Got tired of raising rpms to 1300 in order to use my a/C confortably so have decided to go this electrical way.  However, this idle stop solenoid is no longer available. Where else can i purchase one and how will it be wired?

Jalexquijano, Chickenman is spot on. I know some other (non datsun) old timers using the carb junky set-up and it works well for them.

It's wired in the same relay (double 87 pin) that activates the compressor. You can simply adjust the rod to the corrsct idle setting you need.

Only negative thing I have headd, is one celica driver was complaining about it not compensating for a cold engine, but the origjnal system didn't compensatd either. He was using it to de-fog in the winter when the engjne was cold and then it wasn't increasing the revs enough to idle smoothly.

GM made idle Stop solenoid on most of their carburated cars through out the 1970's and 1980's. They are adjustable and ideal for using as an AC idler " kicker ". They extend when +12v is supplied and collapse when power is removed. Fabricate a bracket and just splice a wire from your Compressor clutch power wire ( Blue wire ) and you're good to go. Much easier and more reliable than the Vacuum nonsense. 

 

Plentiful at Auto wreckers and cheap from most Auto Supplier. Here's just one I found on E-Bay. $24.75 :

I just ordered this one! Just need to figure out how to wire it to the AC Compressor and make the holding bracket.
