Pulling trans

Featured Replies

I pulled my engine out of my car already but now I want to pull the trans. Can I just pull it forward into the engine bay when it’s unbolted from the transmission mounts or do I also need to undo the propeller shaft bolts by the rear diff?

You can just pull the transmission forward but have something there to catch the drive shaft.

Ok good my propeller shaft bolts were put on by an angry ox powered by steroids it seems.. yes I have tried heat/pb blaster the works. So pulling the transmission forward just makes more sense now

Drain the trans first or you'll have a big, smelly mess!

No you want to keep that area dry.  Often transmission fluid works its way out from there.  There are seals but best not to test them.  Looks like you lost your protective rubber booty.  Toothbrush and a rag...
