  5. What are you looking for and how much are you willing to pay? There's a few out here (Japan) for sale. They will pass through Customs, DOT, EPA, NHTSA no problem if over 25 years old.

    So diplomatic. No one wants to hear what I think about it. I'll probably be banned from the site for good! But sadly, there are a lot of these "cars" in Japan. Not only Skylines, but others as well. This one was just so outrageous, I had to share it.

  8. I still hear the Japanese still refer to them by their nicknames: Hakosuka (C10), Kenmeri or Ken & Mary (C110), Japan (C210). I haven't heard anyone use the nickname Godzilla (R32) here yet.

  11. The plastic socket can sometimes be found in the auto parts electrical section. Granted, it won't be OEM, but sometimes, they're a good match.
  12. Back home in Hawaii, we had a local personality called Lucky Luck. He had what he called the 5 minutes or 5 miles warranty - and that was explained thusly: When you can no longer see my hand waving goodbye in your rear view mirror, the warranty is OVER. But seriously, put this behind and forget. We here (and I'm still new) need to stick together and pool our collective knowledge to keep these cars on the road for as long as possible. I am truly amazed at what you folks must do to keep your cars running Downunder. I live in Japan, and a lot of times I can't get parts! Geez! The darn things were made here. And the service, while polite and professional, is appalling. There are no cross-reference books. I was flat out told at the local parts house that they couldn't get an oil filter for my car because it was too old and wasn't listed in the parts book. Guess what . . . I have in my hands right now an oil filter, Nissan Part Number 15208-43G00, that has 23 applications for various Nissan vehicles with production dates from 02/97 to the present and it fits my car too.
  13. The center part of the seats don't match. The backs have the stock looking dotted pattern while the bottoms are smooth. I love that Dats-a-holic line!
  14. Looks like it's built on the current Z platform rather than the Skyline/G-35 platform. They still haven't let on whether it will be a Nissan or an Infinity when (or IF) they send it to the US. You can be sure, though, that it WILL be de-tuned. The Tokyo Motor Show starts on Friday the 21st and runs for 16 days. Going on RIGHT NOW is a classic car show in Hibiya Park which was the original site of the Tokyo Motor Show. The feature photo looks like a Honda 2-seat roadster, but in background was a C110 GTR. I wish I could go to that. Maybe I can make the Motor Show . . . .

    My Uncle was a body-fender man before becoming the shop manager. He always said that it really didn't matter who you went to, as most radiator shops were reputable and trustworthy. However, it was his opinion (or experience) that certain cores were better than others. He especially liked the Lakes brand core. While you're there, tell the radiator man that you want to polish the top, so don't paint the top tank and solder the brackets as neatly as he can. Nothing looks better than that polished brass radiator top tank.
  16. I just paid Y8,000 ($75.00 or so US) for that 5 speed shift knob. They're really hard to come by here in the Homeland. There were several color combinations - Red: GTR; Blue: GT and Gold: GTX. A bit of sandpaper, stain and oil or varnish should bring that knob up to snuff. Looks like a lot of usable parts on that car . . . .
  17. Those little LCD tv screens are alive an well here. Distracting? Probably. I see them all the time people sitting in traffic watching the news or some talk show. Others have navigation systems that make sure you don't get lost. I'm sude they have car-monitoring systems that probably tell you "come in for service" or something like that. The worst navigation system I ever had the displeasure of using had "ads" that directed you to businesses that paid to be on the navigation's CD. Imagine driving and the thing tells you "at the next right, there is the best seafood restaurant in the local area" or "I think you need gas and the gas station is two blocks from here on the right" IRRITATING!!!!!
  18. I'd have a look at the frame. Years ago, a friend of mine built a V-6 Toyota Celica for the drag strip. He twisted the body. They kept trying to stiffen the underbody and almost ended up with a full frame . . . and still twisted the body. Needless to say, they gave up.
  19. Lots of parts interchange. WHAT parts interchange is the challenge. I have found Z parts interchange on the motor. Some 510 parts interchange on the frame and others are Z parts. Just remember, car manufacturers are into profits; they don't like a lot of car-specific parts. If they can "borrow" from other models to cut costs, they will.
  20. I don't think these came in red - just silver and white. The price is within range if it's a genuine KPGC110 - this is the rarest of the GT-R line. The only way to tell for sure is to get a picture of the frame stamping that shows the serial number.
