  1. I would try and find a cheap borscope that uses your phone for the display to stick down the plug holes to look at the piston tops. You want flat for sure but also no small holes from corrosion or pre-detonation. The smoothest tops. Harbor freight or amazon has them. Someone was talking about one not too long ago but i can't remember where the bought it. Seems like it worked with bluetooth?
  2. I've read the turbo has more wiring than the stock wiring harness plus you need the turbo ECU. The turbo may need rebuilding plus there is more piping on a turbo. Things I've read in the past only, never owned a turbo car but they were fun back in the 80s. @Zed Head is more familiar with zcar.com, that's were most of the turbo guys hang out. He may shed some light on this? I'd go the N/A P90 route also because I like to keep things as simple as I can. You won't out run these newer cars with a turbo Z. Save your money for a 240. I rebuilt my '77 L28 myself for $500 or so, new everything except the basic engine parts. Reused the block, crank and pistons and head. gaskets, oil pump water pump fuel pump and injectors, new timing components
  3. You familiar with that Chad guy with the show on now? https://www.discovery.com/tv-shows/bad-chad-customs/
  4. We have not so long winters but they suck if it's a week or two. So the results are a lot of new mothers. Instead of buying more kerosene they wind up eventually buying diapers. Trailer Queens and there little Honey Boo Boos.
  5. Any question you have has been covered and answered hundreds of times on here.
  6. google.com any questions you have and always include classiczcars.com in your search. "ztherapy rebuild kit classiczcars.com" https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-android-americamovil-us-revc&source=android-home&source=hp&ei=y5RkXMCzMZK2tQXdyrmoAQ&q=ztherapy+rebuild+kit+classiczcars.com&oq=ztherapy+rebuild+kit+classiczcars.com&gs_l=mobile-gws-wiz-hp.12...2604.21327..22299...0.0..0.199.5638.1j36......0....1.......5..41j0j46i131j0i10j46i10j0i10i30j33i299j33i160j33i22i29i30.H4upG4wXJgU I bought the rebuild kits and they came with the dvd. Never touched the inner parts of a caberurator before, watched the video a few times and rebuilt mine to new working condition. Take your time and plenty of pictures for reference. Soaking the parts in lacquer thinner then buffing them out with 0000 steel wool made like new. Good luck!
  7. It has to be from Alabama. Standard Oil won't work.
  8. Our heat pumps pull humidity and blow hot air. It's very humid here. I can't sleep without my noisemaker. Neighbors slamming car doors, dogs barking and loud car stereos. Drinking helps!
  9. It's orange here and called off road diesel for farming and construction equipment. If you get caught with that in a OTR vehicle heavy fine. That dye stains the fuel system for a long time, maybe forever? Truckers get caught with it all the time. Never understood the reasoning behind that, farmers can use but independent truckers can't. So you have a "quick and dirty" way to get the most efficiency out your heater. Smart guy! I look for blue flames with natural gas. Orange has too much oxygen.
  10. An infected conehead, hurts when I pee.
  11. I love my '87 d21 but it's worthless in snow. It snows here MAYBE once a year so not a problem. 357,000 on the clock without any major work. Damn fine trucks!
  12. How do you get the oil for house heating? Does the price fluctuate like fuel oil? Curious to know how that works. We have natural gas down here. A lot of heat pumps that switch over to gas at 32F. That's what I'll get next.
  13. You have a high bar! I hope you can get there. I'd try for a Porsche if you have deep pockets. These old Zs are not too much for racing competitively any more, endurance track time more or less is all. Closed off parking lots and such. You need to see what you can find on Facebook. Atlanta is your best bet. Talladega has a road course infield. Get you a nice Z and restore it. You'd be ahead of the game and this forum will start to work on you as far as racing a classic Z. Great cars but not so competitive anymore. There worth so much money you'd be underwater racing one. My .02 cents.
  14. North Georgia has some shops. Road Atlanta guys. Eddie Radatz is the man but he's hard to nail down. Try Georgia Z club on Facebook. @SteveJ will know some guys.
  15. Ah come on Private Obvious. Or is that something different for boat captains or commercial icons?
  16. Here's the aftermarket spray bars
  17. Motor tilts to the passenger's side. Make a line down the center of the cam towers so your lobes will be straight up to the tilted motor. If you have them pointed straight up to your eyes they're off a little. That 180 degree evap hose has to be done or it won't vent right. It will pinch and cause fumes not to evacuate to the tank. I used two 90s PEX 3/4" to make mine. I can find a pic later or google "90 degree pex siteunseen classiczcars.com" I'm using my phone and don't have access to my info on my laptop. I can do better tomorrow when I'm home with my computer.
  18. Paddle shifters would be almost impossible. But maybe you can do it. What track will you use, Barber's? We don't have too many around here. Are you looking for an S30 Z or something newer? I will help if i can. I'm up in Gadsden, 1hour north of Birmingham. Good read here for an s30 build. http://datsunzgarage.us/engine/
  19. Angled feeler gauge,14mm and 17mm wrenches plus 17mm crows foot is all you need. I started out rolling my car to get the lobes up but buying a remote starter was a lot easier. The lobes come 2 at a time so to get it done quicker I made a cardboard, actually a piece of a beer box, template i guess you could call it with 12 spots. Intake and exhaust with the numbers written on there. Do the two and mark them off as you go. I put mine under the passenger wiper. Let me see if i can find it... Hold the 14mm while you tighten the 17mm. They'll turn on you and get out of spec. Good luck. Once and you're a pro, simple to do after you figure it out. Oh yeah, the motor is tilted. Take a Sharpie and draw a center line on the cam towers to use for getting the lobes pointed up right.
  20. Carpartsmanual.com has the old datsun numbers. courteseynissan.com has them as well. If they can get it so can your dealership. You must play dumb though and let them think they're doing you a special favor. That comes easy for me, i wear a hockey helment when i go in.
  21. Ps Flat washers against aluminum, split between bolt head and flat.
  22. Replace the evap lines and it's good for 40 years.
  23. Zcardepot.com has the SS bolts. I too reccomend as 7tooz those dollars as well spent. Use plenty of Permatex thread anti seize. Stainless into aluminium you should also use an inches to foot pound torque wrench. Harbor freight has a decent one but you can also get one on the tool loaner program at chain stores. Autozone has the same Pittsburgh one the HF sales.
  24. Get your flywheel lightened. New rod and crank bearings. New oil pump, water pump and timing kit. New rings, they're cheap. Valve seals, lap the valves. Cheap overhaul but that's about all these motors need. I'm sure i forgot something...
  25. If they don't get the 240 pan I'd like to buy it please. I like wrinkle paint, my girlfriend wears a lot but it does the opposite.
