Ginze Nissan 50 Year Anniv. Exhibit
Hello everyone. I was at the local Borders Books today, and I was thumbing through the "Classic Cars" magazine and there was a little clip about the exhibit. It is for the 50 years of Nissan design and there is supposedly some great Nissan's on display at Nissan headquarters in Ginza, Japan. The article stated that some Skyline GT-R's, 240z's, roadsters, and some early prototypes (I forgot the one that it specified, but it was not an S30 prototype.) would be on display. I know nothing more, but I am very curious to see photos of the cars, or any info about it. Keep yours eyes pealed on the web. Ben p.s. I found this link: http://www.nissanhelp.com/News/Nissan%20Celebrates.htm

Interesting header on ebay
I saw these on ebay as well. I would be curious exactly why they would not fit on a LHD. Is this the same header that would come with the twin pipe 432 style exhaust? I think they are cool, but they look like they need more work than they are worth, IMHO. However, Trust is a really good company from what I have heard. They are also known as Greddy. I am not sure if they still use the "TRUST" name. Does anyone know? Ben

Used Type A 14 by 7j Watanabe wheels
Some of those prices aren't too bad and some seem outragous. Thanks for the link. Here is a link to the Work equip website. They make 3 really nice looking old school type wheels. http://www.worksuperwheels.com/wheels/equip_01.html http://www.worksuperwheels.com/wheels/equip_03.html http://www.worksuperwheels.com/wheels/equip_02.html I would personally go with 14" or 15" wheels, but I like a lot of rubber. Take care, Ben

Used Type A 14 by 7j Watanabe wheels
Those RS-8's are nice looking wheels. They are a nice combination old school cool with a modern twist. I really like the silver ones. The SSR mesh wheels are really nice? Are the wheels still being produced? Here is a pic of a car with some really nice SSR mesh wheels. I believe they are the SSR reverse mesh, but I am not sure. What size and offset are you looking for? I hope you find a set. They really are nice looking wheels. Ben http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=3676&sort=2&cat=500&page=12

I have seen sets cheaper, but it seems that the more desireable the size and offset, the more they cost. You are right though, the price is not great. If there was no curb rash, then it would not be bad. There was a set of 14 by 6.5 type B's that were selling for 600 that were in great shape, but I am not sure if they sold.

The two S20 warriors
I really don't know much about the factory works race cars, but I would really like to learn more. I have saved a lot of pictures though. The pictures on the Watanabe site are some of the best ones that I have come across in regards to these cars. Alan, I was under the impression that there was about 19 Z432-R's produced. Is this roughly correct? If so, was the number so low because it was a homologation car? The reason I ask is because I thought that the factory made their own race cars which had bodies similiar to the 432-R like the works rally cars, but the private teams could buy a 432 (normal or R-type) with all the Nismo options, and that is why the 432-R came from the factory with the 4.5j steel wheels. I would have thought that a lot more would have been produced. Are many of them gone now because they were used as racers? Any help on this would be most appreciated. It has been something that I have been wondering about for a while. Thank you in advance. Chris, was the red 432 with the works rally wheels in the picture that you posted a "Works" race car? I would think that it would have had wider wheels than the 7j ones. It really is a beautiful car. Thank you everyone for your interest in this topic. These cars are such legends in Japan I am sure, both works Skyline and Z. I have looked in old American magazines and there was coverage of these races at Suzuki and such, but I have not read enough to say if there was a lot of coverage. -Ben p.s. Thank you for the info on the 2000GT Alan. I was reading through the "Classic Car" magazine the other day and there was a great article on the Shelby 2000gt's race cars. One of them was found in the 70's and at the time when it was discovered it was being used as a daily driver!!!

Here is a nice set of Watanabe's that need a little bit of restoring. I have seen better prices, but 700USD would not be outragous for these wheels if the seller is being honest about the others not having bad scratches. I would request more pictures. This is a great offset for a S30, as it is the recommended size for the front of a non-flared S30. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7930635878&category=43954&sspagename=WDVW -Ben

Period correct Bluebird Coupe
It is a beauty. I love the Watanabe's. What were some of the other period goodies? Is it a 73', or just a 73' grill?

Those are some great pictures Alan. If anyone wants to see an assortment of excellent pictures of the works racers, go to the RS-Watanabe site. http://www.rs-watanabe.co.jp/index2.htm Ben

Rubber Floor Mat
I have also seen a couple different floormats like this. Does anyone know if these are factory or dealer option mats? I would be interested in finding a set of any of these floor mats as well. I think DatsunZguy bought a set like the ones you posted taikaki. Ben p.s. Here is a set that is in a car on ebay right now.

The two S20 warriors
Wow, this is great stuff guys. I am just along for the ride. Here are my questions, Did the LY engine come out in 72? If so, were cars fitted with them called 240ZR's? What is a 240ZR? Thanks a lot for everyone participating. This is very interesting because this is the first time I have really heard about the home market circuit racers. One last thing, how big of a competitor was the Toyota 2000gt at the time? Thanks again, Ben

Yes, I was talking about the blue C10 on the freeway. I apologize for the mix up.

Hakosuka on E-Bay
Hi everyone. Eric, i was not sure at first, but a friend of mine confirmed that the GC10 in the picture you posted was the one that was at the Z nationals this past summer. It is the same C10 in my gallery. At the time it was two white and blue, but now it looks like he cleaned it up real well. The thing I am wondering though is, where are the beautiful fender mirrors? Is it just the angle, or are they not there?

z432
You are very right Lachlan, it could very well not be a 432R. I thought there was no rubber trim on the bumpers on the R and the hood is too shiney. Either way it is a great looking Z.

Watanabe Millennium Falcon
Hey Chris, I knew you had the wheels. I was just commenting on them again. Ben p.s. Great choice chris. 400 was a great deal.

Watanabe Millennium Falcon
Those are really nice Chris. Do you have the old aluminum center caps? I would like to find a set of those, but I am going to get the wheels on the car first. I wanted my car to look mostly stock, but I fell in love with the dish of my wheels. I do agree that Watanabe's look more period with the spokes inside the rim. By the way, paint your wheels all gunmetal. Lachlan's look crazy beautiful, but all gunmetal and they will look like Z432 wheels. Teehee. I know you are into those. No matter how you paint them they are going to look suberb- natural looks really nice as well. One last question Chris, do your wheel lips have little ridges as if they were machined? Lachlan, I too am glad that Watanabe wheels are getting more popular. They seem to be really popular with the 510 and AE86 crowd here in the US. Ben p.s. The slots on Her Majesty's 26th look like they are 7j wide. Am I mistaken?
