  1. #1 Fairlady was used for US cars from 1962-1965. My 64 has fairlady emblems from the factory #2 There are much better examples for that price, there is one on Ebay right now for a BIN of $2700 #3 You don't need the 2 Liter motor. The 1600 actuall is more dependable, and parts are cheaper. A low windshield (62-67) 1600 is much nicer and classic than a 68-70 2000. The only way to get the low windshield and 2000 motor is a 67.5 2000, good luck finding one. #4 as with any car buy the best for the $$. A nice driver for $6,000 is much better than a $1500 project that you will dump $5,000 more in. #5 I have one of every type and they are all fun. 1964 1500, 1965 1500, 1966 1600, 1967.5 2000, 1969 1600 and 1969 2000. They are addicting.
  2. When I was looking for one I found that it is hard to find them used, and if you do find one, they are almost as much as a new one. I am pretty sure the one I bought 4 years ago is still worth what I paid for it...
  3. I guess the rule of letting this thread die does not apply to Will? Delete the posts from the ones that question, but not the ones that accuse?
  4. I guess I am a little different. I figure if someone can get a manual choke, no power steering, no power brake, car started and drive away, they earned the ride Most people under 30 have no idea what a choke knob is.
  5. Just because he bought it as a 29K mile car does not mean it is a 29K car. He migt have been fooled, don't let him fool you.
  6. You do know some of the restorations have been at that shop for 10 plus years don't you? Some already paid for.....
  7. The only issue I would have is the truck was donated to the place that is selling it. How does he know if the motor was rebuilt or the carb? In the original CL ad last month it said the motor was replaced with a newer one, not rebuilt... I would not be worried about the rust, it looks like mostly surface rust. Up here they all rusted away to nothing.... I also think his price is more than fair. If it did not cost $800 to ship it, I would have bought it last month..
  8. The one imported 3 years ago is a one owner, 20,000 mile car and was not $40K. Just because it is rare does not make it valuable. $40k is way off for one in that shape. I actually like the color though....
  9. Yours is correct for the 1600, the 2000s are different. Actually the 2000's have different ones depending on the oil pan (Solex/non solex setup)
  10. Both of my 69 2000 Roadsters have the E3000 dipstick
  11. If you are running SU carbs make sure the needles are not bent.
  12. MSRP on these was right at $14K. If you do a conversion to see what 14,000 1980 dollars is equal to in 2008 it comes to $37,171 So the dealer did not make any money
  13. Mufflers on the Roadster were black when new......
  14. From the Roadster forum in a discussion about wheels.... The junk yard is Pick'n'Pull in Oakland: 8451 San Leandro St, Oakland, CA, near the coliseum. The 510 doesn't have anything left but the body and frame. Body panels are dinged, but usable. I don't know what Pick'n'Pull will sell those rims for, but they're really nice. There was also a Z with a lot of good parts: glass, inside door panels, bumpers, rear lights, all body panels good except for front left fender. This car will probably be gone soon. There are lots of Zs in Oakland. Date of manufacture was 11/1970.
  15. Well he gets it from Les......
  16. Deloreans have been in the $15-$21K range for years. Not going up, not going down.... I don't know how much she paid for it, but I bet it is close to what she gets for it now. Not really making money, but driving a unique car for free for a few years.
  17. The 79 VW is the last year of the VW Beetle in the USA. 77 was the last sedan, 78 and 79 were convertible only years. The 79's do good money, for that reason
  18. North of Baltimore, maybe an hour from you at most. I know the Vintage meet at Carlisle will have a good turnout, they are starting to cater to the vintage guys again. I have been talking to the event staff about making Datsun a featured marque soon.
  19. There are usually a few of us Roadster guys there
  20. To me that is the problem. If you don't want to build interest in something you want, why is it fair for you to build interest in something I want?
  21. I have a different view. If you are going to post ebay items, post them all, even the ones that you are interested in, or none at all. I don't think it's fair to keep the ones you are looking to get a deal on to yourself, yet let others know about the ones I found
  22. Just found out Today that a Greyhound can get cancer, vet gives him about 3 weeks...
  23. The guy knows how to take great photos, and really "sell" the looks of the car. With anything else on Ebay if you look, there are flaws, but he does a great job of painting the picture.
  24. Every seller advertises it as a 1 owner car...... I count 3......
