  1. XL's here...
  2. The first and second pic are of the 280 we picked up from in Flemington NJ Z Chapter Strikes Again We, the founding chapter members, intend to use it for parts for our projects. Deal worked out well, especially split among three
  3. Geez.. maybe I should trailer mine there... drop off / pick up / next day service...
  4. What the??? Your either kidding or been real busy... with a shop like that, I'll have to take my parts to your place to blast and prep. Give a call, let me have the real skinny...
  5. I'm pulling my engine and trans from a 71 240Z and it sounds as if the 750lb stand will be sufficient. HarborFreight sells them for $39 with free shipping. I also have a one car garage and will need to move it around periodically so this seemed the best solution. I considered building a dolly, but after buying wheels, etc. the cost would be preety close. I'm planning to place the order today so if anyone has experiences or thoughts of the HF model, do tell. Kev/Tom, yes, you can borrow. Have you tried anything with the rotis yet? Also, I have a lead of a 75 280Z in (supposed clean, complete).
  6. I'm only about 1/2 done with my first wheel... and I can second starting with 80. I initially started with 320 and made little progress. Jumping to 80 got all the nasty stuff quickly and the 320 paper lasted longer and did a better job. I'm still finishing the slots (what a pain in the neck). I only manage to put in about an hour every so often so this can easily end up taking forever. I've considered a local wheel place that'll get them looking like chrome for $80/wheel... then again, thats $300+ total ... maybe its worth putting more time in...:classic:
  7. After several hours of encouraging the nuts off the j bolts using both liquid wrench type spray and an impact wrench, I've still made little progress. I fear I may have to cut the bolts (I may succeed at cutting the nuts, however. Can anyone supply a pair of bolts should I need them? Not sure if they changed after the tank redesign, but my project is 1971. Thanks
  8. From what I understand, and mind you, I haven't done the conversion, and I'm simplifying a bit... Check out www.jagsthatrun.com Basically, you'll pull your engine/tranny. Use their kit to install modified engine mounts, tranny mounts, etc. There isn't AFAIK any body fabrication, etc. Everything fits under the hood. I'm sure there are others on the board who have done the conversion, but if you're handy it seems like an easy one to do yourself.
  9. So, why not do the conversion yourself? Plenty have been done... plenty of sources for info on boards like hybridz.com... and plenty of V8s to install... Just need the conversion kit (easier than doing yourself, I'm told).
  10. Are you suggesting you've paid 125 for a set of four? If I even thought I could find that pricing to 'fix mine up' I'd be headed over tonight. Searches on the net seemed to indicate closer to 125 per wheel...for that, I'll give a shot first. Thoughts?
  11. V12 preety much nailed it, although it MUCH more work than it sounds. I'm working on my Shelby .500 Cal wheels (the five spoke ones) and have hardly made a dent in the first one. As to the plastic coat, all the research I had done indicated to use the 80grit to remove it. Once the shaivings are no longer 'white fluff', then your past the clear coat.
  12. Hanson is selling his 240 l/c/r valence piece in another thread. You might try his...
  13. Tom/Kev: Just got off the phone with the owner of the 76 280 in Flemington. We're on for tomorrow morning. Call me tonight on my cell to work out times. We should be there by 09:00 (its about 45min away). Let's pick it clean...:classic:
  14. Blitz: Got a better pictur of your wheels? What size, make, etc...

Was Miami Vice correct? I was thinking Magnum PI

Let's see... Wasn't it a monologue along the lines of '...then the problem is you...' Without quoting or going to the DVD, he lectures her about her being pissed that her brother gets away with everything and that she doesn't try... She comments 'I'd get caught'. He goes on: Him: 'Then you're problem is you' Her: 'Excuse me' and so on... Wasn't the gesture sort of 'tongue in cheek'...

Right movie, wrong character, wrong scene... Think TV sitcom where Charlie takes care of not quite eight...

Hmmm. I might just copy some of those pics and post it too eBay... I could probably get a few bids even if I include really small fineprint indicated it MUST be picked up ONLY with a special freezer truck.

OK.. which character said this and in which movie: 'My best friends brothers' girlfriend saw this guy who's going with this girl who saw XXXXX pass out at thirty-one flavors... say's it's kinda serious." And the bonus, who is XXXXX?
  20. This could be two in one day. Besides thi one in Burlington, there is another 280 (Kev and I have spoken of) ready for parting in Flemington (freebie or close to). Gotta pick a day... not next Sat. but perhaps a week after???
  21. Seerex: Would you be inclined to use your spare to make a template image that can be posted? If not, if anyone has a spare to sell or lend such that I can make a template, I'd do so and post. Seems a no-brainer solution.
  22. Hmmm an indoor bay... if I thought I could push/drag mine uphill both ways in the winter, I'd bring her along...
  23. Kev: Give a shout if you're doing any weekend work on her and I'll stop up. I see why you grabbed it and if I had the details before you, I'da done the same. Lar
  24. Damn... I liked that... it wouldn't have been nicer if there were more cars on the track... It's now got me thinking, eventually, is there a nice road track near NY/NJ where I could take my 240 (eventually when finished) for a quick romp... And then, of course, where to mount the camera...

Years ago in my old 280 I managed the following modification: 1. Extend the shaft a few inches and attach a 90 degree elbow. 2. Add about foot extension to reach to the glove box interior. 3. Attach smallish rotor wheel 4. Insert cheese 5. Add mouse Mice are exceptionally good time-keepers and will work diligently to keep the clock running. Their natural internal clock even adjust to their/your local time zone as they usually don't travel far from home. I recommend this method to everyone before going to the 'quartz' last resort.
