The car is designed for NGK plug heat of 6. Since you are using NGK's in your tests, an NGK 5 is hotter and an NGK 7 is colder. Typically 5's will be cleaner because they will burn off more residue. What you experienced seems to be opposite where the colder 7 was cleaner. I think that some other factor may be at play. Maybe put a few 7's in with 6's to rule this out. If you don't have an O2 wideband then try measurements by reading plugs after 5min of idle then after 5min of cruising a 60mph (cut ignition carefully at speed then coast to a stop...don't lock the steering wheel).

Glad to help. You may wish to consider using a foam seal or sealant where the parking brake assembly's plate ( the lever part, not the cable junction) bolts to the tunnel. I did it to keep fumes and hot air out of the cab.

Looks mighty purdy! You are now on the other side of the curve... enjoy it, assembly goes by quickly. ps Don't forget the wee lil' spring that pulls the brake cable back. I never noticed it until looking at pics when reassembling.
  8. Congrats on getting that tensioner back in! I am impressed.

  12. Yeah electrical.... I hope to be down in Houston for a few weeks in May...maybe we can rebuild a zx distributor some evening
  13. The least expensive way would be to find a Z friend. Check out the local Z club in your area. There are probably members who will do it for low to fair price and do it correctly with care. For a cost/time estimate I would guess a shop would charge 4 hrs of labour to do the job.
  14. You can do it yourself. Just need a jack, spring clamps (~$25) a pipe wrench and some hand tools.

  19. Too much talking and not enough racing. Here is all you need:
  20. Search John Coffey and Chevette spring on Google. I recall him writing about them in a positive way.
  21. I read online (not absolute) that the K's came from Maxima I6 N47 heads.
  22. N47 or N42 head will work.
  23. That is a great body in this area... so sad. ~ $1,500 to have it transported here (N.S. Canada) sadly. Someone on the East coast of USA should grab it.
