Dont mess with the colorado hwy patrol....
The Sentra SER Spec-V is the latest SER. I'm not really into the fwd cars but I just wondered if anyone out there knew how they performed and how they compared to the WRX. The early to mid 90's Sentra SER's seemed pretty quick. Maybe I'll take a look at www.sentra.net

Dont mess with the colorado hwy patrol....
How do these cars compare performance-wise to a Sentra SER-SpecV?

350z rims on a early z
The question had to do with 350Z 5 lug wheels. The hybrid Z write up does not mention splining the new holes. Seems kind of Mickey Mouse to me as do spacers. There are plenty of rims that will properly fit the four lug pattern and clear everything without spacers.

Wierd Engine combination in 280ZX
That engine sounds a bit like the L24E that was used in the USA in the 77-79 810 and the 80-84 Maxima. I have a 79 810 2dr. with that engine. It has the offset oil filter angling up and forward but no provision for a cooler. It has an N47 head and the 280z/zx type fuel injection. It's all stock and the engine has never been out of the car. It only has 80000 miles on it. Though it is some 400cc smaller than my 78 280Z engine, it's tough to notice any performance difference between the two. In fact I think the L24E in my 810 is a tad quicker through the gears than the L28 in my Z.

All right you lot, let's have you.
A picture taken in Sept. 2002 about 2 months before I retired from Ralphs Grocery Co. Would have made a good retirement present! (The Harley too!) And, yes Carl, DeeDee is cute!!

Remember, there are also magazines that credit Goertz with the design for the Z. (Or anything else for that matter!) FWIW

Next project
We never got those over here in the USA. I guess the closest thing we have would be the 79 810 coupe. (L24E, IRS, 5 speed, etc.) Kind of looks like a 610/710 (USA spec) with an extended front for the L6 engine. Z cars seem to be so plentiful. Nothing against them, mind you, as I love my 78 280Z. I just really enjoy seeing a nice Datsun that is not a Z, a 510, or a Roadster. I own a 79 810 coupe and a 64 L320 Pickup also.

indicator switch
The part number (25545-N3600) comes up as 'Switch t/s' in the Nismoparts.com database. It shows a price of $21.23 plus shipping. In my experience, this doesn't mean that it is still available through them. You would still have to call to check availability. Their parts database is useful also for inputing a known parts number to get a description of the part.

Z video
I checked the Optus and Foxtel websites and they seem to only offer 'History Channel' as opposed to 'History Channel International' which is where this program airs. Over here in the US you have to have digital cable or some type of dish/sattelite setup in order to get this channel. I'm not familiar with such setups in Oz.

Introduce yourself to the class?
I'm a 53 year old retired grocery clerk. I am married (2nd) with one child (23 year old son) and my wife has one child (29 year old daughter) both from previous relationships. She is 47. We have 4 grandchildren. We have been married some 6+ years and it is the best move I have ever made. I have been into Datsuns since the early 70's and have owned many including the 510 (3), a roadster (70 1600), 2 520's, a 620, my present 320, Z's (70, 72, and my present 78), 3 A10's (78,79,80), 1 84 Pulsar NX, 81 200SX, and my present 79 810 2dr. My vehicles are not restorations per se, but clean and complete drivers. I do not have a fortune invested in them as some seem to. The most modified of the three is the 320. That was mainly to make it freeway worthy. It has a J16 with a sidedraft weber, a header, 200sx 5spd, roadster differential, etc. The others are basically stock. The 810 is my daily driver but I get equal enjoyment from all three of them. I am a 'Datsun' fan. I don't care much for any of the ZX's or the 350Z. I'm not knocking those cars. They just aren't my personal prefference. The only 'Nissan' I ever personally owned was a 1993 NX 1600 although the 200sx had both Datsun and Nissan badges on it. I'm not much into the front wheel drive cars though I have owned a couple. (Pulsar NX, NX 1600) This site is the most informative and entertaining Datsun/Nissan site I have ever come across. I visit at least daily.

Z video
The next airing of the Nissan Z documentary will be Friday November, 28 @ 11pm EST on History Channel International. This is the only listing I was able to find as you can only search up to two weeks ahead on their site. I will post other listings as I find them.

Turn Signals....
Check the plug behind the console below the dash on the right side. It's a 10 wire connector. Make sure all of the wires are making good contact.

Deal Cyl. - '83 280zx
You might try pulling the valve cover an checking to see if one of the rockers has slipped of the valve. When I purchased my 78 in 1997 the PO thought it needed a valve job and it turned out to be that.

Z video
This program, apparently, airs on 'History Channel International' rather than the regular History Channel. I had searched months to find it. I recorded it today. History Channel International is only available on digital cable or dish tv. It's not on regular cable. As soon as I find out when its next airing is, I will reply again to this thread. It is pretty much like everyone says but it is still a worthwhile addition to any Z enthusiasts collection.

Elephant oil cap
I don't think they are "rare" as I have several of both types in my parts bin. I have two types with elephants on them as shown in the picture. The one that says only 'OIL' on it I believe was an aftermarket replacement. (not shown)
