October 31, 200816 yr comment_264929 Oh no... please don't use the "F" word! It just starts fights. :laugh:Fe-Fi-Fo-Fine lookin car! With a downturn in the economy we may see an increase of high dollar Zs on the block, but also there will probably be fewer buyers in this price range. I think the importance of AC is totaly dependant on where you live and the cars intended use. I can easily live without it, but if I lived in a southern state, it would be a different story. October 31, 200816 yr comment_264937 At $39,500.00 its a bargain. There is nothing close in the Classic, Collectable and Special Interest market at anything near that price.240-Z's have been going up in price steadly for the past 5 to 7 years. 10 years ago almost everyone here wouldn't believe that a 240-Z would sell for over $15K, let alone over $30K. Most here never see a 240-Z sell for over $40K, but several have. We are just now entering the period in the collector cycle, that you will see these cars begin to double in value every couple years. It happens to all cars of this type... Check the prices on 55 T-Birds, 280SL M/B's, mid 60's 911's in #1or 2 Condition. The buyer of this car will look back five years from now and laugh at how inexpensive it was.FWIW,Carl B. October 31, 200816 yr comment_264944 I'm v e r y surprised to see a car of this caliber hit eBay. The Z rally banners are mentioned also - very surprising...almost disappointing. Putting this on eBay almost cheapens it...to me. Vintage Zs were constructed by four private businesses under contract with Nissan USA as part of a brand identity advertisement campaign in 1997 called "Dream Garage". Used HLS30 / 240Zs were purchased in the Southeast area, refurbished in California, and sold alongside certified 300ZXs (Z32) in the Z-Store program - ten selected dealers throughout the nation. Vintage Zs were sold "as new" with a 12 month / 12,000 mile warrenty. The "factory" reference dates to an article in Road & Track magazine; "Datsun 240Z, Factory Resurrected" by Douglas Kott in June 1998. That's where the F-word started. This particular example is "Ol' Yeller"; one of the later completed examples by Pierre Z. The last time I saw it, it was in new condition AA++. October 31, 200816 yr comment_264946 And I agree with Arne on the A/C issue. A/C just makes the car slower and who cares how hot it is...roll down the windows! October 31, 200816 yr comment_264953 I guess considering the state of your economy over there ,ebay might be a wise choice ,anyway the higher the price reached the better for all z owners as it pushes the cars up the classic ladder, which means that all those marginal junkers could see a new lease of life. October 31, 200816 yr comment_264957 I guess considering the state of your economy over there ,ebay might be a wise choice ,......Hi carrott:E-Bay is your advertising window to the world! One of the best "deals" the individual consumer or seller has ever had. Tens of millions of eyeballs at almost no cost. The numbers, size and scope of Classic Car Auctions have been growing for decades in the physical world, remote bidders can link in via the Internet and buy cars on-line. The natural progression is a movement toward virtual auctions on the net. If they can auction Ferraris on E-Bay, we shouldn't be surprised to see a Vintage Z there. It's only good sense. It is estimated that something close to 58,000 people in the US have a net worth over $20,000,000.00. I didn't see figures for people that have a net worth over $10,000,000.00.... but it's got to be double or triple the number that have $20M.I don't believe that a 1% or 2% increase in the unemployment rate, nor a 0.5% negative growth rate will slow many of them down. If anything, people with cash start putting it in hard assets during a resessionary period. Here's $40K you can keep at home and enjoy - rather than collecting 2% or less in a saving account.FWIW,Carl B. October 31, 200816 yr comment_264965 Down here in the south I need my A/C! I love to drive my Z, and when it gets hot (90 ~ 100+) you really do need something to take the edge off the heat. After getting rid of the boat anchor, putting in a new light weight compressor, switching to R134 and upgrading to the Honda blower motor, my A/C does a fine job! To stay on topic, this is a beautiful car, and I am surprised the seller is letting it go. Last time I talked with him he said he was going to keep it, as it was indeed the best of the 7 VZ cars he owned at one point. If only I had space and $$$ to afford it... October 31, 200816 yr comment_264973 It only helps to increase the value of the relatively few unmolested Z's out there. It will probably remain somewhat of a garage queen. Most of us, however, enjoy our Zs for a different reason. We enjoy driving them. To me, that is what it's all about. While I am certain that the value of my car will increase over time, at least I will enjoy my investment along the way, from the driver's seat.
