I'm going to revive this thread for a moment. I have been texting Shawn at The Unobtanium, and I sent him a picture of the nubbins. He asked me to send him one so he can try to reproduce them.

I reached out to Shawn R. at "The Unobtanium". The hadn't received an original to make a replacement from. I sent him one from my 77 280z headlight switch. He now has them on their website, now we can fix our switches with worn out caps! Thank you Shawn!

My internet search found your post here! I'm excited to get my switch fixed...on the affordable!

Does anyone know what material they're made from? And have they been tested? The pcitures are only of a disassembled switch.

Great that they're been reproduced. But no info on quality.

I will be receiving mine by the end of this week, I will be able to report back how they work in the actual switch. The fact they based it on my oem part from my 77 280z combo headlight switch for material and measurements, I'm sure that it will fit & function well.

Zed that is a buzz kill. Even if it lasts a year or two it’s a win….

Edit - Seriously, not trying to discourage anyone. But I think it's more complex than it seems. There's not a lot to see about background on the UO web site. Those printers are everywhere. Good luck to him.

This is not a decorative application. It's an enginered mechanical part. The material was chosen by Nissan for its ability to perform the function, for a long time. The wrong material could fall apart apart in two days. Who knows.

Probably worth a shot for $20 and some time. Too soon to be excited about it. Too many ways to go wrong.

Good Morning Gentlemen,

Our guys looked at the part and determined it was an ABS material. That makes sense for the durability of the part. We reproduced it in ABS to assure the same properties as the OEM Part. We are all car guys over here so we know the importance of doing things right the first time. We are always here to help anyway we can.

Not trying to pick on your company, but did they do any sort of scientific analysis? Many polymers look very similar. Most can be categorized by sight and/or feel but not specifically identified that way. I have some experience in the field of plastics. Was it "determined" or was it "probably" ABS?

Just trying to learn more about your organization.

For anyone wondering, this is along the lines of crimps versus soldering versus wire nuts. They all do the same thing but they're not all the same.
