  1. What are they? A little more description.
  2. Also could be that his mechanical fuel pump isn't providing enough pressure, (i.e. malfunctinoing), to overcome the vapor lock because, as Will said, it should clear up shortly after starting. Check your fuel pressure.
  3. Are you being facetious?
  4. I usually make my own.
  5. I like them as I sort of said in in post 6. Yours still reatain a somewhat original look as opposed to the polished look which makes them look aftermarket/Autozone-ish to me. In fact I like what you've done with your car. Really a stark contrast before and after.
  6. Kinda hard to overfilll a trans if you do it right as the oil will leak out of the fill hole when it reaches it. Reminds me of the guy a few months ago that filled his tranny through the shifter hole and the excess oil caused a fire.
  7. You basically just pull the front cover and remove and replace the seal. I usually do the gasket at the same time.
  8. I was just saying 'to each his own'.
  9. Well, they're yours. I was just stating my opinion but I think they should contrast and I don't care for wheels/hubcaps that are painted to match the car's paint.
  10. IIRC, the price wasn't too bad. If I had those, I'd find the correct emblems if they're still available and paint them the original color.
  11. Well, the price is right.
  12. I was more leaning toward rings when I read this the other day. You said 'no smoke at cold start, no smoke at idling when at normal temperature, and burst of blue smoke at pick-up after deceleration as at a stop sign'. That leads me more torward rings than vavle guides. I was waitning to see the compression test results but, no matter. Rings or valve seals, you still need to do them both as Nissanman said.
  13. Does it still have the underdash components?
  14. Those are 72-76 240/260/280Z OEM hubcaps with the original paint sanded/buffed off and without the original center emblems. Thought I saw those on eBay recently.
  15. I'm wondering if that is an aftermarket fan because I've never seen any mention of a factory option electric fan for a S130.
  16. Does or did your 260Z have factory air? I only ask because fitting the ZX underdash components into an S30 might proove to be difficult if not impossible. I have looked at most of the S30, S130, and 810/RWD Maxima systems, both factory and aftermarket and there are several differences in the size of the components, where and how they mount etc. If your 260Z already has the underdash components, i.e. evaporator, etc. then you can use the 280ZX underhood components , i.e. compressor, receiver/drier, and maybe the condenser, depending on it's size, but you'd have to have custom hoses/lines made up. In that case, all you'd have to do as far as wiring goes is plug in the compressor and make sure the pressure switch is wired as per the 260 factory air wiring.
  17. Are you talking about a ZX injector cooling fan or an engine cooling fan?
  18. For a 77 I believe blue would be original. 3 numbers, 3 letters somewhat earlier than 'VKP' because those were the three letters on the original Cali plates for my 5/78.
  19. The clock in my 78 has always worked.
  20. I'll just repeat what I 'typoed' last year when I thought this thread was done as to why flat tops are bad.
  21. I run 87 in both the Z and the 810 with no problems but they're both EFI dish piston cars. Believe or not, I have to run premium in the old 320. Head work, fixed breaker plate, centrifugal advance only, Weber carb etc.
  22. Could be your BCDD or if it's a California car, and I seem to recall you saying that it was, it could be you altitude switch. What to do about it is covered in the FSM.
  23. Sorry James, but you can't make a comment like that without stepping on someone's toes. You'd be best to keep that to yourself. I've lost friends and a family member to the war and regardless of how you or I or anyone else feels about the war, that sucks.
  24. And I've gotten myself into the doghouse for 'over reacting' to his posts so he's on my ignore list.
  25. Welcome. Sounds like you got a pretty good deal. The four small holes on the hatch were probably from the mounts for a louver. If you do get another one, try to find the type that requires no drilling. That 3M tape should hold your hood vent just fine though you can sometimes find replacement hood vents for sale on eBay and such. I may even have a good spare somewhere amongst my stuff. Running rich could be a number of things. Leaky cold start valve or injector(s), bad water temp switch, etc. or just bad connections. I would suggest you clean all EFI related electrical connections. That's a must on these cars. Your paint sounds like #611 Sparkling Burgundy Metallic from your description.
