I have a stock '70 240Z, im getting ready to drop in a 5 speed from a '78 280Z. Looking at MSA and Black Dragon they both list different parts for '70-74, and 75-83 (non-turbo coupe). Which one do I get? Im using a refurbished stock flywheel. Thanks!

Ok. Went to start the car after hibernation..Heated warehouse, 18C/68F for the whole duration. (I know my head gasket is due around the no 6 cylinder..) Full choke, car started ok, but then, after 1 minute, even if I release the choke lever slightly as I do normally, the engine starts to putter, blurb, and exhaust did loud noise.. Press the gas, niet... dies.. Start the car again, same problem... I have checked: Gas: OK, I had a full gas tank in fall last year before storage Gas filter: OK I'm on my way to put a Pertronix, but before that, I suspect my tabarnak de pointes are causing the problem, even if they were changed at the end of last year's summer... Any help?

Recently replaced the old piston a/c compressor with a new rotary compressor. my z runs fine and idles at around 900-1000rpms with the a/c off. after running the a/c for about 15-20 minutes and i stop at a light or the car is left idle rpm drops to about 4-500 and eventually stalls out. don't know if this changes anything but the fuel pump was also replaced and had an electronic ignition installed as well. had the problem before I changed them but it still doing it now. any ideas, please help.

This may be a dumb question, but do you need to do anything to prep a transmission or differential for storage (months to a year or more)? Both have been removed from operating cars and have had the oil drained. Should they be stored filled with new oil? I bought a can of Sta-bil fogging oil and was considering using that instead of filling them with oil. Has anyone used that before? I read on HybridZ that someone sprayed the interior of a differential with WD-40 and opened it later and it was completely rusted inside. -Mike

In my 3.1L motor that I am building with a V07 crank, I had it lightened by turning down the counterweights (knife-edged) and would like to take it one step further with milling a hole in each of the rod journals. Just curious if anyone here has done this and if so what diameter hole they milled (or drilled). It appears to be possible to do but would require repluging the oil galley hole inside the newly drilled lightening hole. Seems like this could remove quite a bit of material off of the crank. __________________ Scott www.cardomain.com/ride/3154164 3.1L 280Z in progress.

Good Day everyone, I have a general question about the stroker engines out there. We built one and it recently beat the middle crank bearings up pretty bad without much time on the engine. My belief is we turned it too many RPM's and I want to know from the list if there has been a general consensus of where NOT to go with the RPM's on these engines, or where the harmonics are. This was a professionally built engine with very good parts. Thanks a million, Greg Ira Revtec Race Engineering www.revtec1.com

I just recently got my z running, while the rear was up on stands I found that when i turned the right (passenger) wheel, the left (driver) wheel would spin the opposing direction, just like all the other cars I have owned. But when I try to spin the left wheel, the right wheel stays stationary. I started the car and put it in first and both of the wheels were moving. Also the other day when the ground was wet, i could only spin my right tire, not my left. I have heard that sometimes the spider gears will give out in the diffs, what do you think it is?

I did some searching and couldn't find a solution to this problem. I have a 1971 240Z that I have recently restored. We have had an intermittent problem that has popped up occasionaly since we purchased the car 3 years ago and it continues to this day. It will intermitently run extreamely rough and virtually stall when hot. Its is like its dropping one carb. I dissassembled and cleaned the SU carbs per the Z therapy video (several years ago). The fuel tank has been cleaned and treated with POR. The fuel lines have been cleaned, flushed and all of the hoses replaced. I added an electric fuel pump from an RX7 in the back and replaced the mechanical fuel pump up front with a…

Hey guys, First things first, 72 240, on startup after sitting for a few hours I get this knocking sound for approximately 4 seconds. It sounds to me like the knock you get from the oil pump when you change the oil in a small block chevy as it fills the oil filter. I just bought the car and the PO changed the oil just before I got it, I don't know what weight he put back in it. It holds about 45-55psi going down the road and about 10psi after an extended idle (about 5-10 minutes). I am going to do an oil change again and maybe go with 15-50 or 10-30 and see if that helps. My question is do the oil pumps in these engines have a check valve to keep some oil at the pump…

I was thinking of rebuilding and have some questions that rise from lack of experience. Is it possible and or wise to pull the engine and have a machine shop perform the rebuild and then I just reinstall it. This would be both bottom and top end. In addition, since I am rebuilding I was considering beefing it up by boring etc. Would the machine shop know what must be done or do I need to have some motor knowledge to advise them. I would like to max it out. It is a 1974 260 so my understanding is the car already has the stroke so maybe a bore and domed pistons, beefy cam...??? Any suggestions would be appreciated Oh by the way I am in Arizona so any suggestions as to a lo…
