good point.. but i owuld think the shock mounts would be reinforced a little better than just being bolted to the inner skin..

i have a crap memory, and can't find any pictures, but i am sure that it bolts up to the inner side of the guard anyways, which is reinforced with the metal structure in the boot.. i will check that though..

we had a crap time trying to get the hired welder to work properly.. so when we get one that does, we will probably weld it up anyways.. just to be on the safe side.. :)

Having just browsed the 240K forums over the last hour or so and catching up on any topics I may have during my time away, I noticed one of the new member (Mobsta aka Jesse) having a little rant on how the car I sold him was 'dodgy' and a 'death trap'.

Before I go any further let me say that I won't use this forum as a slanging match, however since I sold him the car I heard from him once regarding an apparent issue with registration (even though I sold the car unregistered).

I will however just shed light on the obvious, particularly in relation to when people buy cars, and for young guys out there not understanding a whole lot about them. In my defence I will run through a couple of points;

The car was sold as unregistered, with the following faults;

1. Exhaust, required new or welding to attach.

2. Steel fuel line from tank to engine bay blocked; as a TEMPORARY measure, I ran a length of fuel hose direct from the tank to engine bay, this was secured to the underside of the body, never intended or recommended for permanent use.

3. Rust in bonnet; not severe at all, in fact the original gold paint was visible on this side as it was not sprayed. If this was an issue or such a severe hazard, anyone in their right mind would tend to this.

4. Auto trans reverse inhibitor switch; not connected.

Based on the above I decided not to sell the car with a RWC, even as insignificant in terms of $$ as I regarded it. ALL these points were noted upon sale/inspection and duly acknowledged by the buyer.

With regards to the good points of the car, where should I start;

1. L24E engine shaved .030" & 240K auto trans, 240K extractors (extremely rare for those who know), twin SU carbs in EXC cond, original condition, little rust, 99% of all mouldings in perfect condition, all accesories in perfect working order, no engine/radiator leaks, did not blow smoke/burn oil, excellent compression, VG handling, all suspension, ball joints, components, rubber boots, etc were very good, 280ZX series 2 alloys, SAAS steering wheel.

2. ALL of these items listed here were in VGC and VG working order.

The car was sold with a spare L28 N42 engine with exc compression, 280ZX 5 speed in GC, manual pedal box, clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, 280ZX turbo flywheel, spare 240K flywheel, clutch, pressure plates, spare struts, front and rear springs, brakes, twin piston calipers, brand new dual brake master cylinder, 2 electronic distributors, modules, standard carby, exhaust manifolds, inlet manifolds, C110 GTR flared gaurds, spare centre console VGC, l/r front guards, indicator lenses, front and rear bumpers, front light assemblies, rear light panel and lights, fuel pumps, fans, radiator, alternators, voltage regulators, window winders, 280ZX turbo oil pump, rocker covers, huge amount of spare gaskets, the list goes on.......

Jesse, do you not recall the car when you bought it? Even your mate who is a moderator on Ozdat said the car went very, very well upon taking it for a test drive (you couldn't for some reason). Do you not recall having to bring a ute along in addition to filling the boot & back seat of the coupe with every single spare part you could imagine for these cars? You were very content with what you were getting at such a price $2500.00, and to think that I PM'd your mate on Ozdat not long ago regarding buying back some of those spares that took me 10 years to accumulate from you! I'm a fool for selling that car at such a price, not to mention the spares!! Count yourself lucky mate.

Next time, before coming onto a website and slandering someone's name, I suggest you develop some form of experience regarding the topic at hand, in this case, automobiles, rather than simply read stuff off the net and claim to know what it is you're on about. As you said to me, you don't know anything about cars( I did not take advantage of this), you will pay to restore it ie L28, manual, etc, and you brought your mate along to test it, who was more than happy with the then current configuration (who wouldn't be!).

I am not dodgy, nor did I sell you a death trap, and the only reason I make this message public for all members to see is to demonstrate just that. Replacment bonnet??? You're kidding, someone is trying to make a buck from you!

When you've worked on cars for 15 years, come back and tell me what I sold you that day for $2500.00 was dodgy!

Based on the above, I rest my case.

I apologise to all for being a little upset and disappointed at having read Mobsta's post. This is the only post I will note re the above, I will not enter into a debate with this user via the sites forums, nor do I intend to off line. I appreciate the value and information this site provides for all Z & K owners, and I am sorry for this one off occurence.

Regards, James

holy **** !, you are a fool for selling all those parts with the car :(

hope you guys work it out (and since we are a pretty tight nit group, we certainly don't need any forum politics around here).

That certainly sounds like a damn good deal though i got to say!, Common sense sort of has to provail if you buy an unregistered car without a RWC, they are not brand new cars... there is ALWAYS something that can and will go wrong with them! (trust me, it took me 3hrs to drive 30km's today in my 240k :D), you certainly can't compare them to the cars of today (brakes, reliability etc...), but that is one of the reasons we love em!

Hey James, I thought it was a bit odd he slagged your car like that. Nice to hear the other side of the story...

For that price you could hardly complain. Some of those parts... I'm still looking for. Priceless, you might say!! You know it as much as any of us. Don't know why you sold at that price... We'll blame the valium..err.. valiant I mean!!!

I tried to buy some of those parts that were "taking up precious space" once you had given/sold them to Mobsta, but I couldn't get a reply from my PM :(

Speaking of websites, though i'd post this here you you all got an email about it ;)

There was a website by a guy somewhere in kuwait (accordign to alfa, posted on skylines australia). He just copied pictures of C110 skylines and put them up.

Anyway the place it was at, it isnt any more, and there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth, until now.

So you members of skylines australia (you know who you are) can post it there too.

Yep, ya were a fool alright for selling all that for such a low price to some guy who doesn't appreciate the car. We all know that these are "project cars" that will never be "right" and will consume a lot of time, money and care to keep them running, not to mention hunting down those elusive spare parts.

I hope things work out . . . this board doesn't need flames, rivalries, and dissent.
