  1. Ah, I stand corrected.
  2. that's damn funny. She got some balls going up there with those bronze beauties.
  3. Good luck with your project. Damn those are some nice looking rims. And actually I think MOST of use are in the US but we do have quite a few members from around the world and a fair amount from down under.
  4. Ditto on the sentiment and bottoms up to all!
  5. AOL is a malcontent's paradise. It's nice that AOL is providing all these new tool to help thwart spammers, hijackers, and malicious content, unfortunately most of the ppl on AOL don't know what to do when the tools alert them or when something is actually a false positive. The only way to resolve this is to edumacate yourself on how malware works, how it propogates itself, and how to get rid of it. Start by looking at the help files and tutors provided with the tools themselves. Beyond that here's a good place to start: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0764575910/qid=1136063324/sr=8-14/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i14_xgl14/104-4979063-7608758?n=507846&s=books&v=glance

Life is too short to sweat the small stuff. So don't.
  7. If I lived in New England and had to make a choice between the two, I'd probably go with the IH Scout. However, I hear parts are even harder to come by than for the Z.
  8. When removing the diff on my '73, I noticed that the strap was not inline with the area it should obviously be lined up with on the diff. The strap actually rubs against the rear edge of the front diff bolt housing. In other words, the strap is actually bent to the rear in order to sit in the intended groove. I guess they moved the diff back but left he strap in the original position. I wonder if I can move it back. guess I'll find out when it's time to put it back in.
  9. Seems to me you could just as easily make a roller that mounted to the same points as the rotisserie(bumper mounts) rather than the wheel hubs. This would also allow for removal of the suspension components. If I ever need to do this I think I might just go that route. With the solid body and paint I have, I doubt that's going to be any time soon.
  10. Be nice Unkle. She's a new mommy. Welcome to the club. Oh and FeliZity, there are some decent pics of the trans tunnel and the diamond covering in the pics linked from my signature.
  11. Dave, the file size of the Word doc is directly related to the file size in kilobytes or megabytes of the pics you inserted into the doc. To reduce the size of the Word doc you can resize the pics before inserting them, or possibly even save them in a more effecient format like .JPG if they're not already. And thanks for the file. I plan on getting to this as soon as I'm done with the suspension mods.
  12. Well based on memory I thought mine was going to be the exception. Apparently not. My Dark Brown Metalic '73 240Z has also had the radiator support hand painted flat black, and a poor job it is. It was not painted from top to bottom but started about 6" down from the top of the support and stops right at the base before the front crossmember. You can see where the paint ran down onto the crossmember and then down the front. What a slop job. I'm glad it's not visible from the outside.
  13. No ideas on the needle but I know someone is gonna ask.....are you running the stock flat top carbs or have they been replaced with round tops. Someone might be able to help you with the round tops but I'm not so sure about the flatties.

zhead240, sounds like the lock on your hatch got replaced at some point. One of my keys fits the ignition, doors and hatch, and the other fits only the glove box. I assume this is the natural order of things. Do you have a 3rd key the works in the glove, or are you missing that one?
  15. Welcome to the fray. There's a lot of grat info here. I'm sure you'll find it useful. I know I have.
  16. Yeah, I ended up putting the pads back in so I could get both pistons out. Sounds like I went hrough the normal trials and tribulations of your typical Z newbie. The pistons are fairly clean. Just a few nicks and a little marring but nothing that can't be fixed. Thanks again for the help.

I believe the key pictured in the referenced auction is the type used only for the glovebox. Zhead, what exactly do you mean my left and right groove? Looking from which perspective?

I have two original sets of these for my Z. One set used and one not.
  19. Well I got the pistons out with air from my compressor, but I wish I had read the rest of the posts since last night because I learned a valuable lesson the hard way. The pistons come out of the bore with extreme prejudice! My finger hurts like a son of a bitch. Nuff said. Thanks for the help.
  20. Thanks Montoya, I'll give that a try in the morning. I hope I can get enough of a seal on there to get them to pop out. They were working before I removed them and both pads seem to be the same size so I don't think the pistons are seized, just sticky. Ever seen one of these? http://www.autobarn.net/lis28600.html If the air pressure thing doesn't work, perhaps rotating the piston while applying air pressure would help. We'll see.
  21. Welcome to the world of Phishing. I've seen these from eBay, Amazon, Citibank, Bank of New York and many more. The main rule is not to click on links from within an e-mail when someone is requesting that you provide any sort of information, and certainly that you don't provide any private info on a page linked to from the email. Legitimate emails will direct you to visit their website via the registered domain name you are familiar with. I generally ignore even legitimate requests and go directly to the site myself anytime a vendor asks me to update or confirm any of my info. Better safe than sorry.
  22. Well, I'm at the point now where I'm ready to clean and rebuild my brake calipers. Unfortunately I have already removed them from the car as well as the rear wheel cylinders and I can't get the damn pistons to come out? Is there a trick to doing his when they are off the car?
  23. Congrats! Shore looks purty. Can't wait to see more pics.
  24. My mom surprised me and got me the exact Blue Datsun Logo shirt that I wanted, as well as the "How to Restore Your Datsun Z-Car" book by Wick Humble. Unfortunately I had already purchased this book for myself. I still can't figure out how she found and b ought the exact shirt I wanted. I never even mentioned I wanted anything Z related. That's Moms for ya. She always one step ahead of me.
  25. I believe these were already posted here by the owner, Phillip(Mull) from over in sweden. Interesting thread and story. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17399
