  1. With any patch panel, we look at how much time it takes to make a patch panel vs. how much it costs to buy one - many times, the aftermarket patch panels require a lot of work to make them fit to the body of the car - often taking close to the same amount of time it would have taken to fabricate a completely new one. If we see that the cost of the panel is close to the cost of the labor to create one ourselves, we often go with fabrication over purchase. However, if buying an aftermarket panel is obviously cheaper due to the complexity, we will always head in that direction or try to find a donor
  2. I owe you a Labatt, Blue.
  3. 2.5 turns, like the DVD shows. Turn them towards the passenger's side, all the way up, then turn them out towards the drivers side 2.5 turns. I live near the Gulf of Mexico and have mine at 2 turns out. I've never been to Panama but it seems like I've read that's a tropical climate and choke isn't needed. My car stays in 60 degree garage and my chokes are only pulled for 1 minute at the most. Sounds to me like you are using the choke as an idle adjusting mechanism. Are you using an air synchrometer to balance them individually with the screws by the dome tops? That's the way to set the idle. Your rear carb is out of adjustment or the float level is too high which could occur during shipping, it's covered in the DVD. Maybe watch the DVD again, it's extremely helpful.
  4. bp6es is fine. Adjust your jets so that all plugs look like this after a 5min run on the highway up to Colón at 130km/hr Pull over every 5 min and adjust jets until you get close like this: or [brand new plug] or
  5. Montezuma, KYBs are on the 240Z I have now and I had them on the one I used to have. I am not an aggressive driver but they have been fine on both cars. I have never been on a track. Mike
  6. My 71 240Z started doing this late last summer. At the same time it started killing the battery after parking it for more than 3 days without driving it because of parasitic voltage drain. After reading through numerous threads and endless hours of unsuccessful electrical troubleshooting of these problems, this is what I have figured out to remedy these issues. At first I thought the ignition switch was faulty. The new switch didn't change anything. I thought that maybe the new ignition switch was bad too, but before I got too carried away I decided to go back again and try to figure out where the battery drain was coming from when the key was in the off or lock position. So I do the thing where you look for amp draw between the positive or negative battery post and battery line with an amp meter. Now I've done this process in the past many times while pulling fuses and yes, there where two fuses that would kill the drain, but I wasn't able to pinpoint the specific thing that was causing the drain on the battery, and it was really pissing me off. So, this time I noticed a faint clicking sound coming from the passenger side under the dash when I pulled the upper left fuse, the fuse that powers the fan motor, which by the way would run if you turned it on even with the ignition off. Another unexplainable problem! It turns out that the clicking noise I was hearing is a relay that from what I have learned supposedly controls the hatch glass heater. The part# is 25230-E4100. It has a small cluster of wires with a 4 prong plug. After I unplugged this thing, ALL of my problems are gone!!!!! Also, when I first unplugged this relay I had no idea what it was for. Only after I googled the part# I learned that it seems to be a relay for the hatch glass heater. So far, nothing else seems to be adversely affected by disconnecting it. I have no idea how this defective relay actually causes these problems and since electrical issues are my least favorite thing to deal with, I'll just be happy with the fact that I dont have to disconnect my battery every time I park my Z at home, or worry about it going up in flames because of some weird electrical problem. And here is a pic of the offending relay. Hope this might help someone else with this annoying problem!
  7. I purchased a blem unit from jdm.com off ebay. I didn't notice any blemish at all. They look fantastic. $299. Sold my old ratty ones for 80 bucks on ebay. So I would say it was a good deal.
  8. Every Z owner is at a different part of the journey. Some just want 4 wheels, others want concourse....sure makes the world a beautiful place.
