While on the subject of this show, I have to ask what it was the Seattle Police Department's presence was there to guard against. Those rowdy Sunday car show types?? Maybe just some cheap overtime? Anyone have history as to why they felt they had to be there......?

On any Early Zs or 510s or roadsters, taking the wiper mechanisms apart, cleaning and lubing them should be an automatic (when you get the car) and about every 2 years thereafter preventive maintenance item. Just like hinges and a bazillion other little PM things.

We mail DVDs to Canada all the time. They may be getting hosed for fees but we don't hear any repercussions.

Set the float level by backing the nozzle out 10 turns?? Not following that. When they were rebuilt did you replace needles and nozzles? Well, anyway, our JUST SUs DVD should show you what's up with these carbs and how to rectify issues.

If they are flat tops, they are flat top 38mm Hitachis, which are no problem, as opposed to the Z flat tops.

Get into a weatherstrip assortment and find a little like figure 8 extrusion that can be split with a razor blade. Steve Epperly found one at Home Depot that worked spiffy.

I'm surprised no one has tried going to a local glass shop for channel. My local glass shop has a catalog of a bazillion different channels. He can have what I need here in a day or two from his warehouse supplier. One need not go across the country or around the world for stuff you can get in your own back yard......

Well, actually all the datsun carbs are Hitachis. They were made under license from the British company that makes SUs. We tear down enough of both to go on to say that it's our feeling that Hitachi did a better job building them than did the Brits. FWIW Castings, machine work, etc.....
