Frank I will get you a button shirt from old navy when I get my shirts. The rest of us will get polo shirts. Frank was the first guy to ever help me out in the classic z world in Houston. I am happy to help

The great TEXAS Z Car (and foreign Car) rally - 2011
I am going to up the ante for these shirts guys. I found a place that will digitize the logo for 40 bucks ( I will eat that myself ) and then charge about 15 bucks to embroider this logo on any shirt we want. I plan to hit up old navy for some polo shirts, which are about 12 dollars to 20 dollars each. If you have a very special request, let me know SOON. Frank if you need a button up shirt let me know or will a nice polo do? The cost of the shirts will be the embroidery fee plus the cost of the shirt, I plan on making Zero dollars off this.

Fun at a Drivers edge track event this weekend
I totally agree. I want to get a nice matched set of bars for my car. Either energy suspension, or MSA kit. But as you know we need to do some work to even mount a rear bar. I am looking for a complete kit to mount the rear bar and a front bar. I already have a set of tokiko springs and struts that are more than a match for my all season bridgestones. I will follow your threads very closely from now on buddy!

I have only considered Tee's, long sleeve and short sleeve, but I can check into embroidered Polos or button shirts if you like.

I thought I heard something other than a set of SU's on there! Sweet sounding engine! I was going to ask you about your sway bar situation, but when I read coilovers, I totally understood.

I have a few designs I am looking at and getting prices on, but I have having a heck of a hard time finding somebody that will produce a small quantity without charging me over 20 bucks a shirt. I do not mind making the initial outlay of money if I know I can at least break even. How much would you guys be willing to pay for a Datsun shirt if it had this on the front left pocket:

power cones for roundtop carbs
I like the percentage gains/losses shown, but at what airflow was that calculated? Across the board, or at what RPM was the percentage power gain/loss measured for a stock 240Z with SU's, a 5.5% increase in power would be around 7 HP. That is not totally trivial. You would probably notice your car feeling a bit more 'spritely' with that.

Mid Range RPM Hesitation
When I first installed my Z therapy carbs it pulled like a freight train to 6700 rpm. I see no reason my floats should need adjustment. Bruce had them set perfectly the day I installed them

Mid Range RPM Hesitation
Hey guys I have the same issue as landmizzle for a while. In fact we should compare notes mizzle! I put a fuel pressure gauge in line to carb one and my stock pump was only putting out 2.5 psi. I have since ordered a new pump and will replace it next. I have new Z therapy carbs which I just balanced and a newly rebuilt and recurved dizzy from advanced distributers. Running new plugs and new coil and a freaking new balast resister that I am bypassing anyway! My car still is very unhappy revving past 4500 rpm. Check your fuel pressure bud. I wonder if it will help you out. I certainly hope it helps me! Let's double team this one mizzle !

Fuel pressure adjustment on stock fuel pump
will do...if any of you guys are running fuel pressure gauges, what are you getting from your stock fuel pump at idle and at say 2000 rpm.

The great texas Z rally now brought to you by Z Therapy! THats right, we now have a sponsor. I want to send out a public thank you for ZTHERAPY!! They were kind enough to donate several Just SU's DVD's to this cruise as prize handouts. Folks that is just a classy thing do to. They volunteered those DVD's as door prizes, and that to me shows how much they support our little classic Z club. I have seldom found a vendor so interested in making its current and potential customers so happy. THanks ZTHERAPY, you are a very class act!

Need to find out what the name/part # of these hoses are
Just a note, the ones that go through the firewall are custom bent to fit perfectly. You certainly CAN run standard by the foot hoses here, but if you want to buy it and forget it, with a perfect fit, I would go with OEM heater hoses. Again, I am a stickler for originality and perfect fit.

Fuel pressure adjustment on stock fuel pump
My 71 lately has been having a hard time revving above 5000 rpm. It starts to spit and sputter and just is generally NOT happy there. I have checked the Vacuum advance, it is perfect,, I have set the timing, it is dead nuts on and stable as a rock Set at 14 Deg BTDC as my DiZZY rebuilder recommended since he changed the curve to the european one. The car starts instantaneously and idles as smooth as you can image. Below 5000 rpm it could be a honda it revs so smoothly. So with timing not the issue (new plugs and wires and cap and rotor and pertronix is getting voltage it should), I moved on the the carbs, as it is acting like it is running very lean. I pulled the plugs which have been in the engine for maybe a year (about 700 miles), and they looked light light brown, but almost surgically clean. Installed new plugs as mentioned and nothing. Since I am running the pertronix flamethrower as well, I gap my plugs at 0.045". I have also tried 0.050" with no change in results. So I proceded to rebalance my carbs. Not that I thought they needed it. NO adjustment was needed to the air balance so I then decided to close the Air/Fuel and then go out 2 full turns. Car started up and idled like it always did. Smooth as butter. I then went a half turn more, and the idle picked up just a bit.. GOOD. 2.5 turns is about standard. I then went another half turn and nothing really happened. But since I was sure I was running lean, I kept it at 3 turns. Buttoned everything up and took it for a drive. Problem actually got worse. So then it dawned on me that I should check my fuel pressure. I put a T in one of the carb fuel lines and let the engine idle. According to the manual I should be looking at 3.41 to 4.17 psia at any engine speed. Well, I am at 2.5 psia to 2.9 psia when I rev it. Next stop is to buy a new fuel pump (as this is the original 41 year old pump) and see what happens. Does anybody sell a purdy OEM one, that is all polished up? Or can I adjust the fuel pressure on my pump

Can you drive 280z with the dash out? How?
Are you worried about it holding moisture Pops Z. Just curious.

Well if this goes well, and I do not mess things up too much, I will be doing this again. What really makes these cars worth owning is taking them out for a twisty drive with friends.

Another item on the engine compartment clean-up, how important are the air horns?
Oh, I get it, you are one of those pick-a-part multi-quote internet forum guys. Now I understand. Still, you are very thorough, can't fault you for that.

Engine oil flush
wow, you put diesel fuel in the crankcase! I wonder who was brave enough to try this first!!

Your arguing completeness ... In your attempt to educate or just look smart on the intewebs you can confuse most people. No, what I said was correct. They do that function exactly. However, it is not ALL they do, but they definitely do make the air flow entering the carb less turbulent. I will admit to leaving out the whole tuning the rpm range aspect of it, as that is an intake velocity discussion, which admittedly the air horns do influence. I just did not feel like getting into that. Also, it depends on what your definition of proper is I suppose. Datsun though enough of them to integrate them into the stock intake manifold. They were needed then as well. Proper has many meanings depending on who you talk to. If you want your L series to run as Datun intended. You NEED air horns.
