  1. IMHO, if you're going to do stripes, paint the dam and spoiler the same color as the car and carry the stripes over them. Otherwise, lose the stripes and paint the dam and spioler black. The reverse stripe just looks bad all around.
  2. Nice. I'm sure that must feel good to crank her over after being down for so long.
  3. I've never seen or heard of one before seeing these pictures, but I'd kill for one of those Toyota 2000 GTs. Sweeeett!!
  4. This is a nice, clean car. We could sit here and pick it apart, but why?
  5. Correction to my post above. Apparently the F54 came with both flat top and dished pistons according to this: http://www.geocities.com/zgarage2001/z.html
  6. There's an old lady who lives in my neiborhood that drives what appeaers to be a near concours example of a 2 door 510. I don't even want one but when I see her I feel compelled to pull her over and ask her if she would consider selling it.
  7. E, you're absolutely right on where that diagram came from. I removed it to avoid confusion. I took a look at my 73' FSM and the diagrams for 70-75 in the Clymers manual I have, and all of them concur with the info you posted. I couldn't read the wiring colors for the IS on the 76-78 diagrams. They were just too small even for my eagle eyes and I couldn't find a magnifying glass.
  8. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who neatly arranges all my new parts like that and takes a picture of them........
  9. Post deleted to avoid confusion....
  10. I'm learning Italian right now for my trip to Italy. I can only handle one language at a time. Maybe later.....
  11. I guess i was way off base. I thought he was talking about the windshield. I guess he would have said that if he was. :stupid:
  12. As stated, it's hard to really compare the two. The best car for you will depend on what you're requirements are. If you need room for pasengers, the 2002 or 510 will be a better choice. If you;re looking for a pure sports car, the 240Z is definintely the better choice. As for weight, I'm not sure what the 2002 weighed, but the early 240's(70/71) were only 2200 lbs. I think they started adding some wheight in 72 and more in 73. Perhaps 200-300 additional lbs. I'm sure than info can be found somewhere in here by doing a search. With that info, you can do a weight/lbs comparison to get an idea of the relative perfomance of each. As stated, if you start talking about mods, the whole picture changes.
  13. Personally I like the stying of the Z better, but it's all a matter of opinion. I had a 2002 once and it was a lot of fun. Handled great and pulled strong for a 4 banger. Don;t forget, the Z has an inline 6 that comes in 2.4, 2.6 or 2.8 litres stock. Ok, now that that's over, where's the ban hammer?:stupid:
  14. My ball joints have a bolt rather than grease(Zerk) fitting. To grease you jsut remove the bolt and install a grease fitting. You'll find the same thing on the steering rack as well. No need to worry.
  15. I hope you know I'm just messin' with ya.
  16. Perhaps we should all run out and learn to read Japanese......NOT! it must be lonely up there on that pedestal. jk
  17. Yes, it's torn apart. I have to devote my time to finishing with the suspension refresh and getting this thing back on the road so I can drive it. I'm going nutz! I bought it back in October, drove it 4 times, and then tore out the suspension for complete refinishing and replacement of the struts, spring and bushings. I had hoped to be done by Christmas but work, rain, and family commitments have caused significant delays. At this point my target date for finishing up is somewhere between May 1st-15th. Everything is stripped, treated and painted. Now I just need to put it all back together, lube it all up, and then start on the brake system rebuild(calipers, wheel cylinders, and master cly.) Oh yeah, and get all the fasteners, cataloged and sent off to the plater..........
  18. Hahahahahahah! ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL Been there, done that!
  19. =Enigma= replied to kayak113's topic in Introductions
Hey, welcome kayak113. Yes, lots of info and good people here. Except for 240ZX. You can see he's a bit obcessive/compulsive. jk I'm sure you'll find all you want to know here in the forums. If you can't, just ask.
  20. Both the Carter and the Holley mentioned are rotary vane pumps. No diaphrams here, but motors can be loud too.
  21. I believe you can use the rear calipers for a rear disk brake conversion, and I think I remember reading somewhere that some of them had R200 LSDs in them. Maybe even a 4.11 but I'm not sure about either.
  22. Nope. No problems here. Maybe it's time to empty your browser cache and run an anti spyware utility. Btw, the rest of these lunatics are confused, the URL is definitely http://www.zzxdatsun.com/.
  23. I've got the red edition covering 1970-78. I am quite happy with it so far, but I have no other comparison except for the factory service manual for the 73' and that's all inclusive but very "dry". Personaly, I prefer to use these sorts of manuals and only use the factory manual to fill in an gaps and resolve discrepencies. Not that the factory manual is perfect, but it comes straight from the factory so it should be more accurate......in theory.
  24. Well I can't seem to read it either. Try here and move left or right using the nav links: http://carfiche.com/fiche009/s30/index.pl?4:c:1 It looks liek there's one for manual trans cars for 9/71-8/72, and another for 9/72-7/73.
  25. Glad to hear you got it figured out. Did you have the tank lined? If so, so you think it's possible that some broke loose and was blocking the outlet?
