There is an oval-shaped cam-inspection plate on the front of the head.  I have two of them; one cheapo plating, and the other painted to match the block. Can anyone  tell what finish is correct for a '71 240Z.

Hmm...mine wasn't painted or coated with anything. Just a plain metal surface. And that's how Iv'e seen several of them.

I have 3 E88s and an E31, no paint on any of them.  They're all yellow plated like this picture, but 40 plus years old.
