1. Princess Auto sells it as Ebony Grit. It’s the left over crystalline material in the copper smelting process. Sharp edged material that cuts through most material coatings easily. https://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/ebonygrit-copper-slag-blasting-abrasive/A-p8200594e
2. Looks good! I tend to use copper slag for rough part blasting and crushed glass for fine work. The glass breaks down quickly and gives a polished finish. The copper slag leaves a textured finish that hold powder coat really well. Even the copper slag breaks down significantly and has to be replaced every so often. I have never used sand...
3. I would say over 15% of my project cost so far has been shipping and duty charges. So let's say $4500 so far.... The plan is to have the car on the road this summer. Whether that is 100% complete is yet to be determined.
4. yeaaaah.... international shipping two directions plus custom leather.... Plus the original shipping cost to get the parts here (door cards from USA)... That's gonna put this out of reach unless you already had the patterns there from your car (same year as mine). If I was closer this would make more sense.
5. On it's way to me now! (school girl squeal)*
6. If you watch the video series by homebuiltbyJeff in Aussie land, I believe he used a 2x4 in the door frame to "massage" his doors into position.
7. Sad but true. I loved working with my American brothers in panjwaii. They had better rations...
8. The best desert boots I ever bought were Converse. They don’t make them anymore. Now I wear Rockys.
9. See the world they said... I saw a lot of sand...!
10. I also picked up some rubber bits from the dealer.
11. Thanks for the goodies today too Jim!
12. That’s what he does now. It takes a few different screens to do each one apparently so it takes way too long to be efficient. Basically he would need a full time person to enter the data. Which Nissan doesn’t care to do. And it is sensitive pricing info so they won’t let just anyone do it for them.
13. @zKars Jim probably has a few hundred or so...
14. That’s ok. I’m happy to receive an awesome Hung approved dash!
15. I’m hanging....
16. Dunno. Not complaining!
17. It seems Canada has a larger selection of NOS parts than the US in a lot of cases. Don’t know why.
18. Carpartsmanual.com has everything
19. Yeah, it’s close enough to be scary. Luckily it is also next door to Jim zKars and what ever the depot doesn’t have, Jim does.... I think they subcontract to him occasionally....
20. Still available at Alberta Nissan dealers. About $350 Cdn
21. Order them from Nissan. They still have restamps of good quality. Mine was almost perfect.
