Interesting find on my 240Z front bumper

So we stripped the 50 year old chrome off the front and rear bumpers for prime and paint.

It appears that the fronts were actually made in 3 pieces and welded together. Totally surprised.

I wonder if anyone ever knew this.

I'm not surprised. It was probably to simplify the dies for stamping the bumpers..

Huh.  Makes you wonder why they couldn't do the same for the rear bumper...

    I can see the lines on my '72's, right past the hole for the rubber.

    What are the chances that those lines are just marks from where the overriders "hit" the bumper?
