  1. I didn't even notice there wasn't a leveler. Okay, I gotcha. Mine are wide too but it'll come in from the front. Thanks for this, I've never tried without the tires like Mark suggested, but am doing that this time so am going on blind faith.
  2. Holy guacamole! That's vertical almost. My hoist must be different. I don't remember it being that steep.
  3. Tires off or on? My hoist works with the tires on but the legs have to be to one side or the other, not centered from what I remember. I've only put one in before. My 280. Thanks for the input.
  4. Hey @Jeff G 78. I don't understand cheat to the front? Do mean run it all the way to front then level it to the motor with the front and rear chains? I've got it in the front most hole. Here's some pics so far. I'm gonna wait until I know for sure I'm about to do it before pulling the tires and sitting the rears on ramps. I might move over a foot so the hoist's arm will go in between the ceiling joist. Thanks for everyone's help. It builds up my confidence. 8^)
  5. THANK YOU! Great ideas. I'll do the floor jack under the frontcross memberr and a rope with a wooden handle for the tranny. And use ramps facing outward on the rears. I have a plan! Happy happy, joy joy.
  6. Questions? I'm thinking of how to set my car up for motor install, hopefully tomorrow. Should I put the rear tires on ramps? And I've got a set of slots without rubber on them. I was thinking two of those on the front to get it lower? Advice appreciated.
  7. Maybe why my heat didn't work?
  8. I've dry fit the header and it does not hit the bell house like the 280 did. Also I noticed how easy the bolts and nuts are accessible so I will be bolting the header on after the motor is down, I can do the job by myself that way and not worry too much. I've got some real stiff cardboard in between some drop cloth runners I bought for the fenders. 4'x12' folded over the cardboard to 2'x6'. Never in my life have I actually tested a thermostat, how can something that simple not work? Well, well, well they do go bad.
  9. You have a great car from what I can see in the engine bay, it looks to be an unmolested and original ride. Touchdown! You may want to check the oil level in the carbs if you haven't already. I use the 3 in 1 Blue 20 weight. Any hardware store will have it and it only takes a teaspoon or so.
  10. So you had to grind the .190s to .180s? All of them? Thanks for any help, this will be my next project and I'm trying to find out as much as I can.
  11. Just cake and ice cream I'm sure. No liquid refreshments. Happy belated birthday Zup!
  12. Same thing as thermocoupler in a pilot light. I've always been told it has some type of gas in it. If you bend it too tight or break it, no flow no mo!
  13. Once in awhile would be an improvement for me!
  14. I got my Tilton bolted up and the clutch kit on. I can hardly wait to see the difference with the lighter flywheel.
  15. On my 280 you can't separate the telescopic antenna from the motor, it has a plastic toothed cable that runs inside of them. You can buy a universal power antenna for about $30 bucks. Here's a write up on tricking the up and down swith that 240s have. ID #10, or the tenth post. Thanks @Mike for putting those up for us.
  16. You can bleed out the air when you find the, an·tip·o·dal anˈtipədl/ adjective relating to or situated on the opposite side of the earth
  17. Have you straight wired the pump yet to see if it's running? That will bypass all the switches and relays. There's a positive and negative terminal on the pump to make sure its pushing and not pulling. Positive is in the front. Thanks @Blue for the pictures. There's a switch in the AFM that cuts power to the pump on a '77. You can shove a screwdriver in the throat and hold the flap open to see if that runs it. The one on the right is OE. The flap has that small circle with the bolt threaded in it.
  18. That wanted the other side of the bed?

I found a thread a day or so ago where GrantF had to cut and sew his. I'm using my phone now and can't help much but if you google "carpet-grantf-classiczcars.com" you should find it. His turned out good after he did that extra work.
  20. Maybe I'll make the one next spring? Glad you had fun, you know what you were saying about eating a banana split for the first time. I'm going to have to get my doors locking before I come to the big city for C&O. Thanks @gwri8
  21. He's just as funny in real life! You have to pay close attention on here though. Sometimes I laugh at something he posted 30 minutes earlier when I'm offline already.
  22. My white interior was redone with SEM products (not by me LOL) and it looks as new. I only knew for sure when I removed the console and found the front corners on the vinyl covering the tranny tunnel up against the firewall were "antique white". That stuff is great and holds up very well in my car. Not sticky in the baking hot sun, which was kind of a surprise to me. It has to lay on top of vinyl. I wouldn't think vinyl would be very absorbent. I put their rust inhibitor, which is clear, on the rusty spots of red car. It turned the rust black. Kind of like it has acid in it? SEM; Good!
  23. Agreed! Whew what were they thinking??? That reminds me of my Mom's Buick Electra when I was a kid. She joked and said it was like riding around in a coffin. I'm reading BAT now. That's going to take more time. If it doesn't sale here I'll put it up for them to decide.
  24. You're right @charliekwin They've got the fever man! More cowbell.
  25. I've only seen BAT in post on here. I'm about to check it out now, thank you! And thank you too Greg, I forgot about Chattanooga. I'll put it on there craiglist also. Did you enjoy their Cruise In? I am about to go tinker with the orange one so I can "cruise in" somewhere.
