Paint protection film
Years ago i had some brakefluid on my hood! As it was looked after and had a good layer of wax.. id didn't ruin it at all!! So a good wax is enough? It must have bin a few days on there. but it didn't ruin the paint! (It was DOT4 brakefluid!) Overhere we put a thin layer of stonechip, a sort of rubbery stuff under the colorpaint and clearlaquer. AS i'm looking for a 370z.. i seen one which was changed in color by a wrap.. What is your opinion (everybody who reads this) about wrapping a car? Does it Chip? I don't think so.. SO.. Maybe paint the whole car and wrap the front against stonechipping? Good idea???

Then i have some news for you (guys..) My 280zx is a original The Netherlands delivered (EURO) Car.. and it has a original to it R200 with cooling fins on the back! I'm not sure about my other 2 280zx's i had but they had the same 200's under them as far i know.. (I could look at old pic's but i'm not bothered..)

Rear Strut housing replacement or not
?? I see the difference bij looking at the rearside.. (Very easy to see by looking under the car from behind!) When you see cooling ribs it is a R200 the one without is a R180. (Please correct me if i'm wrong..)

280zx 1979 2+2 slick roof restauration
After 18 (!) summer seasons from 2007 til 2024 I got my eyes on a beautiful black 370z but first i have to sell this beauty.. Nope.. still not worked on my 280zx.. i hope to install my heaterpump airco thingy this or next month.. it would help a lot in the heatingcosts as it's now electric heaters in the garage.. My 300zxtt has almost 90000 registered km and is in top condition .. No hurry.. (as always 😁) EVERY winter it was suspended and stored in a heated garage, so perfect body. Every winter suspension in a long listing at www.rdw.nl from his fifth year as it was a dealercar and stood in the showroom for the first 5 years.. it's price was then a shocking (Hfl) 173.300 guilders in 1992.. pfff... Just a nice picture to see the dimensions of the carport..

Strap Tension - Rebuilding Seats
I've restored some seats long time ago.. orig. early 71 seats.. I would NOT do them as tight you can.. Just pull every strap the same amount (about 30 pounds?) and after you done one lower seat part test it with sitting on it.. start maybe with 20 pounds you can always put them tighter on not lesser! Put the lower part of the seat in a vice or something that it can't move.. You need to experiment on how tight you need to do the straps.. Don't do them very tight as there are about 8-10? straps and together they are strong and can keep the weight up!

L26 Rebuild Original E88 or P79
Hahaha, Zed.. Funny!! I ones bought a 240z with a 260z engine in it.. but the real fun on it sat a E30 head of a 2 liter 6 cyl. (i guess Laurel engine?) This can be done if the pistons are not flat tops.. as that gives to much compression (don't ask how i know haha) Has anyone done this before? The car ran but it was in bad shape and i never ran the engine really good so i know it ran but not how much power it had.. This L26 and (restored) head is still in my stash haha..

L26 Rebuild Original E88 or P79
I know from a official service-anouncement that the L24 from 1973- had pistons that came above deck about a few tenth's of a mm (about 0,2-3 mm i believe) I'm not 99% sure.. i'm 100% sure the piston comes above deck!

Restoration of BringaTrailer 240z - HLS30-35883
Yeah, don't worry, there will be a next Z-con! My 280zx resto started in 2014! And it's still not done! Be glad you CAN work on your eye-apple.. It doesn't really matter how long the journey takes to the finish as long you enjoy the ride! Let go of the z-con date.. It's disturbing to much! I'm sure you will have a EXCELLENT car in the end! DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY !!

Z's on BAT and other places collection
I think the outside lacquer is much newer than the inside lacquer, don't forget next year that paintjob would be 50! years old.. If you zoom in on the split just under the window sticker saying: 3-23 you see some small spot with the old paint that has faded

280zx dizzy, too much timing advance. How to make it not hurt my engine?
Hi, Maybe take a look into a service manual of the 280zx, i know there are special books about the engine and ignition and also a special about the whole injection and ignition maintenance/dial inn..

Z's on BAT and other places collection
@Zed Head hihi.. funny detail .. some hose clamps on the mirrors.. to keep them adjusted.. There is a screw on the inside of the foot of those mirrors to correct the stifness of the mirror.. (My 280zx has the same simple mirrors i believe.)

Parts Wanted: WTB: Windshield stainless steel trim
Maybe send it inside a plastic (electric) pipe? (Lightweight!) If it does not fit heat the pipe so you can make it fit! 3/4 or 1"will fit.

Restoration of BringaTrailer 240z - HLS30-35883
Do this.. as the stainless is very thin.. no one will notice that tiny pixel.. on the trim. GOOD job! 👍

Video recommendation: "My Mechanics" restores a 240Z
I think @Mike This topic should be placed in the "Resources" under Knowledge base. Titled "one of or the best restoration of a Datsun 240z" What do you guys think? Every aspect of restoring a car is in the vid's! It's a perfect guide for someone that wants to restore a car perfectly.

Still struggling with car at idle after 8 years
I don't know .. but it sure makes ME Twitchy!! 😁 (Yeah i know it's only me that does not like pertronix under the hood! The only place for it is in the BIN!)
-
Still struggling with car at idle after 8 years
Simple said.... you lieve the screw on the outer cable alone! The screw on the INNER steel wire THAT's the screw that adjusts the choke..
-
Still struggling with car at idle after 8 years
Oh boy... If you unscrew the cables there will be NO movement.. you have to make sure that the chokes bottom out (NO shoke) then put the choke knob in the almost close position (Like 3-4 mm off the closed position..) them screw the cables tight and if you then pull the choke they will come ON.. (enough) (You must be a theoretical physicist hihi... 🙊)
-
Still struggling with car at idle after 8 years
I'm sorry but i don't know what you mean here.. That's normal! If i pull my choke all the way on my 240z it's at 2500 rpm easely.. just don't! 🙂 The choke is there to get it started when cold (weather) After start push the choke back to about 1200/1500 rpm depending on the cold.. (Not very cold overthere i guess Panama?) As i said, a little slack should be in both cables but there should be some reaction f you pull the lever halfway or even on half an inch..
-
Still struggling with car at idle after 8 years
Wow... that's too much slack.. let's say a few mm. or as the americans say: 1/4 inch on the lever.. You can wiggle the lever in the beginning without reaction near the carbs.. then it's okay, when you pull the lever half an inch then you must see a reaction.
