Thanks for the response folks.. I have sealed it from the inside with POR 15.. The problem I really have with a current fix is that the few body shops that have looked at it all say the same thing... They cant match the color. They all want to repaint the whole car to the tune of $4500.00 to $7000.00... I dont have that in the whole car. My point is this, if I leave it as is the worst that can happen is to eventually need to replace the hatch or at least need a more intensive repair. I do plan to do a major restoration in a few years. I do not drive it in winter but it still looks unsightly to me. I am having a hard time with the thought of a black hatch so for me it comes to leave it for now or repaint it now(ie.. start the major resto sooner than I want.) Wish it were an easy decision to make.

So I have this delema... If you look at the pics you will see the only rust on my car is on the back hatch below the glass. My paint is in pretty good shape and I dont have plans for a repaint any time soon. At the same time I dont want to have a visable patch job showing... my hood is bad enough, but livable... looks race inspired- my wifes words-. So do I fix the rust now and live with unsightly repair or wait 4-5 years and fix at repaint? What would you do? Thanks for inputs

My first impression is that your tires have to soft of a sidewall. When I changed from 205/60/14 Contisport tires to 225/50/15 Toyo proxis4 my turn in bite increased by 2 fold with only a minimal decrease in ride comfort. Not a definitive but food for thought.

They attatch to the holes for the original lap belts, using the bolts you take out of the stock belts.

I purchased two 5 point harnesses from Safe-Racer made by G-Force. They have cam locks and bolt in hardware. They are 3 inch thick through there entire length and I secured them to the original seat belt mounting points, using the original mount bolts. Check the pics and see that I mounted the shoulder belts to the rear strut mounts, again using the original nuts and washers. I then trimed the tower covers just enough to clear the buckles and snaped them back on. Hope it helps.

Not sure I see the "discrepencies" that you are seeing. It looks as though the car is complete and the production tag does not appear to have been tampered with. The current price is in my opinion not a bad purchase as well... $2100.00 will not buy you much more car than that these days. I think he's probably being honest with what he has and could make for a good Z to a new home.

My list went like this so far. 6:30 get up start Z 7:00 hit the road for 30 min. to find out McDonalds is closed. 7:15 dodge deer in road 7:30 get my daughter to Dialysis 10:00 get home to chill beer in fridge 10:05 clean up broken beer bottles in garage 10:10 get back from store with more beer 10:20 return for more beer (wife says its not enough) 11:00 realize rolls are not going to rise (return trip to store) 11:15 decide it is not worth the effort and start drinking beer warm. 11:30 answer wifes call to duty and cook vegi salad. Hey my day is half over. 12:00 get the car loaded for trip to inlaws.. gotta take the Caliber.. rather take the Z 12:30 log on to internet to say happy T-day Gotta go wife wants somethin again Happy Thanksgiving all.

I purchased My Z a year ago with 57000 original miles and in great "original condition". Since then I have modded the hell out of it taking great care to pack and lable every part for potential resurection at a later time. I have driven it to Driving Datsun fun in Oregon over 1000 miles round trip and put a total of 16000 miles on it this year. I wouldnt change anything I have done to my car so far... we will see in 10 more years or so... you never know when the "original" bug will bite.

So what is the deal here... I want Konig rewinds 15x7 - 0 offset with 205/60/15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A's and cant find the wheels anywhere. (They) seem to be out of stock or incorrect fitment 4x100 or anything but 4x114.3. I really want Grafite as well- Does anyone have a contact for me to get my hands or hubs on these?
