will not allow me to sell it. I just saw a beautiful Fairlady for sale with a distressed seller on the Z Registry on Facebook. It was closer to the East Coast IIRC. As for the newer Porsches. Avoid anything older than 2009 or, if you do get something older than that look for a documented IMS repair. If you're thinking Cayenne, the ones older than 2009 use plastic coolant tubes underneath the intake manifold that crack and leak. Porsche per their usual MO admits to nothing while they come up with a fix...

Thanks for the replies. I have a good 240Z tank in the car. So armed with these responses, my plan is to retool the tank with 3/8" inlet / outlet fittings and use a surge tank and a high and low pressure pump. I misappropriated the schematic for visualization...

So my Rebello 3.0 liter stroker is done and it will be MS3 injected with crank fired ignition. It occurs to me that there may be dramatic differences between the 240Z and 280Z fuel tank and fuel delivery. I'm wondering what you guys who've done this have done with your systems. Besides the obvious high pressure pump of course.

All absolutely true. And it wasn't just Nissan. Every manufacturer with a race effort or support operation evolved or homologated. My 914 is an example. I was able to find one of the 400 M471 "kits." Wind tunnel work was in its infancy, so everything was 'educated guess work' I'm sure. My 914 is clearly a slow flying brick (not so aero) so Porsche went the route of trying to get as much tire to the ground I think...
