  1. That's Z diesease it happens when u own a 240k . Sorry couldn't help myself
  2. I think we all agree nothing is ever gonna be trouble free and if your 280z is playing up it's most likely a jimmy rigging problem from a PO. My 240z has been on the money since I got it over a year ago and daily driving, except for the dizzy module the only electronic upgrade on the car mind you. My car has been well looked after that's why i bought it only a few repairs really annoy me, the centre console was repaired with a sheet of steel where it had cracked(not so bad but visible from the top). The rear left hand 1/4 was replaced with a earlier 70-71 series I 1/4 panel so no hole behind the badge . If that's all I really have to worry about then I guess I'm lucky, Oh what i'm most happy about is the lack of butchering done to the wiring loom yippie.
  3. could be the module on your distributor on the way out. Mine was playing games on my carbed 240z similar to what yours is doing it gradually stopped all together. Never really made it hard to start, the car always kicked into life easily until the module died.
  4. Now not that I've driven one but as other have pointed out to me you can't judge the machine until you drive it. I remember being told this when i claimed porsche's were nothing special only to feel i ate those words when I watched a porsche special on the history channel. I'm just much more passionate about the Z car. So of all those who dislike the 350z how many have driven one and put it thru it's paces? I think there a good car but I've never driven one .
  5. www.geocities.com/spized1969/ you can find a bit about the car their.
  6. I'm pretty confident they can handle well. The first problem is the rubber bushings in the suspension replace that with urethane. Adjust coil overs, control arms, sway bars etc all help the car but it's a very subjective question. It all depends on your horse power your braking system etc.. Are you going to race? what category are you thinking of? Porsches are good because they've been imporved for years especially the 911. The 959 the turbo 4 wheel drive (911 Shape) is a bit of a supercar for the Z, but I still believe you can get the Z to do what you want. I think all datsuns had great handling probably because of the IRS suspension.
  7. Nobody even mentioned the color scheme doesn't it reminisce the old 240z?

Damn would have been worth the trip to canberra not too far from Vic. I'll spew if it was non vented  .
  12. what a shame i hope they find it again.
  13. All 260z's came with flat tops, anything else was retro fitted later. 73 or the last 240z's had the round top's.
  14. If your intake manifold says N36 it's most likely L26 if it read E88 then your looking at more likely a L24. P30 came on both l24 and l26 blocks as already stated. What year is your Z also? If it's a 2+2 parts car I think it's gonna be l26.
  15. Well finally solved the problem it was the distributor module that was causing all the headache's. I had the rarest of all dizzies too the series 2 turbo 280zx electric dizzy(mitsubishi) so the module wasn't easy to find. I ended up forking out for another electronic dizzy with the E12 module(Hitachi) I think is the one. The car is going ok but I'm also bought another cylinder head with a larger duration camshaft. Around 76 degree's which is what I was thinking of doing. I was tempted to go with a turbo set up I saw for around $3k but decided I was best of not doing that just yet anyway. Thanks for the advice everyone and I'll let you know how my new camshaft profile turns out. Will have to get the dizzy recurved also . BTW: If anyone has a module to suit the mitsubishi dizzy let me know.
  16. You'd be better off using a single weber to suck thru the air into your turbo. Just a thought.
  17. Is the Zap one with the funky paint job? We never got a 280z here in Aus you see just curious .
  18. It's a 280z and not a 240z, I don't know the current value of a 280z maybe one of the others can help you. BTW a 280z can be identified by it's larger front bumpers. :tapemouth
