When I first heard that, I got an image of someone who had been drinking alone, and made this comment, laced with sarcasm, to someone who stopped by and started to chat? Maybe I saw it inna movie?! Jim.
  6. Crow Cams for Datsun I haven't used them personally , but the chart may give you an idea of the characteristics of yours? Cheers, Jim. :classic:
  7. No worries Rob! I have to do a series of photos for Shannons Insurance as a requirement for coverage, so I'll post them in my gallery and let you know when it's done :classic: Jim.
  8. I'm aiming for midday- mid afternoon... Jim.
  9. Amen to that Razor! The grille of my GTR copy had been partially modified to resemble a true GTR, but still had the GTX plastic inserts instead of the expanded metal mesh. I priced an original on YahooJP....$800-$1000 Sooo...I got an idea! A $25 sheet of black expanded mesh from AutoPro, a lot of template work and photo searching later ...not exact, I've let it go higher, and the mesh is a bit finer but it will do until I source the right stuff. A helluvalot cheaper too :bandit: Now if I can just get the correct red and white GT fender badges..... Jim.

  12. :stupid: is as :stupid: does!!...you know what's lookin' at me on the desk at the moment? a nice little digital camera that....guess what? It records sounds as well!! Thanks Tom. We'll have to do a bit of recording at Wakefield Gav I feel like "Toad" of "Toad Hall" ("Wind in the Willows ") Beep Beep Vroom Vroom  Jim.
  13. That sounds great Tom. Can you tell us the process of getting the sound from recording it to a format the PC's are happy with, be it .wav, .mp3 whatever?? I would love to share the sound of the C10. It appears to be a complete Fujitsubo system. BIG stainless extractors into a full length twin system. The pics I've included seem to be the correct bits? We could end up with a library of sound! All the various systems on this forum. From those still equipped with all the original Datsun/Nissan bits, Japanese air in the intake etc :cheeky:.... The spine tingling S20 howl, to the unique personalised setups like Sonofzzzap and your'n. Mmmm..Vroom Vroom  Jim.

G'day everyone Ever seen evidence of a KPGC10 or KGC10,(old Skyline two doors) in a Police Car? These kits are the closest I've come to anything in an old Skyline... Cheers, Jim.

Just remember, that figure is with a filter change as well. Always put some fresh oil in the new filter, and smear a few drops on the rubber gasket before spinning it on. Without a filter change, it's 5.0 litres. Jim.

I realise this might be a silly question, but when you did the oil change, did you put in 5.7litres? I have seen some guys just add the oil 'till it first shows correct level on the dipstick, without regard to how much oil they are actually putting in the engine, consequently the sump gets short changed! Then there's the other extreme. Ever seen an engine filled...I mean filled with oil? Right to the brim of the oil breather in the tappet cover I shouldn't laugh...at least he was having a bash at doing it himself. That is a lot of oil to simply go missing. How did you decide it was 3-4 litres? Is this what you had to add to bring the level of oil to the correct point on the dipstick? Speaking of dipsticks, I don't know about Nissan sixes but with various other vehicles the oil level markings vary with the sump (ie, same engine in different body shapes need a different sump so the correct oil level at the dipstick entry point varies, the height of the markings reflect this). Any chance the dipstick could be the wrong one? It does happen. Thats why I ensure I find the correct capacity from the owners handbook, manual etc. and add that amount, fire it up for a short while, stop, let it sit a few minutes and then check the dipstick. If it's the correct dipstick it's always spot on! If not...make a new mark! As Gav said, it may be sitting in the bellhousing, but if 3-4 litres is correct that's a sh*tload of oil to be sitting in there!! If the motor was simply pumping it out the exhaust, there would be plenty of evidence. After your trip the rear of the car would definitly have a dust covered oil film. What oil did you use? Any chance it was a cockup with labelling? Dunno Tom, but ya got me intrigued now.... Jim.

The Skyline is running on all six again thanks to Luke and Nathan at Grey Imports.(Peculiar fault , and the engine/head internals are still an unknown quantity) Same deal for me Gav, must sort out finances for the whole three days. If nothing else I wanna few laps in the regularity run. See you there!! Jim.

Thanks Carl, best laugh I've had in a while My older brother used to fly to New Guinea out of a Nth Queensland (Aust!) regional airport that nestled near a small mountain range that had claimed a learjet or two. He soon switched to coastal Cairns, even though it was less convenient . When I asked him why the change? his reply..." Hmmm..too much cumulogranitus in that sky!!" Jim.

Many years ago, so far back in fact I cannot honestly say where I heard this ...but here goes; The scene is Nissan Japan, early 1960's. The players are market researchers (or the equivalent) and a gathering of motoring journalists from Australia. Nissan was keen for some Australian market penetration and was canvassing the visiting journos with names that they hoped would be appealing to the Australian public at large. Now one must understand the perception of the name "Cedric" in Australia in the early '60's to appreciate what happens next. In some circles if a guy was a bit of a "Mummys boy" or overtly effeminate he might be referred to as "A bit of a Cedric".(try and say it with a lisp...you'll get the picture!) Gawd only knows how this name ended up on the list of names to run by the Journos but the story goes when it did, one of the journos, in a bit of a private Aussie joke , turned to one of his mates in the room and said (tongue in cheek!) " 'Ay , here's a good one...CEDRIC!! There's a few "Cedrics" in Australia isn't there mate ...hurhur hur!"...and thought no more of it, just a light moment in a day at the office. Well... the Japanese researchers, not being endowed with an Aussie sense of humour, or privvy to the alternative meaning, took this as a sign of a standout name that would be well accepted by the masses, after all, if they get excited enough to yell it out and draw attention to it .....well it must be a winner! The rest is marketing history! Like I said, this story was relayed to me as fact, but if it's not quite the truth...well it's still a good laugh :cheeky: Cheers chaps  Jim.

48 years old in April....funny isn't it ..still nothing relaxes me as much as tinkering with a favourite car, or satisfies me as much as pulling something mechanical apart, cleaning it, figuring out how it does what it does, and setting it up properly again. Been this way since I was a young kid. Seems to settle the mental dust that day to day living kicks up in the mind. Jim.
