I posted a thread on here a few months ago having to do with my 280z not running. After checking the fusible links, battery cables, contacts, grounds, any and all other suggestions that were made, I decided to get my battery load tested (per suggestion) and sure enough it had really poor amperage. So i get the new battery and still the car just wont start on its own. When I jump it, it runs fine and I can start it maybe once after that, without a jump, and than nothing. Could this have something to do with the starter, or starter solenoid? Im not as experienced with cars as others, so Im trying to glean all the information I can, any help is really appreciated. I've got: 1. New Cold Start injector 2. New Plugs/wire 3. New Vacumm hoses all round 4. New Fuel Injectors, new wiring harness/pigtails I'm only getting 11 MPG -tail pipe is black and I can smell gas/fumes while I drive. Thanks for any tips to check next

I've read all the posts, searched all forums and have a pretty straight forward question on a potential entry point for exhaust fumes. Here's the scoop: The car in question is a Series 1, 1970 240Z with the vented decklid. This weekend I installed new tail light gaskets, replaced all the grommets for the fuel expansion tank, spare tire well and floor, sealed the nefarious antenna drain hole, replaced the deck lid gaskets. I even sealed the license plate light assembly just in case. After all that, I'm still getting a whiff of fumes in the car. Not as bad as before, but I still smell like fumes after driving. Is there any difference between a 260Z dash and a 280Z dash? My 1978 280Z has a crack in it and I found a crack free dash from guessing 1974 260Z. Will this work! Thanks

Hello all I'm having an issue with my 1976 280z. Since about early November that car has a bit of an issue when idling once it warms. Best example would be I drove to the store earlier today. Parked outside went in for about twenty minutes. Came out and started the car. Car had a hard time idling and the tach jumped between 600-1000 RPM. I revved the motor and held it at 2k for about a minute or two and it evened out and drove fine the rest of the day. Any ideas as what this could be? I've replaced the temp sensor (for the ECU). Haven't done a tune up but the plugs look good (although they're champions). Ideas? Jan

Hey everybody. Today a woman pulled out in front of me to turn into a restaurant and I basically t-boned her. Everybody's fine and in fact it didn't even do much to her car, but my beloved Z is..... I don't know. I was just wondering if anyone had experience in getting in wrecks in their Z's and how hard it turned out to be to get body parts and all that and if it could be repaired. The wreck was totally her fault and I have a bunch of witnesses. So basically I could use just about any sort of advice right now because I'm really upset. There doesn't seem to be any damage to the motor, radiator, or anything else; when I start it, the throttle is stuck but that's about it.…

New to the forum, so hello! Had a few Zs back 20 years ago as a kid. I recently picked up a pair of 78s both of which have been sitting awhile. The one I'm working on now has been off the road since 2003. The previous owner had it a couple of years and it sat unused. Prior to that, it was stored by the original owner's son where it also sat, being started occassionally. The Z has rust and is nothing special, but hasn't been hacked on so I picked it up. The owner I bought it from said he started it once a month, but it had recently quit starting. Hey guys, I got the quarter windows and frame back together with no problem, however installing it back in the car is giving me problems. How does the outside rubber attach to the frame? I know I have to use adhesive but does the U channel go up or down......or do I have the right piece. If anyone has pictures of how the outside seal goes on please post them......I'm a visual learner...:bulb: Thanks for any help, I do have Wicks book but it doesn't help (or doesn't make sense) PS.....1970 240Z
