  1. I really like a Fram G-2 on the 240s fuel tank outlet hose. They're cheap and clear so you can see if you have sediment in the tank without dropping it. They're like $3 @ walmart.
  2. I'll try the Velcro first before drilling holes in the vinyl at the shock towers. Thank you for that suggestion. Cliff
  3. That worked great. My console has been out so long I don't remember why the passenger's side has outward sections? One big one by the e-brake handle and another smaller one to the right of the shift rod. The choke knob holds the driver's side down nice and snug but the passenger's side is a little loose. I will look tomorrow in the brightness of daylight and look for a screw hole I may have missed. I have 3 screws in the rear section and the two on the sides by the radio. Having the console back after a year or so is sorta weird feeling but it looks good. Very happy with it. Thanks again Jarvo for the picture of those wires. I'm going for a long drive in the morning. I got tired of pussyfooting it and got close to redline today and nothing flew apart so I'm gonna call it a successful rebuild. Thanks for everybody's help!
  4. classiczcars is my only social media, can't you tell? I'm a country boy with a lot to say it just seems to always come out wrong, but you guys understand my backwards arse.
  5. if you're getting notifications each time someone post you've done what I accidentally do all the time when I'm using my phone with my chubby fingers, bottom left in the reply box "Notify me of replies". If you click it it'll turn green and you get all the replies. But the @siteunseen is a way of notifying that particular member only, I think the cool kids call it "tagging". You can click it to turn it off, goes from green to grey.
  6. @Jarvo2 I have fought with those wires to the choke light switch all day today and still haven't mounted it down tight. I remembered your post and found this picture and I will try this route in the morning. Thank you!
  7. If I put it in the corner like Mr Arnett's it would hit the back of the passenger's seat, right? Also like the idea of using preexisting holes as JSM suggest. I'll see if that's a possibility behind the passenger's seat too. Thank you all for your replies. I tried the front of the seat base but the nozzle wouldn't allow it. Thanks again, Cliff.
  8. Finally bought a small one now I can't decide were to put it. Please advise.
  9. My '72 has a toggle too.
  10. I was going to suggest small amount of blue Loctite on the nut also. Cliff
  11. If I remember right you loosen a small screw and remove the knob on front. The switch comes through the panel with a threaded rod with the high medium low stalk in the center of the threaded part. There is a nut that goes on from the front onto the threads. Tighten that down the put the knob back on. Like a radio's knobs.
  12. If it's been sitting since the '80s don't try and crank it right off the bat. There's a lot of info on cranking an older car. Google "waking the sleeping beast classiczcars.com" and read that. It's a good starting point but they're easier work arounds. Mostly run the fuel suction off the filter before the pump out of a gas can bypassing the cruddy gas tank. There's a bunch of small tweaks before cranking. Filter off the gas tank, making sure the floats are moving freely, a little oil down the spark plug holes, clean and tighten all the battery grounds...blah blah blah. Do the research. It will be about an hour of reading but so worth it. Cliff
  13. Before '73 front bumper mounts, not very bumperie but closer to the body for a shorter and more tucked in looking car. The carbs are the most disliked thing about '73s. You can find the good ones still. Some people like the flat tops, @Captain Obvious
  14. I know that feeling. Congratulations and sleep in the Z when you get it home.
  15. My 12/71, I think build date, is in the 69,000 vins so I bet its a '72. Front bumper is a dead give away. '73s have a further out bumper with a strip between the bumper and the car. The'73 front bumper mounts have a rolled piece where '72s and younger are flat. Google image search it and see the dif France.

Have fun! You may wake up with a Bear that's been on the fence.
  17. I agree! I'm as frugal an SOB you'll ever meet but finishing sheetrock is right up there with doctor visits.
  18. A Canadian bought a 240 from me a year or so ago. Paid and everything then called and said he couldn't bring into Canada without a title. I told him there's no titles on that old a car and refunded his payment. Later that day he called and said he could bring it in with a hand written bill of sale and the past two years tag receipts.
  19. Reading some build threads over the past few years I think those were close to $40K. Somebody leap frogged the ordeal and bought a completed project. But a dash cap?!?
  20. Goodbye sunroof, Goodbye Mr Chips.
  21. What about me and my poor dog? He's wearing a diaper with an ice cream sandwich on his brown eye and I've gone nose blind. But (butt) he'd eat one right now if I gave him one. Damn dog, I love that rascal so much!
  22. I just watched this and it has some good info on different things on the throttle body. Your dashpot plunger might be holding the throttle at a high RPM, I forgot about that thing. It's for manual transmission cars only and keeps the throttle from dropping too much between shifts. Mine works good after I adjusted it but I don't remember how I did that. The hole I was thinking about that is associated with the BCDD is the vacuum advance. The video shows the slit in the throat of the throttle body but also shows how he connected the vacuum advance to another ported source for timing advance. Here are those tech tips that have helped so many of us, especially me cause I'ma sorta stupid. If you'll click on the EFI and FUEL section there's the gold mine. http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/ I'm asking you to click on a link now! Trust me though, this is a good one. Cliff
  23. He had temporary ED, and that's not E recital D ysfunction.
  24. No Sir! You do not want to know. Think Mr Mom feeding chili to that poor baby.
