		Wondering if this was wrong

I have that issue and re-skimmed it. Pretty much the same as the website article. The car is a 240Z but swapped for the L28 then bored and stroked it to 3098cc. I guess it's just understood that the L24 was replaced by a L28 by stating it is one. Hope that helps.

		rear end gear ratio

Yes, the higher the number, say 4.11 instead of 3.54 will make for faster 1/4 mile and 0-60 times, but lower top end speed. Don't know if you plan to, but swapping to a manual trans will help out too.

Which Ignition System do you use?

I check his site again to make sure and he did say a 240's could'nt be used. (His name is Bryan Little not Brian, my bad) How did you do yours? Not having to swap out tachs suits me just fine.

Which Ignition System do you use?

I'll more than likely go with the zx setup first, then later on give Jacobs a try. Like you said, there are other areas that can use the $ first. I thought you have to use the tach from an electronic igition (or at least the guts). Think I read that on Brian Little's website.

Which Ignition System do you use?

Stock for now. Will go with a type of electronic in the future. Has anyone heard of JACOBS ignition? A mechanic who owns a toyota performance shop (I know, I know, but he seems to know his stuff:geek: ) swears by it.

		E-31 head.....

Well, I guess it depends on who you talk to if it's THE best, but what's good about it is if you put it on a 280 block the compression goes up. Down side is the valves are smaller than later heads, but they can be changed. Since yours is a '71 the head is more than likely stock.

How do you tell the Z's apart?

All 240s have the word DATSUN on the front fenders behind the wheels 260s & 280s have 260Z & 280Z. 240s & 260s have the front turn signals below the bumper at the corners, 280s are above in the grill. Series I 240s (mostly '70s, sometimes '69 & '71s) have 240Z on the roof pillars instead of the round Z emblem & two vents on the back hatch below the glass.

On the Datsun Z Garage site he talks about the E88 and N36 carb intakes, says heard of E46 but not seen one. My '70 Z has the E46, does anyone know what is different about it?:cross-eye
