  1. Did all 69-70 metal fan equipped Zs have a clutch from the factory? I was looking through a box of parts I got as a grab-bag on Ebay (just for the fan) and along with the pulleys is a spacer that matches the fan, but no clutch. The fan has no big hole in the middle where the clutch would go, just a flat area with 4 bolts labeled front and back where the fan bolts to the spacer. Is this a very early fan setup? Thank you in advance...
  2. I have an original 240z mirror - there is only a drivers' side - that I bumped into and dimpled seriously the 'dish' piece that the glass sits in (graceful @#&@!!). The glass is good - I found another original mirror with bad glass but all else is good. How does the glass come out? I have read a post on this, where he mentions a 'flag' and 'crimp' but I don't know what hls30.com means. It is a 2 year old thread, so I started a new one. Any help appreciated...

I just got out-bid on EBay on a set of "original 70-71 240z" floor mats. They are tweed, with the word DATSUN on the drivers' side mat. I have seen the rubber ones with 240Z and just DATSUN on them, but never these. Were these original early mats? Pics attached. Maybe 26th knows... thank you in advance
  4. I can check my parts car when I get home from work.. I'm local

If you have a choice between modifying the shift handle or making the hole bigger, I would modify the shift handle. For a Series I Z, my motto is: "Don't do anything to it you can't undo".

I just scored a set of white window cranks (yes they do exist). The auction for all those parts ended at the same time, so I had to pick an item to do my last minute bid thing. Missed out on a mirror because I couldn't do two last minute bids. Thats OK, I'm one step closer to my white interior now....

My 72 is originally white with red interior. I'm changing the interior to white - a little off-white actually. I want to go with a pearl slightly off-white, kind of like what is on the 200x Cadillacs, using the 240Z black decal stripe across the bottom. I think it would go better with the off-white interior. I have a 70 that I am holding on to that I will go the purist route with (originally red).

I just did a search in Parts and Accessories on EBay on '240z' like I do a few times a week. Normally I come up with 750-900 maybe hits tops. This time I came up with 1451! I have a few items in there, tail light trim and odds and ends - now it seems like there are six of everything I'm selling! A lot of the latest new ads are from 'datsunonthebeach' in Colorado. Anybody heard of them? Is it sombody going out of business or something?
  9. I have an extra e88 intake manifold that has two broken water jacket plugs. It came off of an old parts car - I was going to sell it on EBay but not in that condition. The plugs look like mini-freeze plugs and are on the underside directly beneath the carb (the front one in this case). Anybody know where I can get replacements? thank you in advance...

The air cleaner is from a later model - it has the summer/winter flap and heat riser. "all running gear" is not stock - 5 speeds were not available on the early guys. Aftermarket steering wheel and emblems are shaved too. Can't tell what the rust situation is from the pictures. Sub-500 cars are rare rare rare...

I had this car on my watch list - it was pulled due to "an error in the listing". Hmmm...

I don't know if its a scam, but its a nice looking car. I put it on my watch list just to see what it goes for.

Phoenix Arizona. I have found 2 nice minimal rust project Zs here.

Those braided radiator hoses go for big $ on Ebay. I saw a set go for well over $100 not too long ago - I don't remember the exact amount. The lower one is the more difficult one to get.
  15. Where can I find a complete set of rubber bushings? Just stock replacement ones, I'm not interested in urethane. I know MSA has them but they seem kind of pricey. any help appreciated...

Welcome! My wife is from Mindanao - Cagayan de Oro. She arrived here in the US last January. I have a 72 240 with an automatic that I am working on for her but she'll have to learn to drive first!

I used a piece of wood and a maul hammer - what a pain, but it worked.

I'm not a body guy either, but if it were me i'd have someone section another one on - mostly because I have a donor car. I wouldn't assume he thinks its valuable unless he says something. To lots of folks out there a Z car is a Z car. Good luck!

A sub-500 VIN should have a build date of 11/69. If it does, I'd jump on it if it is in any kind of restorable shape, if only just to have it for the future. Check the VIN on the firewall, inside of the drivers' door, the dash and the plate by the front shock tower (pass side). Compare the engine number on that plate to the number stamped on the block at the top pass side rear next to the head. If this all jives, you have found a very rare Z indeed. Good Luck!
  20. One thing I had to consider was if buying a 220V compressor, I would have had to get an electrician out to the house to wire it. I don't know about you guys, but I don't have 220 in my garage... though next time I have one come out to fix some other problems I'll have him wire my old oven so I can do powdercoating...
  21. I just got a 6hp 30gal Craftsman. I got a hold of a 120gal air tank from an industrial compressor that I want to use for sandblasting or anything else that will use a lot of air. I just need to get a few fittings for it. Anybody ever tried it? I got it for next to nothing so I thought I'd put it to use....
  22. There is a stock one on EBay right now, the item number is 230121069622. I bought one new from the dealer but it was very pricey. Good Luck
  23. I am looking for white interior parts for my 72 Z - the hard plastic pieces. Its like looking for an albino... I have the overhead and tail light panels but need everything else...
  24. I have bought from reddat and yes his shipping charges are too much. He charged me $8 to ship a set of front hub dust caps. I was sent an email less than a day later asking how I was going to pay - I felt like I had gotten a collection call. The parts I have gotten from him have all been as represented and shipped in a timely fashion. I would buy from him again but would first negotiate the shipping cost. I left positive feedback but was a little irritated.

WDILL - I have your car's close sibling in my garage, plucked from a field 2 years ago with weeds growing out of the engine compartment. 3486 is waiting for me to finish my 72. Good luck on your resto!
