Bought a 240z today, Perth WA.

Featured Replies

I just bought a 240z today in Perth WA.

Needs a bit of work, but I'm up for it. Should be fun.

It's my second 240z, the first was a 72 and in very poor condition. I Sold it years ago.

The new 240z is also a 72, but in a lot better condition (not much rust at all).

What's the deal with the speedo being in MPH? both of them were, but Australia uses KPH, and has done since about 1960something.

Anyone in Australia with a speedo in KPH? if so what year car is it?

I've borrowed a Digital camera from a friend and will have a few pictures up soon.

Hi Mr C.

Congratulations on your new purchase. Sounds like its a good 'un.

I remember a thread in the General Discussions forum a while back called "kph in a 240Z?" or something similar. It was this same conundrum of an MPH speedo in an Australian-market 240Z or vice-versa. Search for it and you should find it in there somewhere.

Looking forward to seeing the photos and hearing the VIN number ( always interesting on RHD cars ).

All the best,

Alan T.

Top stuff Mr C. Look forward to seeing the photos.:classic: This is the second Perth 240Z sale I have heard of in as many months - the market is practically boiling over!!!

Just out of interest, did you get the car through an ad in one of the papers or word of mouth?

Congratulations. Hope it sucks your bank account dry but still leaves you grinning from ear to ear.

Mine's a '72 and it's in mph too.

There is a thread on this subject.

I swapped mine [73] out and replaced with one out of a 260..

I've got two late 73' 240Z's which both had MPH speedos.

I bought a KPH speedo from SSS in Sydney years ago.

I believe it came out of a 260Z, which I'm told were all KPH's.

I'm sure Warren, at All Z parts in Thornleigh Sydney, would have one in stock for you.

This is a straight swap by the way.

While you are at it, you might want to consider changing the water temp gauge as well, from Fahrenheit to Celcius in a similar fashion.

I also want to change my Amp meter out with a Volt meter at a later date.

Yes you guessed it: 260Z as well. Good luck.

My 260Z '77 had KMH...dash was the same as 240 so you should be able to pick up one from a wrecker

Congrats on getting a 240 I know you have been looking for a while.

How did you come by the car, was it from the metro area.

More details required Mr C:classic:

Would be great to see the pics when you have them.

Regards

Lee

The car was advertised in The Quokka and this week on www.autotrader.com.au. Show us the pics when you get some (and send me your contacts for all those other Perth 240Zs:classic: )

cool thang.

can't wait to see those pics.

Will also have some pics some time next week.

keep us informed on what work is done on the z. Might be able to help each other with obtaining those hard to get parts in W.A.

Hi All,

congratulations Mr Camouflage, I am sure that you will have many fun days ahead of you with your new purchase.

It seems that I am missing out on all the WA zed action whilst being overseas!! But then again, I miss out on all the sales when I am home anyway.

Very interested to see the photos, and also the kind of prices that 240Z go for in Perth, when you can actually find one!!

The km-Tacho (Speedo) is from a 260, the other is mph from my '72 240. There are some differences in wiring and fixing.
