  1. Hobout a Cima?:rambo: Or a cefiro? Both luxury/performance models and also carry on with the nissan lineage...
  2. Looks great, i wonder if you could somehow mould 2 13b's together...the space. Hey Lach, u put a wing on your thing?
  3. I agree with all of your points there gav, apart from one...See the the LJ XU1 GTR, according to Wheels August 96' issue, made 142kw in the new money, which translates to 190.4251367232001hp. I agree that the Japs definitely win when it comes to technology, and the L motor was more technically advanced than the Holden Reds, but the Red in the GTR was not a sleeper. Sure, the efficiency per litre is in favour of the L, but those XU1's were tuned within an inch of their life. Oh and what about the torque from 3.3 litres? Not sure if youve heard one before but its a very noisy 142kw . I think a z, though, when tuned to the same level as the xu1, would have it for breakfast, luch and dinner... :rambo: Tom p.s I think its one of the few holdens i have a soft spot for :classic:
  4. Cheers Jim, I bought a middle of the range digital camera a short while ago [Nikon CoolPix 3700] and it comes with a sound recording feature, that records directly into wav. format. Almost all digital audio formats will be compatible with a Winxp based computer if you have the right codecs for playback. Most newer mp3 players have a sound recording feature too, however the quality on mine [and old creative nomad II] is quite terrible... Your setup sounds fanastic [in both the visual and audible sense ], itd be great to get a compilation of all the various L/S series sounds. Perhaps people could start submitting sounds on this thread? Regards, Tom
  5. Cheers all The investments were definitely worth it, and its been known to set off car alarms from time to time :classic:
  6. Hey, Given youre installing this new muffler soon, i thought id give you a sample of the results i achieved on my c110. 6 into 2 into 1 headers with a full 2.5 inch mandrel bent system and a Magnaflow stainless muffler and an obviously lumpy cam...:classic: DSCN0001.zip

Yeah nice one! Pics!!!!! Oh and is that your last k in your old avatar? If so did you manage to go that far with a gtr replica? Cheers, Tom
  9. Thanks for the info, Jim. Now thats very interesting...When i changed the oil, i recall putting in roughly 3.5-4 litres, and i changed the filter too, which was enough to show the correct amount on the dipstick. However, as you have informed me it was perhaps not nearly enough. Since i first noticed the low dipstick, i have refilled the motor with fresh new oil, but it did not take nearly 5.7 litres to show a correct amount after driving...Which leads me to assume that the dipsticks have a fairly large saftey margin built into them? It is definitely the original dipstick, so thats not an issue, and yes 3-4 litres is a fair bit to be sitting in the bellhousing! I think it may be noticed It sounds like you may have found the soloution :classic:, but ill be analysing the car over the next few days to see if there is a recurrance...I use castrol GTX, which was reccomeded to me by some 1600 guys also running l-series. I understand there is also a Penzoil oil that is quite good. Thanks for your advice, Tom
  10. Thats outrageous...but cool in a ridiculous way! Hmmm....why not just use a real c10?
  11. Hmmm not sure, that could be possible and i wouldnt be able to see it? What would the symptoms of this be? Cheers, Tom
  12. While driving contently home from a hard days work, i happened to notice the oil pressure gauge on my c110 dipping and fluctuating uncharacteristically. Having only changed the oil three weeks prior, i had not checked the oil level since. Thus upon removing the dipsitck it was revealed the car had consumed 3-4 litres of new oil in roughly 3 weeks :tapemouth :tapemouth . Now what the hell could facilitate this if: The car is not blowing any detectable smoke at any rpm, and; The car does not have any detectable leaks. There is definitely residue around the sump, but that is due to a previously snapped sump plug washer. I had the car sitting on clean bitumen for nine hours and not a drop of oil was to be seen :stupid: . So is there any other location the oil could have moved to? The only large trip i made during that three week period was a 275km round trip to lancelin et al. Any help appreciated Tom
  13. Great site!!!! :rambo: :rambo: :rambo: Why cant there be a dedicated instituion like this in australia!?! While browsing the site, i managed to find a lesson in lowering the 240k - what not to do....
  14. 5 speed gearboxes are DEFINITELY hard to find! Ive been looknig for well over four months now in perth/wa and have come across one, which the guy decided he didnt want to sell anyways... :stupid: Does anyone know of the viability of using a z based 5 speeder [not a 280 as the ratios are too tall for the l24]?
  15. Great read indeed It seems out of all Nissan/Datsun/Prince models, its the cedric that sparks peoples' emotions so poignantly for love or hate...
  16. Heeeyyyyy yeah, i think i did My car was in a less than admirable condition at the time, as I had been up to Lancelin recently!! I cant exactly recall, but were you driving along side, or coming from the opposite direction to me?
  17. Aha, i was looknig for pics of that Daimler beast!
  18. Hmmm....well can you suggest a more entertaining and holistic driving simulator then?
  19. Check this out, While browsing screenies of the already-released Jap version of GT4, i have found definitive proof that a c110 derivative [it could only be the gtr] is available in the game!!! :D Cmon c110 guys, youd buy the game just to drive one of only 197 kpgc110's!!!!!! :rambo: :rambo: :rambo: Im pumped!!! Tom

