  1. Simply put, if you gave the DB9 headlight buckets and a rectangular grill, it would look like a Z car. The DB9 shape oozes S30-ness IMO The 350Z is an amalgamation of all the Z cars, and I think Nissan took it in the right direction. Honestly, I think this "future-retro" design idea is just meant to appeal to aging baby boomers who want to see familiar shapes.
  2. Honestly, I think the Xenon low beams would be brighter than the OEM Z high beams. Damn that's pretty.
  3. Dude, blowin it... I hope it finds a good owner, it'd better with the reputation it's gotten around town. People keep saying, "Hey Joey, I swear I've seen your car around town, parked in front of Santa Cruz Auto Body.." And I have to say, "it's not my car. Mine isn't that nice, but I know the guy who owns it..." I'm sorry I won't be able to say that anymore... Good luck with whatever you have moved on to though....
  4. Fun movie, not too thrilling though. I found myself trying to figure out the plot, around which I assume the Z is the hingepin.
  5. I got to flip through a copy of this at the Laguna Seca historics, I still need a copy, hehe. Wow.
  6. I'm downloading it now. I love Wangan Midnight. I found out about it when the arcade game came to my local arcade. I cried when they took it out about a month later because of low revenue... I always got to play as the Devil Z because I knew the special code...

  8. You could try getting a paint that's meant for use on plastic, because it's meant to flex. I think Krylon has some sort of plastic-oriented paint that you could try. Maybe ask your local hardware store, I'm sure they have something.
  9. Thanks, the bigger hammer worked! Much easier than hitting it repeatedly with a ball peen. Now to reassemble...
  10. Well, a couple of my lug nuts were screwed, so I got a couple new ones, and the new ones stripped the threads on the studs. I've got the brake cover and shoes off, but I dunno how to get the studs out. Just bang on them? Enlighten me. What a crappy thing to happen on a holiday weekend...
  11. As far as I know the wiring for 75 and 76 were nearly identical. 77 couldn't have been too different either. I can vouch for the fact that it's absolutely NOT a nightmare. Not very difficult at all.
  12. Wow. See this is the stuff that is so much fun. Research, my friends, haha! What a cool find. I only wish I knew the history of my 280Z. I only know a little bit... Maybe I'll start a thread about that, hehe.
  13. It's an abomination. At least it doesn't have a huge wing...Wait, I see a whale tail.... I'd love to see a "Mull-style" buildup of that car, with extra emphasis put on the teardown. IMO, All Z cars have potential, that one just needs some extra love.
  14. Yeah, looks pretty interesting. Read that on another forum as well. Looks to be close to the 70's burnt orange found on many 240z's as well. I'm sure you could find it in other colors. There are two posibilities: First, this could be one hell of a find and could be a viable alternative to spray-gun painting a car OR Second, this could be something that wouldn't last very long and wouldn't provide much protection to the metal underneath. Looks like a sweet idea though. Touch up would be a breeze too!
  15. Looks like a perfect project 280Z. Needs some love, but not destroyed, hehe. Should be a great amount of fun!
  16. I thought about getting a new wheel too, but I really like the dish that the OEM wheel has. Better than some aftermarkt wheels you can buy. The wheelskin look should be pretty subtle if you thread it really tightly.
  17. That timeline was (sorry to say) more or less copied from an article on Zhome which has been online for YEARS. Go to Zhome.com and click on "History Time Line" and it says almost verbatim what is in the SZM says. At the top of the article in SZM it even says thanks to Zhome for the info. All I know is that I took that timeline with a grain of salt when I saw false horsepower numbers printed for my car. But here's another something to think about: The 75-76 Z's were pretty much identical except for the switch to a voltmeter from and ampmeter in the dash (please enlighten me if there's more). How does that explain a HP jump from 149 to 170? It doesn't. Someone screwed up their numbers, the HP jump to 170 should be in 1975, not 1977.
  18. Worst case senario: call a locksmith. He'll be able to look into the door locking mechanism and cut a new key based on what he sees inside (if he's good). But goodluck. Here's a tip, try looking where you WOULDN'T expect them to be...
  19. Hmm, always wondered why everyone says the 77 Z's have 170 when my 76 Z says 170 as well? In all honesty, I think all 280Z's came with 170HP stamped in the engine compartment. Can someone prove me otherwise? BTW, I'm partial to the 75-76. The bumpers are smooth and the bumper ends aren't huge = much better looking. Parts are easier to find for the 77-78's though. Oh, BTW, once you become familiar with the fuel injection layout, its REALLY easy to work on.
  20. Lucky. Went through vids 1-12, wow, I am humbled. I really had a lot of fun watching them, and I saved them all for future fun! Can't wait for the next batch of Z car motion picture excitement! Makes me want to go start my own project... BTW, great choice of music. I own some of the stuff you used as well, hehe. Keep us updated, looks like fun!
  21. I bypassed my control valve 3 years ago when it started leaking. Since then the copper tube broke off, but I guess I could fix that if needed. I still get heat and cold air, just not everywhere (heat on the windsheild, and at the feet, cool air through front vents). I also have less hoses underneath the dash, so I'm not worried, and there's less to go wrong. That just means the coolant runs throught the heater core all the time. Works for me.
  22. Dude, I'd pay you to help work on that project! It looks like so much fun. When you have a welder in hand and a load of sheetmetal, you feel like nothing can go wrong, haha! Looks like a lot of work though. I sure hope you've got the stamina to keep up the work till the end. Maybe some loud music and some energy drinks would do the trick too!
