  1. Just thought I would share the progress on my 1970 240Z Engine and Engine Bay upgrade. Engine is a Stage 4 from Datsun Spirit in Virginia. I went old school with triple Mikuni's (love the sound and responsiveness). It's been about 15 months to get to this stage. Lots of internal upgrades on every engine component, cam, crank, head, block, rods, pistons, valves, etc. Went Kameari Headers and Exhaust (Exhaust still on a boat from Japan), T3 coilovers, R200 Diff, 300ZX halfshafts, Disc Brakes Upgrade. TEC-gt200 Engine Management System upgrade for performance and reliability. Can't wait to drive it... DSI does some clean work.
  2. A great event this year! The weather was hot and so was Team Wodopian and their green 260z. Mike W took home first place in modified 260/280 and....... Best in Show. Nice job Mike! Team Wodopian's 5 man crew were sporting matching pit crew 260z shirts. All members of Mike's family from far and wide. First place in stock 240's went to Zup's beautiful flat top powered 73. Big congrats Jim! Jim's 3 person crew also has matching Zup approved shirts but Zupette & Tavish did not arrive in time to qualify for full team credit. Scott M. took 1st place in the hotly contested 280 stock division with his very clean red car. I think it was his new seats that put him over the top! Amid all the activity, he managed to sell 2 cars sight unseen (not to Cliff), a creampuff 280zx and his 810 goes to the new Nissan Heritage Museum. Another win for the NWA Club was Kent who took home 2nd place with his nice 71 in 240z modified. As a side note, you know you are at a great z car experience when even a pizza ordered from Domino's gets delivered in a 350z! (no joke) To add international flavor to the event, 2 couples, one from Europe and the other from Australia were in attendance. They were all just great people. Rudy & Irena were from Belgium. Rudy has a restoration shop that specializes in early Mustangs and vintage Z's. He really knows his stuff. From Brisbane Australia we met James & Judy. James is an active rally driver and loves the z cars. Judy won'''t navigate for him because she says ... they fight too much, lol. We all had a great time with these wonderful fun people. Mike W has a project car brewing and some of his discarded 73 parts he brought up to bestow on Zup. (see below) The big news of course was the ZCCA was in attendance and announced that Zcon 2019 will be in ................... Branson, yes Branson and will feature the indoor judged car show at the convention center. Since will be in July that is great news. A great week filled with fun drives through the twisties, food, beverages and great conversation. We were all sad to see it come to an end. Mike W & his son Alex pose with Best in Show One mans trash is another mans treasure ... Zup with Rudy & Irena from Belgium Run up to Table Rock Dam side emblem on gnose 350z
  3. Thanks! The styling matches the front of the house. I am pretty happy with how it turned out. I am guessing my wife may want several more. Since I am using up all the garage space, she wants storage space.
  4. Hi All, Finally after eons of thinking I'll save these puppies for that L28 I am going to build, the reality is I never will so out this kit goes. For sale SK SPORTS kit consisting of 3 x Mukuni 44PHH, manifold (no linkages), bakelite spacers, no ram tubes, full rebuild gasket kit including pump diaphrams, copy of the Mukuni 40 and 44 manual. The decal that goes on the top of the manifold is missing. Manifold has been media blasted. I have bathed this in a hot enzyme bath, scrubbed them up and they come up great but would really need a full strip, media blast the bodies and replate the brackets and springs. These came off a L28 which I never heard running so I can assume that all the bits are there. I've had the jets out and can confirm that they are all there. No reason to think that they won't work. But as these are so old and I never saw them running, I can't be 100% sure that they are in working condition. Just wanted to be very clear on that point. I have 2 x 40PHH which also get sold with this kit. Happy to not include them but may have parts or spares you may need. If you are interested, PM me. You may never see another SK come up for sale and imagine the "what's that" and "where did you find that" comment at your local car show event. Image below is from a google search I did (thanks google) and the ones I have for sale. These will be going on ebay in a couple of weeks if no one is interested here. I'm in New Zealand and will be in the US later this year so could bring them with me if possible.
  5. I'm getting the itch to purchase another Z, DSI will be on my speed dial for some engine work!
  6. Jeff, FYI:here is a long thread on optimizing 45DCOE's on an L28. We are getting closer to a final optimized state but there is one unfavourable parameter we have not been able to tune out yet . Hopefully we will get it resolved before you go to triple 45's so that it can help in tuning your application. https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/56375-weber-selection-and-initial-jet-tuning/
  7. I finished the 'tear down' and will now start sanding the entire car using 80 grit sand paper. I will pretty much sand off all of the paint down to the metal over the entire car. After that it will be off to Miguel's for body work and paint. Tear down went very well and did not break a single bolt. Everything looks to be in pretty good condition, so I am very happy with the hardware. It looks like the car was hit near the drivers side door, so I will be curious to see what that looks like as I start sanding. Will probably be sanding off and on over the next two to three weeks, then we will ship her out. Attached are some pics. Also added a pic of the back yard shed I built.....to store my boxes of car parts of course. And yes, the shed even has a sky light, insulation and drywall per my wife's direction. I guess she wants me to be comfortable if the need ever arises that I need to sleep in there ?.
  8. Ok, I forgot to mention that I normally have the rubber isolator apart at this point so the splines have somewhere to move. I know it seems like a lotta force, but I've had nothing but perfect success with this method and no broken or bent parts. Those rusty splines do not come apart with a little squit of WD-40 and a prayer....
  9. Sweet. I love it when a plan comes together! Keep your old one in your glove box just in case? I know it doesn't always work right, but it might get you home some night if the new one go wonky in a different direction?
  10. Lovely Thread! I rate it 5 monkeys! ?????
  11. The routing on the 73 & 74 is on the right side of the transmission tunnel and crosses over the valve cover. If you get stuck finding it, let me know, and I can supply a photo.
  12. Today I show you a new old stock 5speed gear box “ FS5C71B” which is used for Z432 , Fairlady 240Z series and Skyline GTR . ( this one is specifically derived to Skyline GTR , as a part number 32010-R5530) After Jan 1972, (for example HS30-10635 And after ) FS5C71B was applied, but gear ratio was different from other model. Those three types of cars has very nice ratio. 1st 2.906 (3.321 std) 2nd 1.902 (2.077 std) 3rd 1.308 (same std) 4th 1.000 (same std) 5th 0.864 (same std) Rev 3.382 (same std) I have a question about export Zs which have 5 speed , are they have this special gear box ? I am thinking using this for my 240ZG , I will replace S20 front section to its original L24 one then I will sell the S20 front section (so many S20 owners in Japan want to swap FS5C71A to FS5C71B, because it’s good feeling and plenty of parts availability) Also I need to have a spline type propeller shaft (my ZG has a flange type as an original , soon after they went spline type ) this one will not be difficult to find because so many S30 models used this one since September 1971 (I mean longer one for the diff mount changed) Or should I stick with its original gear box and propeller shaft ? Everything on this car is original down to exhaust tip with its build date stamp. Hmmm.. Alan , please let us know. Kats