Cheers for the responses :classic: , Perhaps however, i should have rephrased the criteria. Trs, Rick and TOG thank you for your suggestions :classic: - I too agree toyota tend to have bulletproof reliability, great resale and a fantastic availability of parts. However, as far as dynamics go theyre a tad on the bland side. Throughout my reading and own personal experience, they are a very 'safe' conservative car. I had the opportunity to drive a 2000 Camry CSX 2.2. It was extremely comfortable, quiet, reliable [over the four years we owned it] and we managed to sell it at a decent price. However, it was extremely uninspiring and lacked spirit. Sure the 2.2 four was a dated motor and it was an auto, but there was not a dash of dynamic chassis ability to make up for it. The suspension was definitely set to keep 'junior' happy on the long journeys - soft and compromising, with a great ability to soak up the crappiness of Oz roads, but no ability to round a corner in a sporting fashion when pushed - pure, safe understeer. I think a camry would be fine for my un-initiated friend, but i sincerely believe he will always be wanting something more. As for my experience with corollas it is limited to reading. As far as im aware they too tend to convey a similar 'safe' theme. Lachlan and Craig, thankyou too for your suggestions. Personally i agree that a silvia or a JDM r31 would be great bang for the buck - and come packed with a nice slice of handling in that large, grocery bag full of bang. The only problem is i think in his eyes theyd sting hard of cap-backwards-tool-with-ultra-amplified-blowoff-valve... I think as you said craig, an aussie r31 would be a solid bet...the commode would be a little too...well derro So, hopefully thats made it a little clearer :stupid: if there are any other suggestions :classic: Has anyone had any exp with an early oz spec liberty rs turbo? I think theyd fly under the 8k radar and be relatively inconspicuous. Anything else you could think of, even the obscure? Many thanks, Tom

Gday, A good friend of mine is in the market for a new automobile, and quite unsure at what he wants - im interested in pushing him in the right direction. There are, however, certain criteria to be followed in his decision. I know most here are obviously Z biased, but since ive placed this in the general discussion forum, i trust most will gather that hes not necessarily fixed on a Z. Im interested to know what you all think would be a good choice based on the facts that - hes after something with a capacity equal to or greater than 1.8L - to a maximum of $8000 [Australian] - not overtly sporting but dynamically superior to your average joe bloggs machine - up to 6cyl but no greater - power output greater than 84kw [112.6hp] - post 1990 Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Tom damn that was a big **** up...
  23. Sounds good, Craig. I would have turned up to that bloody cruise if someone had informed me of the DETAILS!!!! Jeezzz i was genuinely interested...oh well hopefully this wa z meet will suffice Thanks for the invite anyway - oh and were you one of the few that made it to the ozdat cruise - any good if so? Cheers, Tom ps. nice avatar Alfa!
  24. Gday all, Im from Perth too, as i think many are already aware, however, that was not the purpose of my post. Since no-one appears to want to reply to the 'WA datsun meet' thread, this one seems like a 'next best thing.' So, are WA Zedders and the like still interested in meeting up at some stage during this fine new year? Regardless of whether a car club holds the meet [ozdat for instance] or not, theres no reason why we couldnt organise a sunny sunday afternoon of some sort. Im definitely keen, but am i just calling out to no-one? Interested to hear from you all, regards, Tom
  25. They should all be around 30 mins - as i have all of them now - quite likely a timeout or something...Jeezuz some of the crashes are absoloutely INSANE :rambo: The dragster incidents at 400+kmh, turning into balls of flaming molten metal.....unbelievable
