In case anyone is wondering about a new one... https://zcardepot.com/products/engine-splash-pan-guard-240z Or the newer style... https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Datsun-280Z-1975-78-Engine-Splash-Shield-Pan-Panel-Stainless-New-250/323531219088
  2. I wish I was in a position to purchase. There is never anything like that near me in Canada and the exchange rate is murder right now. Plus I’m only half finished a major project . Oh well, someone is going to get a gem. Hope it sells soon to a collector.
  3. Powder coating something is a very satisfying feeling. Watching it turn into a nice glossy finish is a beautiful thing.
  4. , enjoy the read. I am happy to leave behind a trail of experiences for people to follow, just be sure to read ahead and get the full story. Some of my experiments failed and some were modified later on. All of my progress has come from the input of others on this forum.
  5. Some of the shop scrap metal did have some flash though. Nothing too bad.
  6. None. I have a heated garage/shop and I keep bags of dessicant in the shell.
  7. Nothing more than oil and grease remover before spraying the 2K primer. I left the car with some dessicant bags to keep moisture away.
  8. I buy a lot of pads from Adams polishes and products. Their swirl and haze remover is amazing.
  9. You are doing it right. Sand, polish, check. Repeat. You can always sand a little more, never a little less....
  10. Interesting. Not in my future but looks solid.
  11. Pics of the old pan by chance? Approximate price versus other models on the market?
  12. So the old original passenger fender yielded no surprises. Good condition under the paint and bondo and should be an easy prep and prime later on!
  13. .... as I stalk the streets of Bowral with the Google street camera car image bank looking for signs of a blue 240, yellow bug and tangerine Porsche...! ?
  14. A Z is no place to raise a kitten....
  15. For someone with deep pockets, sure! Maintenance is the issue. Parts are restricted and hard to access. For the price, that’s a good deal. Keep in mind a new track is about $25,000.... they last about a year on asphalt. Edit: about 2000km on asphalt... even we don’t drive them that much. We use the M113a variant still along with the TLAV.
  16. Where did you get the fabric Jeff?
  17. Why trade when you can have true NOS carbs AND quarter panels! Think of the provenance! If it's going to be worth $70,000 plus in the end, these are a must have addition! ...heavy doses of sarcasm and good natured ribbing of @Patcon
  18. NOS don’t necessarily make the car “better”, but maybe more original. $1500 would be my breaking point on a quarter panel even on a “special” car...
  19. Try using the EZ strip grinder wheels. They are plastic, don’t build heat and do a great job.
  20. Never a deal like this near me in Canada... I would buy it if it was local.
  21. Good deal on an awesome car.
  22. I would expect NOS quarters to sell for $1200 - $1500 each. Reproduction panels for $400-$1000 depending on model and condition. A used rear clip from a good donor, $600.... ...just my two cents from what I have learned over the last few years.
