  1. NOV 1969 S30 parts catalog The left dirty one has just arrived, I do not know why 'DATSUN' on top ! Some very interesting pictures are included, this very first Japanese parts catalog was my dream, recently I have got from Yahoo auction in Japan. Many pages are missing figure / diagram, i.e. the pages are blank. There is a note ' to be surplied soon' So you need to have a later version of the catalog to complete. I have been using MAR 1970 version, now looking at them side by side. Kats
  2. i'm assuming the 50k pricing is for injection molding tooling - an accurate, but very expensive way to do it. based on the shape, it would seem the dash could be vacuum formed or possibly done with high-density urethane foam. there are self-skinning foams that are used to make seats which form a precise and solid outer layer but stay soft inside. this might be an option because a flexible part would allow some install tolerance.
  3. I agree with Jonathan......stock rods are more than adequate for street driven Z's, as I believe are the Nissan rod bolts. There is usually plenty of used Datsun rods on EBay. If not, you can source a used set from zcarsource.com or some other supplier. Save your money for the head.....that's where things really happen.
  4. IIRC the last time I removed a cam (1995) I just dropped the rad down a couple inches. Of course after loosening the rockers. Sorry Colten, didn't mean to jack your thread man.
  5. I wonder if there was an earlier planned version of the comp roll bar which was screwed between the rear sill and the roof.
  6. Although we thought for a long time that these bolt locations were part of the production process, these pictures show us that the cars were carried through the assembly process on cradles which supported the car from below. Alan T provided this picture of the mounting for the competition roll bar that Nissan homologated. I don't think the roll bar attached to the roof cross-member but the captured nuts on the sides are definitely roll bar. Greetings Kats, 26th and 27th are fine. Have not worked on them in a while. Only the storage barn for 27th. It needed a new roof. Chris
  7. My 7/70 has them as well, I always wondered what they were for as well as the same ones on the inside rear under the windows. Maybe for jig attachment points before welding the body together?
  8. The 7/70 I am restoring has them------- I have no idea what use these weld nuts had/have. Pretty robust though--whatever it was/is! Jim D. "Zup"
  9. Just looked at my 7/71 and they are there also. Steve
