  1. Great! Good luck with it. It looks to be in great shape from the pictures. TK
  2. My mistake! Sorry. I ment to say "so many speakers in the cargo area that the rear view mirror is practically useless". But give me credit that I was nice and did not even mention the sunroof thingy. But seriously, Nice car! How long have you had it?
  3. I think it's also silly to line the passenger area in a Z with speakers, but looks like you've done that already.... It's your car. pimp it out as you wish
  4. Opinion? I do not like them. I almost buy them every few years or so but I catch myself with the simple question of "why". If you like them, buy 'em.
  5. and premium fuel, all the time...
  6. Well, I always assume that there is a reason WHY things are the way that they are. Since turbo's are plentiful and superchargers are not, there must be either a cost or mantenance or drivability reason why they are not around. They seem to be a better solution, but very few street cars use them. I guess that if you wanna drag race a 1/4 mile, that's where those devices seem to be the prefered method. If you want to street it, Stroker or turbo seem to have the nod.

  10. Well, I would have to say that a Turbo will make more HP than an N/A stroker with all else being even. My guess is that there is a limit to compression(you soon become a diesel) but less limit on boost(0-30psi). Getting a lot of air and fuel through the engine in a given time will make the HP. Now, if you add NO2, you can add even more fuel and get even more power <G> but that was not your question. Best of luck.
  11. Get used to the looks, guys. The days of non-wind tunnel design(1st Gen Z's) are over. Heck, the view from the INSIDE of the Z is what counts. 140MPH? My 1st gen Z got scarry at 90mph due to lift at the nose. Yea, you can add aftermarket spoilers, but then you start to loose the "look" that you had in the first place. Sounds like a stellar car! That's great news for us with classic Z's. If it was a flop, less folks would care about Nissan/Datsuns Z's and their lineage. Maybe the older Z's will finally start to appreciate?
  12. I guess it depends on what you want to do. Power? Reliability? Efficientcy? Streetability? Low cost? Best L6 with all those features would probably be a turbo engine from an 83ZX. So carbs are NOT the way to go if you want all of the above features. Only reason I can see for carbs would be for simplicity. A simple carb would be to go with the Holley 390 4 barrel downdraft. Good American carb that's simple and has good support (and the Datsun runs great on it). Just a thought.
  13. My guess would be pre-ignition when you get up to 10:1 or above. My lowly 8.3:1 L28E recommends 91 RON. Upping the compression to 10:1 should require at least 93 pump octane(premium) to run whithout problems. That's what all the street strokers around here have to run..
  14. If you are worried about cost, realize that you will be stuck with "Premium Only" gas if you go to 10:1 or more. A fun site on what to do is located at: http://www.geocities.com/zgarage2001/z.html Look under Performance Tips and it walks through engine, carbs, differential choices, etc. Sounds like a fun project you're working on!

I agree with ZmeFly. Trailer it home & start the process of replacing the ALL hoses then fluids. Best guess would be a months work and about $500 to round up the parts & install. Leaving it with a dealer and telling them to "fix what needs fixing" is very close to giving them a blank check.... I rented a rent-a-wreck and a car tailer a few years ago for about $70 for a one night run to pick up a car. Once you get it, you can work through the car and/or have Z friends over to help and make suggestions. It sounds like a GREAT deal!
  16. To lean? A long time ago I had a Mustang with the 2.8L Capri V6 and a 4 speed. It would flame the pipe but I always assumed that it happend from being too rich in the shift. The trottle would close in the shift and then wide open afterwards. Don't know if it was the accelerator pump or the closed throttle plate BUT it got enough gas to "flame" out the pipe. That German V6 was probably the best 6 after the Nissan IMHO. I hear some new guys use propane injection directly into the exhaust pipe to get a loooooong lasting flame. That seems kinda cheezy, but it would be more impressive than the real thing. I, too, have not seen either movie... Maybe I just don't wan't to support a movie that promotes the Ricers way of driving. Don't know for sure, don't want more of 'em out there.
  17. I installed a set (Moog) of joints and ends a few months ago. They came pre lubed and NO GREASE FITTINGS. I thought that all the after market stuff came that way. I would have prefered the ones with fittings, just could not find them....
  18. Absolutely. Bush was not elected, he was selected! (just like all modern U.S Presidents). Don't know, it seems like political spam. I seem to remember the dumb one about Clinton several years ago. Cinton killed Vince Foster, and Ron Brown and... yada yada yada. Spam Spam wonderful Spam
  19. Yea, kinda feels bad when you are personally attacked by someone that you do not know. Which is my point. It's "funny" when it's about someone else and "rude" when it about to you. I did not mean it as an attack (no more than you did) I was just pointing out the irony. sorry.
  20. yea, I'm just confusing the issue. And what was the issue? Just someone with too much time on their hands ranting against Bush. Who cares? I'm gonna go back & work on my car!
  21. yea, Where is a real military hero like Jimmy Carter or draft dodging/pot smoking Bill Clinton when you need him?
  22. Yep, a noboby.
  23. Sooo............ to be fair, What has That Ozzy Guy done with his life? Owned a company? Flown a jet? Owned a sports team? Influenced the world? Or just sit with a beer & type out sillyness against others? Just curious.
  24. Might be Buick/Olds/Pontiac lineage of the late 80's? It has more chrome than a Chevrolet but no fender liners like the Caddy had. It does not matter much when THAT much energy is involved. Even the land-yacht class cars will crush pretty good. The only real question is: How did that car get on a sight for wrecked exotics? It seems about as dull any car could possibly get!
  25. yea, looks loke a Caddy Coupe deVille
