  1. No I am so lame with the ol digital camera, I have many around the house and have not taken the time to take many pictures....but I will...I will try to get them this weekend. Believe it or not southern Cali is expecting rain this Saturday so I will try to do it on Sunday and I post the pictures on this thread. I really like my Wesco Performance belts, they work so great unlike the factory set that would always lock in place. I think you will like the way they look in my car too.
  2. I got mine from this place: http://www.wescoperformance.com/ I love the belts they mount in real well. The service from Wesco is great, I ordered them one day and the belts arrived the next. 3. How about USAA, they are great.
  4. They do it all the time in old car magazines, so I thought the thread was a good idea.
  5. I hate to say it but this guy needs take the money he used to post his ad and go buy a clue. If he had a drove home from the dealer, parked in a tempeture controlled enviroment garage then he might get $20K for it....but in the condition that car is in, 5K tops.
  6. Given the choice between 105amp and 120amp; why a 105amp? why a 120amp? I have a mostly stock 73 with a small amped stereo. I just brighter headlights and faster windshield wipers. The 105amp at $199 is not a bad price....right?
  7. I need to be more clear on what part you are talking about. Are you talking about the bushing that is on top of the strut? When I change the springs on my 240Z I did not like the ride heigth, so I went to the local pull your own part, paid the guy roving the yard $20 to remove 4 bushings from a 280Z for me. I got the four bushing in no time, paid $20 for all four and off I went only to discover that the rear ones are the only ones I wanted. It turns out that the 240s had 2" on all four corners while 280s had 2" on the front and 3" on the back. I put the 3" bushing on the rear of my car and I was very happy. The car now has a real nice stances and rides great. I hope I anwered your question in all this talk. If you want a pair of short bushing for the back and used will do, all I would need is a enough $ to mail them to you.
  8. Much like Gary, Enigma and KMack I have an all original number matching 73Z, I don't see much sense in keeping it original and have since decided to go for a free rebuilt L28. I will keep the L24 for future prospects. I unlike the others will keep my car an automatic (family reasons and the main reason I even have the car). I really need the extra horsepower from the 2.8 to get my car going faster forward. Unless you got a very low VIN # Z I don't think originality is a very big deal at this time. Enjoy the Ride.
  9. How many vendors and cars are expected?
  10. Eric, You want to talk about real regrets? That G-nose was sold to the guy in San Francisco by a guy in Huntington Beach for $800.00....now for the regrets: My friend Joe and I could have gotten it for $500.00 and we passed. Why? I don't know we are just dumb I guess. The history on the G-nose is that it came from Japan for a guy who was going to build the ultimate Fairlady until he did the dumbest thing a car guy could ever do: He got married. So he went to unloading his extensive JDM parts collection. Many of the parts were too expensive for the guys on this board. The seller originally listed his orange Fairlady on Ebay, the car did not make the reserve and ended with a highest bid of $9500, the seller wanted $20K for everything. Long story short it was a great G-nose, I think the San Francisco seller got $2000 for it.
  11. Is the guy firm on price? Bumper? It looks like it would be a good project car. Hopefully this car finds a good home like the Arizona Desert Rose did.
  12. Most likely abandoned or lost titles, unlikely to be stolen. Old rust bucket 280z are still common in the local "Pick your Part".
  13. Mohamed, Jon is right....I had to change the insulators and put bump stops on my car after the new springs were installed. I was so easy so you job will not be as bad as you think. Besides when your car is sitting nice you will be so happy you took the time to fix it right. Have a great day....
  14. Don't feel so bad, it is what it is, what done is done. I paid about the same at place here in San Diego that is pretty famous locally for custom free flow exhaust systems. The place I used is the type you need an appointment to get your car in and the price is said up front: It is one standard price for free flow exhausts with Dyno Max mufflers for Z cars. Bottom line is live and learn and as long as you are happy with the work and the sound of the car just let it go and enjoy the ride.
  15. I have a set of those side skirts you like in the MSA picture. They are from MSA and in perfect condition. They are currently on my 78 Driveway Queen. Get em before I list them on Ebay.
  16. Is the car smoke gray color? If so I think I saw the car in the employee lot at Sea World here in San Diego a couple months ago. I was there in the employee lot picking up my daughter, I parked right in front of it looking it over for about 15 minutes....I had the same colored car R32 in Yokosuka when I lived there. It was a blast to drive...had to give it away when I left:( .
  17. Welcome to the board. This a great place to get motivated to get your late uncle's car up to showroom new condition. There are many great Z owners on this site with a wealth of great information and advice is invaluable. Some guys that come to mind are 26th Z (a guy who owns Zs with vin numbers 00026 and 00027, if you can believe it), Arne, Carl Beck, Beandip, just to name a few. If I were you I would look more to the south for help vice Cincy direction. Of the cars you have that need to be restored, I think the Z will be the most economic project. Parts? Classic Datsun, Motorsport Auto(just click on the banner above), Black Dragon and Zedds just to name few are great places to get the parts you need. Currently there is a poster in Arizona who is restoring a nice early Z with son. It was found in the desert on blocks along with a resident snake. If the pictures of the restoration don't motivate you....nothing will. Again welcome and don't wait to fix that car up, if you don't have the time....may I recommend....that you start collecting the parts you will net to bring it up to standard. It is wise to purchase many of the parts before they become unavailable.
  18. How about that side mirror; it looks pretty good. How about the bumpers too? Looks like the car has a nice resting place there. Had a Z just like her at one time.
  19. An interesting item has just been posted on Ebay. I am not sure if they are selling set of each color or what??? I will fire off a question to the seller. The seller has "0" transactions, which is always a cause for concern. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110048314332&fromMakeTrack=true I finally have the name for my interior color: Parchment.
  20. Carl is so right. What he says is exactly what happened to me. I got a 98 thousand original mile 73 for $6K a year ago. It was purchased in Pennsylvania and I live in San Diego so add another $900 for transportation. Once I got the car, I did not like the tires so I got new ones, then I did not like the exhaust, next I was onto springs and struts, next the points had to go, so in goes the Petronix, then the cooling system is not to my liking so I buy a 14" aux fan. A man who loves to listen to tunes as he drives, I needed a stereo, which lead to me needing a speaker box for MSA. Now I am getting ready to replace the original 2.4 with a 2.8 which is more $$$, I also want to get new interior plastic and diamond vinyl from Classic Datsun. Of course the car was not perfect, it needs a small repair on the passenger side floor board right under the tar mat which noticed when I had to fix a bottom out dent caused by bad springs and struts. Doing some simple math I am in to this car for over $9K and still needs the $3to5K paint job. Right on Carl, you know what you are talking about.
  21. On this subject; What about the blue that I see on some cars, especially on Fairladys. Is the light blue a common color? I know that the orange was more common but I was just curious because I would prefer to do mine in the light blue vice orange.
  22. Take pictures....it would be great to see it in its present state.
  23. Did you tell them about the value of the low vin # to help them make more $$$ or so that they sell it to someone who realizes it as well and will not part it out? My guy is still interested in picking up a 240, but this one is not right for him because he wants to gut the interior and wants to Japanese turner the interior, I don't think that vin #1032 should have that fate.
