My Good Find Pic 3
Chris, this is the exception rather than the rule. I wasn't looking for my Z when I found it. I actually got into a bidding war with a kid that wanted to buy it. The PO only waned $200 originally. He didn't know what he had and just wanted it out of his yard.

My three Datsuns
Those 'stickers' were available from The Datsun Competition Department in the 70s. They are getting really scarce. And the house, we're looking to move this summer. It's too small, the driveway is sloped, and it's too close to the nieghbors!

Fuel Injector Lines
Cool! Another late 1st gen. Let me know what other problems you discover. I've probably dealt with all of them in the 7 years I've owned my 78!

compressed the rear bumper mounts....
wolf66, does your hood close? I borrowed the same bar from the kid down the street and drilled the other hole with my drill press. It mounted up okay on my 78 but the hood wouldn't close so I gave it back.

Fuel Injector Lines
You'd have to be more specific. What kind/year of Datsun? Hoses between the fuel rail and the injectors? The fuel rail itself? Hoses from the fuel pump? Other hoses? Which 'injetcor lines'? They are all replacable it's just that some are easier than others.

Is this one real?
Lots of supposition, unsubstantiated facts, typos, missing parts under the hood, wrong upper radiator hose (stretched), junk in the interior, etc. I'd ask a lot of questions. Still, at this point it's under $900. With almost 6 days to go I'm curious to see what it sells for.
- Need help remembering.

You get what you pay for. Remember, those bars that Megan Racing or whatever ebay name they use are for a Honda Civic, they're cheap and they are basically for looks.

Rims and tires
These are the 260-280 alloys I polished with the Yokohama A-509s I bought from Mike (MistressMotorsp)

Craig, I pretty sure that would be MSA. As I recall they offered a chrome valve cover and a carbon fiber cover that fits over the valve cover. http://www.zcarparts.com.

T-Tops in our S30's
You might not weaken the structure by 'installing' a V8 but unless you do some reinforcement you will weaken the structure by driving that V8Z!

Car Won't Start!!
It sounds like you guys are talking about the b/y wire that connects to the press-on terminal on the solenoid. All that wire does is link the ignition switch with the starter. Without it the car won't start but it's not a fusible link just a wire. At least that's how it is on my 78Z and 79 810. It comes directly out of the wiring harness and neither car has been altered.

70 Slots w/new tires
Do it! (But don't lose the stock wheels & hubcaps!)

T-Tops in our S30's
A V8Z is really not a good idea either, for the same reason-- Unibody construction. To do either 'properly' you need to do some structural reinforcing. That gets back to that 're-engineering' of the car. I have torches and welders, etc. but I am not an automotive engineer. In my opinion, T-Tops and V8s are for cars that originally had them.

April Fool?
Thanks, Alan. I come here to learn and once again, I have! I had always associated RHD with the rally cars. Interesting that in the letter to Keith, they say "We had some questions ourselves but when we directly asked the director of Nissan Italia, he insisted that this was the car." In the letter to me they say " . . but we didn't have serious doubts until the article had gone to press . . "

April Fool?
Here is the reply they sent me. It has been saved to my computer, scanned, and it is clean. re_ datsun s30 rally car.txt

April Fool?
I, too have emailed Mr. Annis and am awaiting his response.

Sunroof
Sunroofs on series one Zs aren't really my cup of tea but since there is already one present on your car, your modification is much more preferable to what is already there. It could actually be pretty nice if done right.

71' 240z, 350v8, cage, immaculate condition, tx, MUST GO
I don't think you should be concerned. It looks like his only reason for being here it to sell the car. :disappoin

72 240Z Roadster
I like it. The front end treatment is different and comes off well. Does it have a trunk lid or is the back end just closed in?

On the trailer #1
I've seen that stuff before years ago when I was a kid in Portland, Oregon. My wife says the call it 'snow'!
